SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Trainer R. Lipp reported to Stewards that SCOTCHVIEW bled from both nostrils during trackwork on 22 January 2019.  Mr. Lipp was therefore advised that the horse will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

Race 1: M&K CONSTRUCTION GROUP CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

THE LAWYER – Bumped heavily on jumping away and became unbalanced. Jockey E. Ljung could offer no tangible explanation for the performance of the gelding which she stated had failed to run on in the home straight as she had anticipated.

RAYMAX – As Apprentice S. Vella was unable to arrive on course to fulfil her engagement due to transport difficulties, Apprentice M. Wishart was substituted as rider. Laid out rounding the home turn.

BY THE LAW – After being bumped on the hindquarters, the gelding was buffeted between runners for some distance passing the 200m and, as a result, had to be steadied by its rider.

CARPE NOCTEM – Bumped on jumping away.

PROUD’S SEQUEL – Slow to begin.

BATTEN – Commenced to lay in leaving the 200m, and made contact with the hindquarters of another runner.

PUNTO NERO – Jumped in the air at the start, and was then bumped heavily by another runner.

THE INTERN – Had to be eased whilst racing in restricted room near the 900m.

LADY SELKIE – Laid out when struck with the whip in the early stages of the home straight and, as a result, bumped RAYMAX. Jockey Beau Appo was advised to exercise more care, and that Stewards expect him to straighten his mounts much quicker than he did on this occasion when shifting ground.

HAY LIFE – As P. Romeo was required to fulfil riding engagements at another venue, R. Faehr was substituted as rider. Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 2: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1625M

The declaration of correct weight was slightly delayed to enable jockey J. Stanley to view the photo-finish print for 4th place. After viewing the print, he was satisfied with the Judge’s semaphored numbers.

ADSUM – Proved somewhat difficult to load and then became fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey B. Pengelly could offer no explanation for the poor performance of the gelding which, in his opinion, failed to quicken from the 600m. Trainer L. Hatch advised that in light of the poor performance the gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SICARIO – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer C. Rabjones-Tyrell regarding the late scratching of the gelding at 7.50am.

DAZZLE EM SID – Raced keenly in the early stages.

HENRY’S ON COURSE – As Apprentice S. Vella was unable to arrive on course to fulfil her engagement due to transport difficulties, Apprentice N. Fazackerley was substituted as rider.

KOPELLA – When attempting to secure inside runs, the mare was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at heels passing the 200m.

Race 3: VALE PETER OVERELL CLASS 2 PLATE – 1050M

BLACK CRUSADE – Slow into stride. Laid in in the home straight, and was steadied from heels near the 250m and again near the 150m.

WALL STREET TYCOON – Dipped on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

YOUR OPTION – Began awkwardly. Raced 4 wide throughout.

Race 4: FURNEYS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M

BELLBOY EXPRESS – Slow to begin.

MARROCK – Checked passing the 800m to avoid the heels of LAYLA’S LAD which shifted in when not completely clear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils.  Trainer B. Currie was advised that the horse will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

STAR ADELE – Held up rounding the home turn.

Race 5: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

A LITTLE CRAFTY – Began awkwardly and lost some ground.

KASITA – Shifted wider on the track on jumping away.
