Race 1: MITAVITE QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1110M
 
FACTORY WARRIOR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out whilst racing keenly approaching the 900m and, as a result, made contact with UNO AMOR. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WAIT A MINUTE – Blundered on jumping away and lost ground. Steadied from heels approaching the 400m. Jockey G. Geran reported that after blundering at the start, the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting the thumps and a slow post-race recovery.
 
HARD YAGA – Began awkwardly. Held up for some distance in the home straight whilst hanging in behind IN HER ZONE. Jockey J. Bayliss was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
UNO AMOR – Raced 3 wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Made contact with FACTORY WARRIOR approaching the 100m.
 
SPIRITOSA – Hampered on jumping away.
 
IN HER ZONE – Began awkwardly and made contact with QUANYIN.
 
QUANYIN – Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the 250m.
 
WEARETENFORTYEIGHT – Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start. Disappointed for a run and momentarily steadied approaching the 100m.
 
Race 2: ENTERPRISE LEGAL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1300M
 
JUNCTION – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted in approaching the 550m and made contact with the running rail.
 
SPIRIT’S SILK – Steadied from heels in the home straight when BATTEN (E. Ljung) shifted out. Jockey E. Ljung was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.  
 
LADY MICAELA – Steadied near the 1100m when JUNCTION (App. N. Keal) shifted in. Apprentice N. Keal was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
 
Race 3: HAPPY 58TH BIRTHDAY REECE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 870M
 
The start of this race was delayed when JET A ONE got is off hind leg up on the ledge of the barrier.
 
FEELING READY – Slow to begin.
 
JET A ONE – Began awkwardly and shifted out hampering PANIAGUA. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Stewards will follow-up with Trainer Mr. T. Sears in the coming days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
 
PANIAGUA – Hampered at the start and lost ground. Hung in throughout which resulted in jockey K. Yoshida being unable to fully test his mount. Trainer M. Frappell will be advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding.
 
POINTSTOHAPPINESS – Stewards permitted Apprentice N. Keal to claim only ½ kg of his 1½ kg allowance. Apprentice N. Keal was fined $200 for failing to claim his full allowance.
 
MOCKING – Hung out from the 550m until entering the home straight.
 
PERFECT SAGA – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Stewards will follow-up with Trainer Mr. B. Smith in the coming days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
 
Race 4: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 870M
 
JUST FAVULOUS – Bumped at the start. Jockey R. Goltz reported that after being bumped at the start, the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and proved disappointing.
 
HIGHFALUTIN – Bumped by another running approaching the 550m.
 
LE BEAU RENARD – Shifted out approaching the 550m and bumped another runner. Checked near the 400m when crowded for room between HIGHFALUTIN (J. Oliver) and JONDY DES (D. McIntosh) which shifted out slightly. Apprentice A. Thompson reported that when crowded for room near the 400m his mount overreacted and put its head in the air when he took hold at that point.
 
BRUTUS – Improved onto heels approaching the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
THE BUMBLEBEE – Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with JUST FAVULOUS.
 
COOK STRAIGHT – Tightened for room and eased shortly after the start.
 
Race 5: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP MAIDEN H’CAP – 1110M
 
BIANCHI BRAVO – Slow to begin.
 
SPUR WING – Slow to begin.
 
DANNIWILLBREEZONBY – As Apprentice N. Keal was unable to claim any of his allowance, Apprentice A. Thompson was substituted as rider. Apprentice N. Keal was fined $100. Stewards questioned Trainer M. Currie and Apprentice A. Thompson in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare in the early and middle stages. Mr. Currie advised that he had instructed Apprentice Thompson to ride the mare out of the barrier in an attempt to lead in the first 200m and, if unable to do so, to settle into a positon. Apprentice Thompson confirmed the instructions and stated that each time he attempted to go forward MERGE (J. Oliver) improved to his inside preventing him from crossing to the lead. Apprentice Thompson added that he had made an attempt to ease however MERGE also eased keeping him in a 3 wide position. Stewards advised Apprentice Thompson that he should have made a greater effort from the 900m to ease and take up a trailing position, however they elected to take the matter no further other than to refer this ride to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training Department for further review and tuition.
 
MERGE – Trainer M. Costa reported that the gelding had bled from one nostril, which was subsequently confirmed by the veterinary surgeon. Mr. Costa was advised that the gelding must satisfactorily gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing.
 
GREY COURT – Raced in restricted room to the inside of MERGE (J. Oliver) from the 550m until approaching the 400m where it made contact with the hindquarters of MERGE. Jockey Oliver was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.
 
Race 6: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1640M
 
INKULU – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained approaching the 1000m.
 
Race 7: WIN LOCAL NEWS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1640M
 
MINOR LUCK – Hung out badly throughout. Trainer N. Hocking was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SCILAGO – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels approaching the 1500m.
 
CANFORD TREE – Shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip near the 500m.
