JAZZ QUEEN – Raced in restricted room near the 700m. KANDANGA MISS – Bumped on jumping away. Stewards questioned jockey D. Smith in relation to his riding in the early stages, and in particular the reason for his mount’s stable mate, NIEDORP, being able to improve into a run to his inside approaching the 700m. Jockey Smith advised that after beginning well he was able to obtain a forward position to the immediate outside of MISHANI SPIRIT, however his mount was under pressure to maintain that position. He added that when MISHANI SPIRIT crossed to a position on the fence whilst leading, it was his intention to follow that runner across to a position one off the fence, however as his mount was under pressure, this allowed NIEDORP to quickly improve to his mount’s inside and, in his opinion, he had insufficient clearance to cross at that point, which ultimately resulted in NIEDORP obtaining a position to the outside of MISHANI SPIRIT. Stewards noted the explanation. NIEDORP – Bumped on jumping away. Race 10: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1300M SPENDING MY TIME – Began awkwardly. BIG ARJAY – Dipped on jumping away.
