Following this race, jockey Beau Appo became ill and was stood down from his remaining engagements and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

SNAP FREEZE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

CURRENT FIGURES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

SNAP FREEZE – Stewards questioned apprentice J. Brand in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare, whereby after being tightened for room shortly after the start and losing ground, she then trailed the main body of the field throughout the event before making strong late ground.  Apprentice Brand advised that during the middle stages of the event, Snap Freeze dropped the bit and was reluctant to stretch out despite her efforts to improve the horse’s position.   She added from the 300m the mare commenced to travel strongly and ran on well over the concluding stages of the event.  After having the opportunity to view the patrol film, apprentice Brand agreed with stewards she erred in not placing Snap Freeze under more pressure from the 800m in an endeavour to obtain a position closer to the main body of the field, which would have better positioned her to improve into the race in the home straight. Stewards however, bearing in mind apprentice Brand’s inexperience as an apprentice rider at provincial meetings,  took the matter no further.

RACE 6: HANNAS BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1000M

GOLFING – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.  Held up and unable to improve leaving the 400m until the early stages of the home straight.

FAIR RULER  – Steadied to avoid heels over the concluding stages.

PUFF’S GIRL – Raced wide throughout.

HIT HIM AGAIN – Jockey B. Appo could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding.

INVITTO – On return to scale, jockey N. Evans expressed disappointment with the performance of the mare today, adding that the horse failed to show the speed he had anticipated and may not have been suited by the drop back in distance from the 1200m at its last start. Trainer B. Currie advised that in light of today’s performance the mare would now be sent for a spell.

RACE 7: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M

DESTINY’S DESIRE – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied near the 100m to avoid the heels of THIN DISGUISE, which shifted in when no completely clear.  E. Ljung, rider of THIN DISGUISE, was reprimanded.
