GENERAL
 
As G. Geran was not riding at the meeting today, a riding replacement was made in Race 6 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 1110M
 
BRIS VEGAS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Bumped by another runner near the 400m.
 
DIXIE LAD – Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.
 
BRUTUS – Became reluctant to race between runners when placed in restricted room near the 850m. Held up and unable to improve near the 400m and, as a result, bumped another runner.
 
ALLEVIATOR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey S. Cormack was cautioned in relation to using his whip on consecutive occasions prior to the 100m.
 
BRUMBY JACK – Slow to begin.
 
LOVESON – Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels at the 400m.
 
CHOCOLATE OREO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
NO QUALM – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: RAY BUNCH MACHINERY FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 1110M
 
The start of this race was delayed when FEARLESS QUEEN broke through the front of the barriers and was restrained by its rider after going a short distance. Upon returning to the barriers, the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
GINGERSNAP – Began awkwardly. Laid in from the 500m and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.
 
ROUND MOUNTAIN GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BROOKER AVENUE – After beginning only fairly and being caught wide in the early stages, the mare was restrained by its rider to a position closer to the rail to obtain a position one off the fence near the 900m and, as a result, settled further back than anticipated. Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
SPLENDID SPIRIT – Momentarily steadied after being crossed near the 1000m.
 
Race 3: BLACK & WHITE CABS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1210M
 
CATMOSPHERE – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
JET A ONE – After standing awkwardly in the barriers, the colt began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 4: FURNEYS BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1880M
 
ROSENDAHL RED – Slow to begin.
 
PHOENIX FLYER – After being caught wide in the early stages, Apprentice N. Masuda rode his mount forward to obtain the leading position near the 1400m.
 
HARADIFY – Threw its head in the air on jumping away. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and unable to improve. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 150m. Jockey S. Cormack was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
MR MISUNDERSTOOD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ERROL – Slow to muster early speed. On return to scale, jockey J. Oliver advised that he had concerns with the horse’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off fore leg. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
THE POTATO PONTIFF – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 1300m and raced ungenerously for a short distance whilst being restrained.
 
Race 5: MOORE TRAILERS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1880M
 
FURY OF THE STORM – After being caught wide in the early stages, jockey S. Cormack permitted his mount to stride forward to obtain the leading position near the 1300m.
 
STEADY STAR – Tightened for room on jumping away. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up slightly rounding the home turn.
 
SWING SHIFT – Held up slightly rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR RED JET – Due to the tempo of the race, jockey A. Allen permitted his mount to stride forward from the 1200m and obtained a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
HE’S ALL WHITE – Knuckled shortly after the start.
 
IDIDITMYWAY – Declared a late scratching at 9.20am for veterinary reasons.
 
RAW INSTINCT – Shortly after passing the winning post on the first occasion, the mare was momentarily placed in restricted room and eased and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
Race 6: AG RIGGING MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
Jockey L. Tilley took a seemingly harmless fall when dislodged from ASCOT PRINCESS during the preliminary.
 
BARTA LINES – Slow to begin.
 
MULHOLLAND MAN – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DANCE MONKEY – Declared a late scratching at 4.22pm for veterinary reasons.
 
SILVAPLANA – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer L. Richardson regarding the late declaration of R. Goltz as rider. Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room and lost ground.
 
ASCOT PRINCESS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
HAUNTED HOUSE – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer B. Gorman regarding the late declaration of Apprentice A. Thompson as rider. Bumped heavily on jumping away and lost ground. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority.
 
Race 7: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1210M
 
As RED GARTER was heavily in season and unable to be safely saddled, the filly was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 7.43pm. On the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on RED GARTER prior to 7.43pm be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
7 cents in the dollar for the Win #2
7 cents in the dollar for place for winner #2
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #7
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #8
 
The start of this race was delayed when GREAT BRAVE, which lunged forward in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
NAVAL STRIKE – Slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed. Steadied and shifted outwards when awkwardly placed at heels near the 300m.
 
WEATHER MAN – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start. Steadied to avoid heels approaching the 850m.
 
POINT THE WAGON – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer V. Heading regarding the late declaration of C. Taylor as rider. Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping another runner. On return to scale, jockey C. Taylor reported that the gelding felt short in its action in the home straight and, for that reason, he desisted from riding his mount out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery.
 
Race 8: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1210M
 
The start of this race was delayed when DON’T STOP, which reared in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
DON’T STOP – Slow to muster early speed.
 
MOTAL – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start.
 
MOMEMORY – Declared a late scratching at 4.20pm for veterinary reasons.
 
CHAMPAGNE SALLY – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer L. Hatch regarding the late declaration of S. Bogenhuber as rider.
 
SIZZALATING – Cast a plate in the tie-up stall which had to be refitted prior to entering the enclosure. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
