DRESS SENSE When questioned by Stewards regarding the tactics adopted on DRESS SENSE, and in particular as to whether there was an opportunity to allow her mount to stride forward when racing in a 3 wide position in the early and middle stages to a position outside the leader or to a leading position, jockey B. Derbyshire advised that it was her intention to find cover in the early stages if possible, however she was unable to do so which resulted in the gelding racing in a 3 wide position.. Jockey Derbyshire added that, in her opinion, the gelding overraced 2 starts prior at Moree on 20 July 2017 and proved difficult to restrain whilst racing in the leading position and, for that reason, when stepping up in distance tonight she was reluctant to pressure her mount to obtain a forward position during the middle stages, as she felt she would have difficulty restraining the horse once it obtained a forward position.. After having an opportunity to review the Stewards patrol footage, jockey Derbyshire agreed with Stewards that she had erred in not allowing the gelding to stride forward in the early and middle stages which would have given the horse a better run tonight.. Stewards were not however of the opinion that the ride was culpable under the Rules, and therefore the matter was taken no further.
