Race 1: PURSEHOUSE RURAL QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 870M

SO IT’S TRUE – Laid out rounding the home turn.  Shifted in abruptly in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.

MARMA GOT STYLE – Slow to begin.

ROSE CLIP – Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the start.

Race 2: RAY WHITE RURAL PITTSWORTH CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1110M

RHIATENN ROAD – Began awkwardly.  Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: MOORE TRAILERS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1210M

SAINTLY LAD – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ROCKABELLA BOY – Raced wide in the early stages and was forced to be ridden forward by its rider in an attempt to find a position one off the fence passing the 800M.  On returning to scale, jockey Beau Appo reported to Stewards that, in his opinion, the work the horse was required to do after being caught wide in the early stages was the major contributing factor in the horse’s poor performance tonight.

IMA SHOWMAN – On returning to scale, jockey K. Yoshida reported to Stewards that his mount had its tongue back, and for that reason he recommended to connections the addition of a tongue tie to the horse’s gear.

WE BUILT THIS CITY – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

FAR NORTH – Steadied from heels near the 700M.

LUCKY DUCKY – Apprentice R. Ride was reprimanded for using the whip in excess prior to the 100M.  In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account that apprentice Ride has only recently returned to race riding after recovering from a significant injury.

WILL TO RULE – Raced ungenerously for a short distance whilst being restrained near the 900M.

Race 4: ROBERTSONS TRANSPORT CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M

TRIBE – At the request of apprentice B. Stower the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arriving at the barriers.  Following this examination, the horse was passed fit to start.  Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the start.  Again steadied to avoid heels a short distance later when DUBLE MEANING was taken in by GIVUS A CUDDLE.  Jockey Oliver, the rider of GIVUS A CUDDLE, was reprimanded as a result of this incident.  Hung out and was checked away from the heels of another runner near the 700M.

KOH CHANG – Began awkwardly.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from one nostril.  Trainer L. Hatch advised that in light of this report he will now review the horse’s racing future in his stable.  Mr Hatch was advised by Stewards that the horse would be required to gallop 1000M in the presence of Stewards prior to racing again.

DUBLE MEANING – Began awkwardly.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ANXPENSE - Trainer P. Sexton was fined $100 for failing to produce the ID card for the horse when required to do so.

DOG DAYS ARE OVER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

COURTING JOY – Made the home turn wide.

I FOUND SOMEONE – Slow into stride.

EIGHT CHANCE – Late scratching at 5.00pm for veterinary reasons.

LATCHY’S GIRL – Brushed the running rail near the 900M.  Disappointed for a run when attempting to shift out passing the 600M and as a result lost ground.  Held up and unable to improve from the 450M until rounding the home turn.

GULLY GOSH – As jockey R. Plumb was unable to fulfil his engagement at tonight’s meeting jockey B. Derbyshire was substituted as rider.  Knuckled on jumping away.

LONTANA – Buffeted between runners near the 400M whilst weakening and lost ground when UNSEEMLY attempted to shift out to secure clear running.  Jockey S. Bogenhuber, the rider of UMSEEMLY was advised to exercise more care.

SNACK ON THE RUN – Steadied to avoid heels near the 400M when COLLYWOBBLE laid in despite the efforts of its rider.

Race 7: NAUMANN ELECTRICAL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1650M

After rearing over in the barriers, GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently declared a late scratching at 8.31pm on veterinary advice.  Following the event, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

9 cents in the dollar for the Win #6
10 cents in the dollar for place of winner #6
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #4

Trainer’s representative Ms G. Miller was advised that GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.

Woodhouse reported to Stewards that after being steadied near the 500M the gelding failed to travel from this point and proved disappointing over the concluding stages.
