QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB – SUNDAY 16 JULY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 7 (SOFT 6 FOLLOWING RACE 2)RAIL – TRUEPENETROMETER – 4.35 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. BrennanStewards Secretary – M. Weir GENERAL As G. Mitchell was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made in Races 6 and 7 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Due to a clerical error, the classes of races 2, 3, 4, and 5 were incorrectly displayed in the racebook, however those races were run in accordance with the official racing program. The correct titles of all of today’s events are displayed in this Report. Race 1: WIN LOCAL NEWS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M MONEY TALK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. AGUERO – Bumped at the start. STRATTON OAKMONT – Bumped at the start. Shifted out to avoid the heels of another runner when racing greenly near the 900m. I’M ADORABLE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. DENLAGO – Raced wide for the majority of the event. INDE ROAR – Began awkwardly. OAKFIELD SUNSET – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer B. Hudson regarding the late declaration of H. Phillips as rider. Steadied to avoid heels near the 900m. RAVAILLION – Raced wide for the majority of the event. JAREL’S DRAGON – Slow to begin. Race 2: ART & SOUL QTIS 2YO AND 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M LOVEBEAT – Laid in in the home straight. MIA’S FOLLY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. MISHANI SEEKA – Caught wide in the early and middle stages. LION COMING – Laid in for a short distance and was steadied by its rider near the 900m. OUR VISION – On return to scale, Apprentice T. Brooker reported that her mount hung in for a large portion of the race and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Raced wide without cover throughout. THEOUTLAWSDAUGHTER – Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 900m, and then, whilst racing greenly, was reluctant to hold its position inside runners and, as a result, lost ground. SQUEAK’S BOY – Slow into stride. Steadied from heels near the 300m and again passing the 200m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. The track was upgraded to SOFT 6 following the running of this race. Race 3: KING VALLEY PROSECCO BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 870M The start of this race was delayed when MARKED FOREVER proved difficult to load. TIN’S POCKET – Inclined to lay in for a short distance approaching and passing the 200m. ONE GOLDEN DAY – After beginning well, the filly was unable to muster early speed and hung out throughout, proving difficult to ride. Trainer B. Currie was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s racing manners. SNIPETRON – Tightened for room at the start. STICK WITH ME – Steadied off heels when shifting out to secure clear running near the 300m. Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. WHATEVER MISS – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. DRAGON STREET – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 500m. SQUEEMI – Forced to shift in when awkwardly placed at the heels of another running passing the 200m. MARKED FOREVER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 500m. LI’L PIPPA – Raced wide throughout. On return to scale, Apprentice N. Summers reported that she has advised Trainer K. Lewis that, in her opinion, the addition of a tongue tie to the horse’s gear may assist the filly to finish off its races better than it did in today’s event. Race 4: WELCOME HOME BEN SAUNDERS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1100M JOHNNY BE QUICK – Held up rounding the home turn. HUNCHA DUNCHA – Bumped at the start. FINNOMONY – Bumped at the start. Race 5: GAINSBOROUGH LODGE BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1625M No racing incidents. Race 6: CARLTON MID CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M ROSCO – Raced wide without cover throughout. CAPTAIN’S ANGEL – Steadied from heels when racing keenly near the 750m. PARELEMA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. DR QUINCY – Raced wide throughout. Race 7: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1300M BURNING MOUNTAIN – On Saturday 15 July 2017 Apprentice J. Hodge was engaged by his manager to replace Apprentice G. Mitchell as the rider of BURNING MOUNTAIN however, upon arriving on course, Apprentice Hodge advised that he was unable to fulfil this engagement as he had a prior commitment. Apprentice Hodge was therefore replaced by Apprentice H. Phillips. Apprentice Hodge was fined $100 under rule AR. 85B for failing to fulfil a race riding engagement. BOURBON ROAD – Steadied from the heels of RA RA EPIC (Apprentice R. Goldsbury) which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice Goldsbury was issued with a reprimand as a result of this incident. NOVATIVE – Failed to muster early speed. RULER’S PRIDE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed to horse to have been galloped on on both hind legs. MR BOXVALE – Raced wide throughout without cover. FELIX – Raced wide without cover for the majority.RA RA EPIC- When attempting to obtain a narrow run from the 150m until near the 50m, was held up and unable to improve. GULLY GOSH – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 1100m. Clipped heels and blundered when disappointed for a run near the 400m. INTERLUDE – Slow to begin. GRAND CHEVAL – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have coughed on a number of occasions which may have affected the horse’s performance.
