ANDRUM – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

LOOSE NUT – Slow to begin and then failed to muster any speed and trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Wanless was advised that a warning would be placed against the horse for being uncompetitive.

MISHANI WRANGLER – Bumped at the start. Stewards questioned jockey Beau Appo regarding the tempo set through the middle stages. He stated that his instructions were to take up a forward position, however the gelding overraced with the blinkers on for the first time and he felt that this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s performance. Stewards noted the explanation.

PARDOE – Shifted in at the start and bumped another runner. Stewards questioned jockey N. Tomizawa regarding the tempo set through the middle stages. He stated that he was of the view that MISHANI WRANGLER was the main danger in the race and therefore he did not want to allow that runner to obtain an easy lead throughout. Jockey Tomizawa added that in hindsight it may have been a better option to attempt to restrain his mount when the tempo quickened in order to allow his mount to finish the race off better. Stewards noted the explanation.

PROLETAIRE – Forced in after being bumped shortly after the start.

The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse sustained lacerations to the off hind, consistent with being galloped on.

SEQUASI – Stood flat-footed at the start, losing ground. Had to be checked near the 300m when GREAT MOGHUL shifted out. L. Londregan, the rider of GREAT MOGHUL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 300m, when attempting to obtain clear running, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of SEQUASI.
