QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 5MPENETROMETER – 4.22 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. HitchenerStewards – J. Childs, A. PrestonBetting Steward – ClubClerk of Scales – ClubJudge – ClubVeterinarian – F. ViljoenSwab Attendants – R. Burchmann, E. HodgesStarter – P. BrennanJockeys Advocate – K. WallerStewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: FURNEYS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M On return to scale, D. Baker, trainer of UNIQUE MAGIC, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against STELLA’S DREAM being declared the winner, alleging interference rounding the home turn and in the home straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage, it was established that although STELLA’S DREAM did shift out rounding the home turn, it was not of any consequence to the running of UNIQUE MAGIC and whilst STELLA’S DREAM did shift out towards UNIQUE MAGIC in the home straight, it had no effect on the finishing positions of both runners and therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings. MAHARNI – Steadied leaving the 600m to avoid the heels of SO IT’S TRUE which shifted in when not completely clear. Bradley Appo, the rider of SO IT’S TRUE was advised to exercise more care when his mounts shift ground. SO IT’S TRUE – Began awkwardly. On returning to scale, jockey Bradley Appo reported to stewards that after beginning awkwardly he rode the horse along in the early stages, and as a result his mount commenced to overrace, and therefore he obtained a leading position, which was contrary to his instructions which were to attempt to ride the horse with cover today. Jockey Appo was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the event. BEAUTIFUL LIE – Steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room near the 800m. FORGOTTEN FEELING - Bumped by another runner on two occasions shortly after the start. Steadied near the 800m when placed in restricted room for a short distance by SARIAYA. SARIAYA – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Race 2: UBET RATINGS BAND 0 – 65 H'CAP – 1050M LIVE FAST – Raced three wide without cover throughout. VIMZIG – Slow to begin. On returning to scale jockey Bradley Appo reported that after being slow to begin the horse failed to respond to his urgings to improve its position and was reluctant to stretch out, resulting in the horse trailing the field throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R. Smith advised that the horse has a history of hoof issues, which she believed may have been a contributing factor in the horse’s poor performance tonight. Ms Smith undertook to report to Stewards the results of further veterinary tests she intends to have carried out on the horse. RHIATENN ROAD – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover throughout. SECRETS SURROUND – Began awkwardly and lost ground. VIVA LA PROXY – Steadied when placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Race 3: TOOWOOMBA PORTABLE TOILETS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1210M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable A. Badger, the rider of 5th place getter INVINCIBLE STORM, to view the Stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether she had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the 2nd place getter. After viewing the videos jockey Badger declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared. MICKEY DAZZLER – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover from leaving the 800m. PERSISTENT SHADOW – Tightened for room at the start. Slow to muster early speed. INVINCIBLE STORM – Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the start. Bumped by another runner at the 150m. HIGHTOWER – Bumped by another runner at the 150m. SEQUOIA MISS – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. LONTANA – Lost the near hind plate in running. Bogenhuber, the rider of 1st place getter SPANISH FELLA, was dislodged on returning to the enclosure and was unable to weigh in, acting under AR.142 Stewards declared correct weight as jockey Bogenhuber had weighed out correctly and Stewards were of the opinion that the horse had carried its correct weight.
