LA RANA TORO – 8.34amTORQUATO TASSO – 7.45am Race 1: MITTYS BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1625M The start of this race was delayed when it was noted after loading that WOW FACTOR had got its tongue over the bit. This was rectified prior to the start being effected. On return to scale, it was noted that the gelding again had its tongue over the bit. BENICO’S PRINCE – Raced wide in the early stages. WOW FACTOR – Jockey E. Ljung was fined $100 for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Shifted out and bumped another runner whilst securing clear running passing the 400m. MENDELSSOHN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. ON A HIGH – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight. Race 2: PRO-CLEAR BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M OUR ROCK O’REILLY reared as the start was effected resulting in jockey A. Sewell being dislodged. Jockey Sewell was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. A post-race veterinary examination of OUR ROCK O’REILLY revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer Mr. G. Richardson was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start. MISHANI VAIDRA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. TYCOON FLUTTER – Held up rounding the home turn. PICK OF THE PUBS – Checked and altered course to the outside near the 150m to avoid the riderless horse. Steadied to avoid the heels of the riderless horse approaching the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had cast the off-hind plate in running. FRENCH JET – Momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 150m. Stewards questioned jockey E. Ljung with respect to the gelding settling further forward than its most recent starts. Jockey E. Ljung advised that prior to the race she had expected to obtain a midfield position however, after beginning well, she elected to make use of the inside barrier and ride the horse along in the early stages to obtain a forward position. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 3: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M GO GET SUM – Bumped as the start was effected and became unbalanced. REIGNING THUNDER – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. GENERAL KINGSMAN – Blundered badly on jumping away resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced. WEARETENFORTYEIGHT – Steadied whilst weakening near the 400m when forced across the heels of another runner by JUST FAVULOUS (K. Yoshida) which shifted out to secure clear running. Jockey K. Yoshida was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. Steadied near the 250m after being bumped by another runner. Stewards questioned jockey E. Ljung in relation to the filly’s seemingly poor performance. Jockey Ljung advised that her mount travelled well during the race, however when placed under pressure from the 500m it failed to respond to her riding. She added that after receiving some interference near the 400m the filly failed to travel comfortably from that point, and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 4: HANNAS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 870M LAYLA’S LAD – Raced 3 wide throughout. Apprentice S. Lacy reported that her mount had a tendency to hang in for the majority and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. SUPERSONIC BOOM – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. Race 6: FURNEYS STOCK FEEDS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M MISHANI ROMAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. UBIRR ROCK – Bumped by another runner and blundered shortly after the start. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that the colt did not feely entirely comfortable in its action over the concluding stages and, for this reason, he desisted from riding it out to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no apparent abnormalities. CONFESSIONS – Clipped the heels of SLEEPY HEART after securing a position behind that runner near the 1100m and, as a result, blundered badly resulting in jockey K. Yoshida almost being dislodged. As a result of this incident, jockey Yoshida lost the use of his off-side stirrup for a short distance, and the saddle shifted forward, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder. ROSENDAHL RED – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. THE GREAT BOOMBINO – Shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of another runner near the 1100m. Bumped by another runner near the 500m.
