Race 1: ITHINK PROPERTY BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1110M

GO GET SUM – Dipped on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Brad Appo was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

TAHOE CITY – As the gelding had not raced for some time, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jockey E. Ljung was dislodged from the gelding on pulling up, taking a seemingly harmless fall. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had lost the near fore plate in running, and that it was exhibiting an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer B. Currie was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to its next start.

OKANAGAN MISS – Bumped at the start.

MAC’S GAL – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. King was fined $100 for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

LAYLA’S LAD – Dipped on jumping away.

Race 2: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M

UMAWINNER – Jumped in the air at the start.

MESSAGE TO MARTHA – Began awkwardly. Laid in throughout. Jockey G. Geran reported that after being caught wide he permitted his mount to stride forward to obtain the leading position, however the mare commenced to overrace during the middle stages, which he attributed to it stepping up from 1000m, and then failed to run on as he had expected in the home straight.

ROSEXCEL – Slipped behind on jumping away and, as a result, lost ground.

MISHANI RULER – As App. C. Frater-Hill was indisposed due to illness, jockey N. Tomizawa was substituted as rider when no other apprentice was available.

Race 3: CREATE WITH COTTEE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1640M

THE BARRACUDA – Jumped in the air at the start.

WESTBROOK WARRIOR – Jumped in the air at the start. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that, in his opinion, the gelding raced flat today and was under pressure for a considerable distance from home. He added that the gelding failed to run on in the home straight as he had expected, and proved disappointing.

SILK TOPPER – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels at the 800m.

CROSSING THE TEE – Upon arriving at the barriers the mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of jockey Beau Appo, and passed fit to start.

CASINO GOLD – Slow to begin.

Race 4: SEDL AGENCIES CANNONBALL – HEAT – BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 870M

SAIPAN – As App. C. Frater-Hill was indisposed due to illness, App. B. Nothdurft was substituted as rider.

TEEROYS TRIBUTE – Race 3 wide without cover for the majority.

BAGGER CHANCE – Lunged forward and put its head down just prior to the start being effected and, as a result, lost ground. Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m to the inside of ZOUZOUKAKIA (Beau Appo) and, as a result, made contact with the running rail and lost ground. Beau Appo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

CAPTAIN LEO – Bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the horse has bled it will now incur a lifetime bar from racing.

DISTRICT – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

Race 5: PRYDE’S EASIFEED QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 870M

JACKO’S A NATURAL – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg, and to have sustained a laceration to its near side elbow. Trainer J. Brown was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.

ROCK BEAT – Began awkwardly.

SCARAMOUCHE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in in the home straight.

GOLDEN STREET – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 6: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA MAIDEN H’CAP – 1210M

GET SMOKIN’ – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground, and then commenced to buck and, as a result, took no competitive part in the race. Trainer R. Mackay was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

I KNOW YVES – Steadied to avoid heels passing the 1000m and shifted wider on the track.

TAPROCK – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer R. Stephenson was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

HOT CORONA – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained in the early stages.

CUPID’S AFFAIR – As App. C. Frater-Hill was indisposed due to illness, jockey S. Bogenhuber was substituted as rider when no other apprentice was available. When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly improved performance, the stable representative for Mr. B. Currie advised that the gelding did not appear to handle the sand track at its most recent start at Gympie. He added that prior to this, whilst the horse’s form was only reasonable, the stable was of the opinion that it was satisfactory enough to expect a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation.

SO HELP ME GOD – Failed to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, and declared a late scratching at 7.52pm.

LITTLE ALBERT – Momentarily held up when attempting to secure clear running rounding the home turn.

Race 7: MOORE TRAILERS MAIDEN PLATE – 1640M

BENICSTRESS – Forced wider on the track by another runner approaching the 700m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder.

VELITES – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

EVENING – Made the crossing at the 1500m awkwardly and, as a result, shifted wider on the track. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room near the 750m.

FAKE NEWS – Slow to begin and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated. When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey E. Ljung advised that after being slow to begin the mare settled towards the tail of the field, and never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race. She added that when placed under pressure near the 700m the horse failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Ljung went on to say that, in her opinion, the mare may not have backed up, having its third run in consecutive weeks. Stewards noted the explanation.

MORE OF MARY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

RUBY RED SLIPPERS – Raced in restricted room near the 1500m.
