QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – +3 metres 800-600; + 5 metres remainder PENETROMETER – 4.87 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HitchenerStewards – J Childs, B Cooke, P Jenkins & B McErleanClerk of Scales – D Rossiter Judge – S Fahey & B Poelstra Veterinarian – N HamillSwab Attendants – D McDonald & R Burchmann Starter – T Woodham Stewards Secretary – B McErlean SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Due to transport difficulties Jockey P Hamblin was unable to attend the meeting with rider changes as per the stewards summary. Race 1: V.J. BUTLER MEMORIAL SUMMER PROVINCIAL SERIES - HEAT BENCHMARK 72 Hand 1300 metres LYRICAL PRINCE - Near the 550m was tightened for room and eased when PLANET PRINCE (Jockey P Randall) laid in and away from COLPO DI TANBURO (Jockey B Moffat) which improved to that runners outside. COLPO DI TAMBURO - Jockey B Moffat was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 6 occasions. FISH ON - Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide from the 700m. Upon returning to scale Jockey S Bogenhuber reported that in her opinion the gelding was not suited by the undulating nature of the Toowoomba track. JOCHBERG - Near the 550m was eased when ROSSMAY (Jockey G Goomany) improved onto heels and was forced to shift out. TYCOON STREET - Steadied from heels near the 550m. Near the 400m improved onto heels and was checked and then had some difficulties securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight. ROSSMAY - Near the 550m improved onto heels and shifted out. Race 2: BUTLERS CONCRETE CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 metres Start was delayed due to a plumbing issue which lead to no water being available in the tie up stall area for a short time. After this matter was resolved the starting time was amended to 6:00pm. KAORU KING - Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover until a point near the 500m. Stewards questioned trainer J Edwards in relation to the seemingly improved performance. Mr Edwards advised that as the gelding was having its first start for his stable in tonight’s event, he was unable to comment on the horses’ prior form. Mr Edwards did however advise that the gelding had jumped out well in preparation for tonight’s event and as such had expected a forward showing. Stewards noted the explanation. AMERICAN CROWN - Began awkwardly making heavy contact with another runner. INTIMATE TYCOON - Knuckled shortly after the start. SUPER FREAK - Due to transport difficulties App K Cowan was delayed arriving on course and was unable to fulfill her engagement for race 2 and therefore was replaced by App M Savva. HERECUM DA DRUMS - Bumped heavily at the start, lost ground and then failed to muster early speed. SCARE CAMPAIGN - Laid in during the middle stages. Race 3: AUSTMIX AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 metres ACCUMULATED - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance App. N Fazakerley advised that after beginning well the gelding was able to obtain its customary forward position however during the event the gelding was unable to settle as a result of AFTER THE STORM racing keenly to its outside. App N Fazakerley was of the opinion this factor, combined with the large weight impost the gelding was required to carry were the major contributing factors to the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. HEART OF KINGS - Jockey P Randall was issued a $300 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 7 occasions. CONQUER MEE - Began awkwardly. Near the 800m momentarily steadied to avoid heels. Laid out in the early stages. SHE'S CROWNED - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Near the 600m laid in and made contact with the running rail and as a result became unbalanced. When questioned to the below performance expectation trainer P Sexton reported the mare had been working well and could offer no tangible explanation for the performance. Mr Sexton undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to tonight’s meeting should any abnormality become apparent which may have had an effect on the mare’s performance in tonight’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery. AFTER THE STORM - After being bumped near the 250m was taken in by another runner. DREAMALINA - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey V Venkaya was issued a $300 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 6 occasions. Race 4: JOE WAGNER GROUP QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 12metres The start was delayed when DRACONIAN HEART became fractious in the barriers. The filly was removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently passed fit to start. MAGIC IN ME - Raced keenly and proved difficult to restrain during the early stages. LITTLE MISS PIXIE - Held up for a considerable distance approaching and rounding the home turn. MR BROSE - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. TOUCH OF BALI - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the performance of the filly which was a last start winner Jockey K Yoshida advised that after beginning well he was caught wide and therefore elected to restrain to a mid-field position with cover in an endeavour to obtain a position closer to the rail. Jockey K Yoshida advised that as a result of this the filly raced keenly in the early stages whilst being restrained which he felt resulted in the horse failing to run on from the 600m. Jockey K Yoshida added that in his opinion the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. ANGELS SHARE - Slow to begin. MADE OF MONEY – Jockey S Lacy reported the filly raced greenly throughout the event. DRACONIAN HEART- Became fractious in the barriers and then tailed the field for the majority of the event taking no competitive part. Trainers representative Ms N Hemmings was advised that in light of the filly’s barrier manners and competitiveness in the event that it would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to next racing. GRAND- Laid out from the 600m. Race 5: MOCO Maiden Handicap 870 metres HAIRY LOVER - Near the 450m was bumped and momentarily became unbalanced. PATH AHEAD - Raced greenly during the event. MOSKOGEE - Slow to begin. BETTER IN THAN OUT – Laid in slightly under pressure in the home straight. OUR SHANIA - Tightened for room at the start. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. YAZZI JEAN - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SNIP OF GIN - Approaching the 400m momentarily raced in restricted room. App M Savva was issued a $800 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 8 occasions. As this was App M Savva’s 9th breach of this rule since the introduction of the rider penalty guidelines for whip rule breaches, App M Savva was referred to the Racing Queensland apprentice training department for remedial training with respect to these matters. Race 6: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA Maiden Handicap 870 metres ALL JEED UP - Laid out rounding the home turn. FAV'S FLYER - Slow to begin. LUCY TOO- Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn. COOL ESPRESSO- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey A Spinkswas issued a $500 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 6 occasions. Race 7: EASTCOAST CONCRETE CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1650 metres LOUIE LA'JOY- When questioned as to the below market expectation performance Jockey N Fazakerley advised that the gelding failed to show its customary early speed and from a point near the 800m was under pressure and in his opinion raced very flat today. Trainer C White reported that in light of tonight’s performance the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell. PALACE TYCOON - Steadied by its rider when in restricted room near the 500m. Upon returning to scale Jockey R Goldsbury reported that PALACE TYCOON felt short in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the offside fore leg. Trainer J Judge was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again. ARUBA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and as a consequence settled further forward than anticipated. Race 8: MARY BUTLER Class 1 Plate 1650 metres DREAM POLICE - Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up and unable to improve from the 500m until near the 250m. GRAZIANO - Jockey R Goldsbury was issued a reprimand under AR132(5) in that she used her whip in an excessive manner, that being 15 occasions. I'M CALLIN' DIBS - Began awkwardly. OUR BOY TRAV - Near the 400m when commencing to weaken was placed in restricted room and eased when I’M CALLIN DIBS (Jockey J Adams) shifted out to secure clear running Jockey J Adams was advised to exercise more care. OAKFIELD TICKETS - On returning to scale jockey S Lacy reported her mount felt short in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr C Geran was advised he would need to obtain veterinary clearance for the mare prior to it next racing. Jockey S Lacy was issued a $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 6 occasions. JABALIC - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
