GENERAL

As Queensland Ambulance Officers were required to attend to an ill patron following the running of Race 4, the starting times of Races 5 and 6 were amended from those originally advertised as follows:

Race 4 – 7.40pm
Race 5 – 8.10pm

Race 1: PG AGRIFOOD CLASS 1 PLATE – 1625M

MR MISUNDERSTOOD – Steadied from heels whilst overracing when rounding the turn near the 1300m.

PANALLEY – Raced in restricted room and was eased when BY THE LAW (R. Ride) shifted in when not completely clear approaching the 1300m. Jockey R. Ride was reprimanded as a result of this incident.

PETAIN – Held up and unable to improve from the 500m until the early stages of the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

THE SHOWMAN – Raced keenly in the early stages.

CROSSING THE TEE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 850m.

JET’N’WILD – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Goltz reported that after being slow to begin the mare failed to muster early speed, and despite his efforts to improve trailed the field for some distance in the early and middle stages before making strong late ground in the home straight.

Sweeney, the rider of COSTA BLANCA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 400m she permitted her mount to shift out in an attempt to secure clear running, and in doing so bumped FAKE NEWS (E. Ljung) which resulted in its rider having to take hold to avoid the heels of ROSENDAHL RED. App. S. Sweeney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Thursday 8 November 2018 and expire at midnight on Friday 16 November 2018.
