RACE 1: TOOWOOMBA PORTABLE TOILETS MAIDEN PLATE – 1625M
DUPORCHE – Began awkwardly and was bumped heavily shortly after the start.
IN OUR SIGHTS – Began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with another runner.
CHASINGWAGTAILS – Slow to begin and was checked to avoid heels shortly after the start. Bumped by another runner near the 900m. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that after obtaining a forward position in the event, the gelding travelled only reasonably well throughout the event, and when placed under pressure proved disappointing. Trainer B. Currie also expressed disappointment in the performance and advised that he may now freshen the horse up and step it back in distance before its next race start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
MEAL TICKET – Began awkwardly and shifted wider on the track. After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward and obtained a position outside the leader near the 1200m.
THE BARRACUDA – After beginning well, obtained a forward position contrary to its previous racing pattern.
RACE 2: VANDERFIELD JOHN DEERE BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1625M
JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin.
NAYTELLRHI MISS – Slow to begin.
ROSADOR – Apprentice E. Ljung was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
RACE 3: BLOOMING GORGEOUS QTIS 3YO CG&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
MR ATTITUDE – Hung out for the majority of the event and rounding the home turn whilst continuing to hang out, was forced wider on the track when bumped by another runner. Raced greenly in the home straight.
CAPTAIN TREASURE – Was forced wider on the track by another runner rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout.
GOLDEN DEPART – Was forced wider on the track by another runner rounding the home turn.
SPANISH FELLA – Rounding the home turn, jockey Spinks momentarily lost the use of his off-side rein and shifted out.
SIDEREUS ATTACKS – Broke down badly in the off foreleg after passing the winning post and was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.
RACE 4: K & R PLUMBING SUPPLIES QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
A TISKET A TASKET – The start was delayed after the filly lunged forward in the barriers. In this incident, jockey Bogenhuber was struck in the head by the horse. Bumped on jumping away.
IRISH EYES – Connections advised that jockey Yoshida will carry a whip, however it will not be used unless absolutely necessary. Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.
BRED FOR LUCK – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey N. Tomizawa advised the filly obtained a midfield position, as it did at its first start in a race, however from the 800m failed to travel strongly when placed under pressure and failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Pascoe also expressed disappointment with the performance and advised that in light of today’s run he will now review the filly’s preparation, which may include sending the horse for a freshen up.
SAINT ELEMENT – Slow to begin.
TAP ‘N’ GO - Steadied whilst weakening near the 400m when placed in restricted room.
LOOK FOR ROSIE – Shifted in near the 350m when struck with the whip, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.
SMOOTH VELVET – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 5: GC EVENT HIRE BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 1000M
THINKHESAURUS – Began awkwardly. Caught wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 600m.
FIERCELY DEFIANT – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout.
AGAPANTHA – Apprentice A. Spinks was fined $200 for failing to weigh in when required to do so.
RACE 6: COCA COLA AMATIL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M
MAKE A RULER – Steadied after being placed in restricted room near the 900m.
CAPTAIN LEO – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Brushed approaching the finish line. Checked near the 900m when placed in restricted room.
CANUNGRA KID – Whilst being restrained raced ungenerously for some distance near the 900m and then was steadied when placed in restricted room. Momentarily held up in the early stages of the straight. Brushed approaching the finish line.
BUCHINSKI – Raced greenly in the home straight. Raced wide throughout.
BRAVE RYANHEART – Steadied away from heels when racing fiercely approaching the 900m. Raced wide throughout.
BRAIN ON FIRE – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: CROWE HORWATH CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
I’M ALONE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
ANYMORE – Began awkwardly and was then bumped heavily at the start.
HELAROCITY – Raced keenly in the early stages of the straight. Laid in from passing the 400m for the remainder of the event. Raced wide throughout.
SAIPAN – Laid out whilst placed under pressure in the home straight.
FAIR RULER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
RACE 8: UBET CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M
BAGGER BLUES – Declared a late scratching at 5.09 pm refused to proceed to the barriers. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer G. Teal will be advised the horse required to barrier trial prior to its next race start.
PENHALE PRIDE – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Stable representative for trainer M. Nolan was advised that the horse would be required to barrier trial prior to its next race start. Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.
SOLTINHO LAD – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide without cover. Stewards intend to inquire into apprentice A.Spinks failure to ride his mount out over the concluding stages of the event at a later date.
RHODRY – Bumped heavily on jumping away.
CAPTAIN’S ANGEL – Began awkwardly.
SUGAR CITY – Jockey N. Tomizawa, rider of PENHALE PRIDE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SOLTINHO LAD, resulting in that horse being taken in, further resulting in SUGAR CITY being checked to avoid the heels of SOLTINHO LAD. Jockey Tomizawa was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight, 14 January and to expire at midnight, 24 January 2017.
CRAIG AND PEDRO – Raced wide. Checked leaving the 1000m after racing in restricted room when runners either side shifted ground. Steadied to avoid heels near the 150m.
JENNIFER JUNIPER – Bumped heavily on jumping away. Checked near 1000m. Apprentice B. Panya, rider of LITTLE DUTCHY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of JENNIFER JUNIPER, resulting in that horse having to be checked to avoid the heels of LITTLE DUTCHY. Apprentice Panya was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight 11 January and to expire at midnight, 19 January.
Checked near the 900m. Apprentice J. Guthmann-Chester, rider of APPLAUSE A STAR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in near the 900m, resulting in JENNIFER JUNIPER being forced to restrain and lose its rightful running, further resulting in RHODRY, which was racing to the inside of JENNIFER JUNIPER being placed in restricted room and losing ground. Apprentice Guthmann-Chester was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 8 January and to expire at midnight, 16 January 2017.
BRAZEN JAKE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 250m. Shifted out abruptly to avoid heels near the 200m.
SILVER SCREEN – Laid in over the concluding stages.
