Ljung being dislodged from her mount rounding the home turn.  After taking evidence from a number of riders in the vicinity of RED HEAVY,  the inquiry was adjourned to allow apprentice Ljung to be present at the inquiry as she was transported to hospital for further treatment.

MASK STEPENNY  – Examined by the veterinary surgeon after becoming fractious in the enclosure and subsequently was cleared to take its place in the field.  Tightened for room near the 300m and lost ground to the inside of BOLTIN’ DESIRE, which was taken in by BODACIOUS, which shifted in and away from the riderless RED HEAVY.

REAL PRINCESS – Bumped and became awkward shortly after the start and lost ground.  Checked over the concluding stages.  Jockey N. Tomizawa, rider of PURE LUCK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in whilst being ridden along over the concluding stages when insufficiently clear of REAL PRINCESS, resulting in REAL PRINCESS being forced to be checked to avoid the heels of PURE LUCK.  Jockey N. Tomizawa was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight, 25 September and to expire at midnight, 4 October 2016.

RACE 3: MACK TRUCKS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M

ANOTHER SAGA - Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view footage of the start to determine  if the horse had been afforded a fair start.  After viewing the patrol footage, stewards found that after the start was effected, the horse reared over in the barriers and became cast.  Stewards were satisfied that the horse had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.  Following the race,  jockey G. Geran reported he was experiencing some discomfort in his leg as a result of this incident.  Trainer L. Hatch was advised that he must provide a barrier certificate and a veterinary clearance  prior to its next race start.

I’VE GOT FRIENDS – Began very awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with another runner.  Steadied from heels when racing keenly near the 800m.  Steadied  to avoid the heels of LIVE FAST, which shifted in when not completely clear over the concluding stages.  Jockey N. Tomizawa, rider of LIVE FAST,  was reprimanded.  Raced wide throughout without cover.

FAR NORTH – Held up from the 500m until the early stages of the home straight and again near the 200m.

ABITAZAR – Held up from leaving the 500m until inside the 200m.

ROCK SPARK -  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey N. Tomizawa advised that the gelding at no stage during the event travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a cough, which was considered significant by the veterinary surgeon.  Trainer Mr B. Currie advised that in light of today’s performance the gelding will now be spelled.  Mr Currie was advised that he would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start.

RACE 5:  UD TRUCKS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M

RED GLAZE – Declared a late scratching at 7 pm on veterinary advice.

ROCK ON DESTINY – The start was initially delayed when the bridle had to be refitted behind the barriers.  The start was further delayed when the horse was unable to be loaded into the barriers.  Subsequently, the gelding was declared a late scratching at 8.30 pm and all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.

27 cents in the dollar for the Win #5
23 cents in the dollar for place of winner #5
20 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3

BRED IN THE RED – As the gelding was unable to be fitted with a Norton bit, the horse subsequently raced without this gear. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.

CARTAGENA – Had to be steadied when racing in restricted room near the 1400m.  When racing keenly approaching the 1300m shifted out to avoid the heels of another runner and as a result shifted wider on the track.
