When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, Apprentice M. Schrapel reported that after beginning awkwardly his mount had to be steadied from heels which resulted in the horse settling further back in the field than he anticipated.. Stewards noted the explanation. WILMA Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. SHADES OF SERENA Began awkwardly and lost ground.. Raced wide for the majority of the event. SHE WENT WISH As J. Morris failed to fulfil his engagement, N. Nishio was substituted as rider.. J. Morris was reprimanded for failing to fulfil his engagement.. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Morriss good recent record in relation to this rule.. Made contact with the running rail at the 400m. TRACTION Steadied from the heels of another runner near the 350m.. Laid in in the home straight.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Oliver could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance tonight.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. HIGH AFRICAINE Slow to begin.. RED HOT SECRET When questioned by Stewards as to why he allowed his mount to lose contact with the field leaving the 800m, and as to why he did not attempt to improve outside SEQUASI leaving the 400m, Apprentice Keal advised that his instructions were to find a position on the fence and to wait until the cutaway as the horse only has a short sprint. Apprentice Keal added that when racing in a 3 wide position he elected to restrain his mount to find a position on the rail near the 800m, and to comply with instructions waited until the cutaway to allow his mount to sprint in the home straight.. Trainer K. Kemp subsequently confirmed those instructions.. Stewards advised Apprentice Keal that he should make more of an effort to stay in contact with the field in similar circumstances, and that there could have been an opportunity for him to improve outside SEQUASI leaving the 400m.. Stewards noted the explanations.. SHEZA HOTTI Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 3: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL MAIDEN HHCAP 1625M KUTTAMURRA AL Trainer B. Morris reported that the filly resented the kickback and failed to handle the hill. NOW YOU SEE When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer B. Currie advised Stewards that since the horse joined his stable from New South Wales, it has been trialling extremely well, and he had expected a forward showing tonight. Race 5: CJ NUTRACON 10TH ANNIVERSARY QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1000M GOLDEN COMMAND Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event. SEATTLE GAL Began very awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner, and as a result became unbalanced. SIOUXSIE Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground.. Apprentice H. English reported at scale that her mount raced greenly for the majority of the event. Race 6: SEDL AGENCIES CLASS 5 HHCAP 1000M The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to allow Apprentice M. Schrapel to view the photo-finish print for 3rd. After viewing the print, he was satisfied with the Judgees semaphored numbers. NATIONAL TRAIL On return to scale, Apprentice N. Keal could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance tonight.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.. Trainer T. Sears reported that when the horse returned to his stables it appeared to be distressed, and he advised that it may be the case that the horse has a virus.. Mr Sears advised Stewards that he would have blood samples taken from the horse in the coming days, and would report any findings to Stewards. SQUEEMI Raced wide for the majority of the event.
