Race1: HYGAIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1300m
 
The start was delayed when BY BY MUSIC proved difficult to load. A warning was placed on the geldings barrier manners.
 
STATEMENT OF FAITH- Leaving the 1200m, was placed in restricted room to the inside of HALLSIDE HOT STUFF (P. Randall) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey P. Randall was advised to exercise more care. Held up when awkwardly placed at heels for some distance passing the 300m.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF- Steadied to avoid heels near the 150m.
 
I’M KATE- Tightened for room and eased near the 300m when STATEMENT OF FAITH (N. Evans) shifted out and RHYME TIME (L. Tilley) shifted in. Both Jockey N. Evans and L. Tilley were advised to exercise more care.
 
STAZZANA- Stewards accepted trainer K. Geran’s explanation for the late rider declaration. Tightened for room on jumping.
 
RHYME TIME- Began awkwardly bumping another runner. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Jockey L. Tilley was fined $100 under AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
 
BY BY MUSIC- Raced keenly in the early stages.  Near the 150m was steadied when placed in restricted room by RHYME TIME which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey L. Tilley was advised to exercise more care.
 
TOP SOCIETY- Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
Race 2: TAB LOMG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP - 1210m
 
REACH FOR HEAVEN (NZ)- Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: BLACK AND WHITE CABS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1650m
 
The start was delayed when THE HAND proved difficult to load.
 
MURLESS (NZ)- Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a more forward position than recent starts. Subsequently settled in a mid-field position. As trainer R. Stephenson was absent from the meeting, stewards will contact him in relation to the geldings seemingly improved performance.
 
HIGHER LOVE- Near the 500m was momentarily held up at the heels of a tiring runner.
 
LEOPARD QUEEN- Upon returning to scale Jockey J. Lyon advised that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ELJETEM- App. Isabella Rabjones was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 4: ENTERPRISE LEGAL MAIDEN PLATE - 1210m
 
THE GROUSE- Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a more forward position than recent starts. Was ridden accordingly.
 
BISHOJO- Began very awkwardly with its head in the air and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
MATILDA GENE- Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Near the 1100m was forced to take evasive action to avoid a fallen rider. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
CHAMPAGNE AUNTY- When attempting to obtain a position with cover near the 1100m clipped heels whilst laying in and as a result dislodged its rider. Jockey N. Evans was transported to hospital for assessment on a leg injury and for further observation.
 
AMBIGUOUS- Near the 900m was checked when inconvenienced by a riderless horse. Jockey Paul Randall was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
GLENGORMLEY- Raced wide without cover throughout and was forced wider by a riderless horse near the 700m.
 
BOOMTOWN BABE- Raced wide in the early stages before being forced wider by a riderless horse near the 700m. App. Isabella Rabjones was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 5: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1000m
 
ARROW EXPRESS- Began only fairly and was further hampered when bumped at the start.
 
VICEMAN- Jockey Paul Hamblin was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
EASY COME- Stewards questioned App. A. Patis in relation to the seemingly below expectation performance of the gelding. App. Patis advised that after beginning only fairly she rode her mount along in the early stages in an endeavour to obtain the leading position. App. Patis went on to say that from the 800m, when able to find the lead the gelding travelled strongly during the event, however in the home straight, failed to run on as she had expected and in her opinion was disappointing. Trainer T. Sears advised that in his opinion the strong tempo set during the middle stages was a contributing factor to the horses’ performance however beyond this could offer no further explanation in regards to the horses run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 6: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1880m
 
SCHWARZY- Slow to begin.
 
GREAT SHINE- Began awkwardly. Near the 1600m was steadied to avoid heels.
 
LUNAFREYA- Over raced badly during the middle stages and proved difficult to restrain.
 
ZOFGOLD- Raced wide during the middle stages.
 
DYDEE’S GIRL- Jockey Girish Goomany was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 7: AUDI CNETRE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE - 1650m
 
BARBICAN- Over raced during the early and middle stages. Jockey Les Tilley was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
LOVE HURTS (NZ)- Slow to muster early speed. Hung out throughout.
 
WOOLLAHRA- Raced wide without cover throughout.
