QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 11 FEBRUARY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 3MPENETROMETER – 4.15 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. HitchenerStewards – J. Childs, L. Carvosso, A. PrestonBetting Steward – ClubClerk of Scales – Club Judge – ClubVeterinarian – F. ViljoenSwab Attendants – A. Jones, R. BurchmannStarter – P. BrennanStewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: KEY SUN ZINKE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M WALTHAM – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the horse’s performance, jockey R. McMahon advised that due to the fast early tempo his mount was off the bit for the majority of the event. He added that from the 550m the gelding laid in for a short distance and when placed under pressure felt the horse came to the end of its run near the 150m, which he attributed to the horse racing first up from a spell tonight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the near hind leg. INTERLUDE – Slow to begin. MINIVER – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. RICH REWARD – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. CAPTAIN’S PICK – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Race 2: CHARLTON TYRE SERVICE BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1000M HEROIC ACTION – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner. CANTBUYBETTER – As apprentice A. Sewell was unable to fulfil his engagement due to an engagement at Doomben, apprentice A. Spinks was substituted as rider. PUFF’S GIRL – Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. Had to steady near the 800m to avoid the heels of SWEET REPEAT, which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice B. Panya, the rider of SWEET REPEAT, was reprimanded. Race 3: HANNAS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the films of the start to determine whether UNSEEMLY was afforded a fair start. After viewing the films it was established that just prior to the start being effected UNSEEMLY became fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly and dislodged its rider. As stewards were satisfied the sole reason for UNSEEMLY dislodging the rider was its own manners, the mare was declared a runner and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers. PICK OF THE PUBS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. It was noted post-race that the gelding had speedy cuts to the off hind hock. HALFETI – Hung in for a short distance near the 600m. Race 4: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M CHARLIE’S DUST – Had to be steadied near the 750m to avoid the heels of a runner that was checked and lost ground. SAN ANDREAS – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. ALLORIAN – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. DUBLEO DABBLE – Checked near the 750m to avoid the heels of LORD WINDERMERE, which shifted in. Beau Appo, the rider of LORD WINDERMERE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at point he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DUBLEO DABBLE. In this incident CHARLIE’S DUST, which was following DUBLEO DABBLE, had to be steadied to avoid that runner’s heels when it lost ground. Beau Appo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 18 February and expire at midnight on Monday 27 February 2017. HERRSCHAFT – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. KAPACHINO MISS – As apprentice E. Ljung was unable to fulfil her engagement due to an engagement at Doomben, apprentice B.
