GENERAL

The track was downgraded to a Soft 5 at 1.40pm.

Stewards questioned jockey R. Williams in relation to her acceptance of two engagements at the Gold Coast meeting today, and in respect of her failure to fulfil those engagements. After hearing submissions from jockey R. Williams, and evidence tendered by Trainer Mr. R. Lipp, jockey R. Williams was found guilty of a charge under AR. 85B and fined $200.

Race 1: THE APRICITY INVOICE FINANCE BENCHMARK 65 HCAP – 1300M

LADY MICAELA slipped over in the tie-up stalls prior to entering the enclosure. The mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Upon arrival at the barriers, jockey R. Williams expressed some concern regarding the positioning of the saddle, and requested that the horse be resaddled. Upon further inspection it was discovered that the saddle had sustained a damaged tree, and jockey R. Williams was not satisfied to ride in that gear. LADY MICAELA was declared a late scratching at 4.57pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

8 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
10 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6
12 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4

RHIATENN ROAD – Held up from the 500m until a point passing the 350m.

I AM THE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Steadied away from the heels of another runner approaching the 1000m.

WE’RE READY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 2: CMT HAULAGE CLASS 2 HCAP – 1100M

CHARLIES DUST – When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, Apprentice N. Keal advised that, after beginning well from the wide gate today, he felt that he would have been unable to go forward without being caught wide, and he therefore elected to restrain his mount to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Apprentice Keal added that, in his opinion, the gelding did not travel well in the soft conditions tonight. Apprentice Keal also stated that the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure approaching the 400m, and felt flat over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation.

SANDRELLI – Steadied away from heels passing the 850m when AMERICAN FRONTIER shifted in slightly.

MAKE A RULER – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

MACS BOY – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages.

CHEVYS DESIRE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Due to continuing rain, Stewards downgraded the track to a SOFT 6 following Race 2.

Race 3: TACAPS RATINGS BAND 0-62 HCAP – 1625M

WAKE UP JEFF – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

KID CRUIZE – Following the event, Stewards reminded jockey N. Tomizawa of his obligations regarding his whip use.

CASINO GOLD – Hampered on jumping away. Forced wider on the track passing the 700m when OVER THE VENTURE shifted out to improve. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

SEATTLE GAL – Bumped on jumping away.

Race 4: COCA COLA AMATIL MAIDEN HCAP – 1300M

KIMHORSEDASHIAN – On return to scale, jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang out from the 800m until the home turn.

HARMONISING – Failed to respond when placed under pressure passing the 400m, and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that before racing again the horse must trial satisfactorily and a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, must be produced. A swab sample was also taken from the mare.

MEGASHOT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Stewards were advised by the shoeing inspector that the plates on the gelding were not to the requisite standard required. Trainer Mr. B. Robinson was advised that in future his horses must be appropriately shod when presented to race.

CHASINGWAGTAILS – Raced wide after passing the 600m.

Following this event, jockey Beau Appo became ill and was stood down by ambulance officers. Stewards advised Beau Appo that he will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to racing again.

Race 5: WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE CLASS 1 HCAP – 870M

The start of this race was delayed when the loading process could not be started until all runners were safely behind the barriers in the 870m chute.

MY KASHKARD – Slow to begin. Laid in and made contact with MUSTOLA GOLD approaching the 550m, and then shifted out abruptly, and continued to race greenly, for the remainder of the event.

COALBANK CAVIAR – Began awkwardly.

MUSTOLA GOLD – Prior to the event, Trainer Mr. M. Fleming advised Stewards that he was satisfied to allow Apprentice R. Payne to only claim ½ kilogram of her 1½ kilogram allowance. Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Apprentice R. Payne as to the reasons for failing to claim her full allowance. Slow to begin.

Race 6: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 870M

The start of this race was delayed when GRAND DE LAGO dislodged its rider behind the barriers and then became fractious once placed in the barriers.

ENDLESS SIZZLE – As jockey Beau Appo was stood down following his ride in Race 4 tonight, jockey S. Bogenhuber was substituted as rider. Steadied, and then shifted wider on the track, when awkwardly placed at the heels of MONSOON SKY passing the 400m.

HOLDIN MY OWN – Began awkwardly and the saddle shifted back, and then commenced to buck and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Mr. L. Ross was advised that the filly will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

Race 7: AXIOM INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 5 HCAP – 1850M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to allow Apprentice M. Murphy, the rider of 2nd placegetter, ISNT SHE ELEGANT, to view the Stewards patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against 1st placegetter, WALTZ IN FLIGHT (Apprentice N. Keal), on the basis of excessive whip use. After viewing the film, Apprentice Murphy indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

WALTZ IN FLIGHT – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.

THERES NEMO – Commenced to lose ground after passing the 800m. Trainer Mr. S. Thomas advised Stewards that he will review the horses current preparation, and may send the gelding for a spell.
