Race 1: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
ALLABOUT THATBASS – Jockey T. Brooker reported to Stewards that the gelding, after commencing to weaken from the 600m, had a tendency to lay in for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
DE LOSKO – Steadied away from the heels of KIBBIT RAHEEB which laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. G. Geran, the rider of KIBBIT RAHEEB, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.
FAIR SET – Slow to begin. Raced with its head in the air for a short distance whilst being restrained near the 900m. Buffeted between runners at the 400m and, as a result, raced in restricted room for a short distance and lost ground.
RISK ADVISOR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey W. O’Connell reported that the gelding commenced to hang in when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, placing him in some difficulty. He added that upon straightening the gelding continued to hang in, which resulted in him being unable to fully pressure the horse for the remainder of the race. As the horse had left the course prior to the required time, a veterinary examination was unable to be performed. Stewards will interview Trainer S. Burns in relation to this matter, and the horse’s post-race recovery, at a later date.
MEGASHOT – Trainer B. Robinson was reprimanded for failing to have the gelding on course by the prescribed time. When considering the matter, Stewards were mindful of the explanation tendered by Mr. Robinson regarding the late arrival on course, and also took into consideration his exemplary record in relation to this rule. Prior to racing the horse underwent a veterinary examination, and a swab sample was taken. Stewards questioned Apprentice C. Bayliss in respect of his riding after rounding the home turn. Apprentice Bayliss advised that upon entering the home straight he attempted to secure clear running to the outside of ALLABOUT THATBASS, however when FAIR SET, which was racing to the outside of ALLABOUT THATBASS, laid in he was unable to secure this run. He further added that after passing the 200m he again attempted to secure clear running, however when RISK ADVISOR, which was racing to his outside, hung in he was again momentarily disappointed for clear running. Apprentice Bayliss went on to say that his mount ran on reasonably when able to secure clear running over the final 75m. Stewards noted the explanation.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3.

ALL ONE CLASS – Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.
Race 3: MOORE TRAILERS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1625M
MAITRE DU JEU – Jockey Beau Appo could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Currie advised that, in light of the disappointing performance, he will now consider the gelding’s future in his stable.
GOULDIAN – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn, and then had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

LADY VIDIA – Slow to begin.
Race 5: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1000M
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards to view the photo finish print for 2nd. After viewing the print, they were satisfied with the Judge’s semaphored numbers.
BREAK TIME – Jockey Beau Appo was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions, and in consecutive strides, prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of whip use, and jockey Appo’s previous good record in relation to this rule.
KAHNEMAN – Jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with ALLENA.
Race 6: UBET BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1200M
The start of this race was initially delayed when BURNING MOUNTAIN, which became fractious in the barriers, was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
The start was further delayed when BOLD KINGSTON proved difficult to load.
LOVE AND LIES – Following the race, Trainer J. Williams advised that the horse will now be retired.
BOLD KINGSTON – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Stewards questioned Apprentice S. Sweeney and stable representative Mr. A. Minton with respect to Apprentice Sweeney’s riding of the gelding during the early stages. Apprentice Sweeney advised that she had been issued with firm instructions to be in a forward position, and she therefore rode her mount along aggressively during the early stages in an endeavour to obtain that position, despite missing the start by several lengths. Apprentice Sweeney added that, after doing some work early, she was able to obtain a position forward of midfield, however she was forced to race wide throughout. Mr. Minton confirmed the instructions issued and advised that, bearing in mind those instructions, he was satisfied with Apprentice Sweeney’s riding. Stewards advised Apprentice Sweeney that, in their opinion, it would have been more advantageous, after missing the start, to obtain a position closer to the rails at the rear of the field which would have given her mount a better opportunity to finish off the event. Stewards advised Apprentice Sweeney that in future they would expect better judgement than displayed on this occasion however, bearing in mind the strict instructions issued, they took the matter no further. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
STORMY GREY – Laid in in the home straight.
Race 7: WIN LOCAL NEWS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
BAUHINIA STORM – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount was inclined to hang in in the early stages, however travelled strongly in the middles stages. He added that from the 500m, when asked to improve into the race, the gelding failed to quicken as he had anticipated and in the home straight felt very awkward in its action, and he therefore eased the horse down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. In light of jockey Stanley’s comments, Stewards will follow-up with Trainer D. Hansen in the following days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
PRIEST’S ROAD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
STAR OF COLUMBIA – Began awkwardly, making contact with another runner.
