WALL STREET TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.
SOGNI – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
COLPO DI TAMBURO – Raced in restricted room in the early stages. Clipped heels and blundered near the 900m when WIRNPA shifted in. Apprentice M. Wishart, the rider of WIRNPA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of COLPO DI TAMBURO which clipped heels and blundered. Apprentice Wishart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days to commence at midnight on Sunday 18 August 2019, being the expiration date of a pending period of suspension, and expire at midnight on Friday 30 August 2019. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Wishart’s guilty plea.

In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Wilcock’s guilty plea, and her prior good record in relation to this rule.
Race 2: DORNBUSCH PARTNERS BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1210M
The start of this race was delayed to enable an adjustment to be made to the running rail.
HIDDEN BUDGET – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Apprentice N. Keal advised that the mare, which performed disappointingly despite racing wide, had felt short in its action on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be short in its action, however it was not lame. The trainer’s representative, Mr. J. Banks, undertook to advise Stewards should anything come to light in the coming days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
SUPERSONIC BOOM – Knuckled on jumping away.
BEL BEAU – Steadied whilst rounding the home turn to avoid the heels of CAPTAIN CRUMPET (Beau Appo) which shifted out when not completely clear. As a result, BEL BEAU, had to shift to the inside to secure clear running. Jockey Appo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.
MASSIVE ATTACK – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

PURRFECT TRICK – Jumped with its head in the air. Raced keenly in the early stages.
WESTBROOK WARRIOR – Slow to begin.
POLLINATOR – When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, Apprentice M. Wishart advised that the mare travelled fairly during the early and middle stages, however it failed to run on as she had expected when placed under pressure. She added that, in her opinion, the mare may not have backed up from its run at Caloundra on Sunday 28 July 2019. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no apparent abnormalities.
VELITES – Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for a considerable distance approaching the home turn. Following the race, jockey R. Goltz reported that he was suffering some discomfort in his right quad, however he indicated that he was able to fulfil his remaining engagement.
GOTHIC ROMANCE – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn, and was steadied to avoid heels. On return to scale, jockey N. Thomas advised that he believed something was amiss with the mare and, for that reason, he had dismounted from the horse. A veterinary examination conducted immediately following the race revealed the mare to be sore in its near fore leg, however upon cooling down the horse did not exhibit any signs of being lame. Nevertheless, as the connections advised that the horse has previously undergone surgery on that leg, the veterinary surgeon recommended that a veterinary clearance be provided prior to the mare next racing, and the connections were advised accordingly.
EXPERT REPLY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey Beau Appo reported that his mount hung out throughout.
OUR GRACIOUS DANE – Began awkwardly, and shifted out abruptly on jumping away. The saddle shifted forward near the 1400m placing jockey K. Yoshida at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. Jockey Yoshida advised that, as a result of the saddle shifting forward, he allowed his mount to stride forward from the 1200m.
GLYCINE MAX – As J. Woodhouse was to be overweight, Apprentice Z. White was substituted as rider. Jockey Woodhouse was fined $100. Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground.

SWING SHIFT – Forced wider on the track by another runner rounding the turn near the 1300m. Apprentice M. Savva was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Savva’s prior good record in relation to this rule, however they were also mindful of the totality of her whip use.
MISS SILKY – Overraced in the early stages, and shifted wider on the track rounding the turn near the 1300m. After being caught wide, the filly was allowed to stride forward to obtain the leading position approaching the 900m.
