QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 05 DECEMBER 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUEPENETROMETER – 4.93 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Hitchener Stewards – J Childs, L Carvosso, P Jenkins & B McErleanClerk of Scales – A CucksonJudge – S Faehy & B PoelstraVeterinarian – G Selvestri Swab Attendants – D McDonald Starter – T WoodhamStewards Secretary – Race 1: VANDERFIELD - RDO BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres The start of race 1 was delayed due to the late arrival of the ambulance. The new start time was amended to 4:35pm. CRAFTY COP – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. JE SUIS BELLE – Knuckled on jumping. DIVI – Near the 300m momentarily raced in restricted room. MADDIARA – Hung out for the majority of the event. DRAGON MISS – Jockey R Palmer was issued a $300 fine underAR132(5) for using the whip in an excessive manner, that being 16 occasions. Race 2: VANDERFIELD HINO BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer M Currie in relation to the late rider declaration of App. E MacPherson as the rider of CINCINNATI RED. The start was delayed when BUZZER BEATER became fractious in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. TEARS OF LOVE – Laid out rounding the home turn. ESKDALE GIRL – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. Following the event Stewards spoke to Jockey M Crawford with respect to his use of the whip on the mare. Whilst Stewards accepted that Jockey M Crawford’s whip use did not constitute a breach of the whip rule in that his hands remained on the reins at all times he was nevertheless advised to modify his whip technique so as to not give the appearance that his mounts were being struck in a manner in which would constitute a breach of the whip rules QUART POT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SHADYVALE STAR – Tightened for room at the start and lost some ground. Near the 900m was steadied from heels. MISSLLEERS – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being on 6 occasions. ALADINA (NZ) – After being slightly slow to begin was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey J Morris was issued a $300 fine under AR132(5) for using the whip in an excessive manner, that being 15 occasions. CINCINNATI RED (NZ) – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. GRANDE CASADORA – Raced in restricted room in the early stages before being restrained by its rider. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Race 3: VANDERFIELD JOHN DEERE Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres FIGHTING COMMANDO - After being crossed passing the 1200m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained for some distance. CHAMPAGNE AUNTY - Over raced in the early and middles stages and had a tendency to lay in throughout the event and ss a consequence proved somewhat difficult to ride out from the 400m. Trainer S Tregea will be advised that a warning will be placed on the mare. COUNT THE COIN - Slow to begin. As a result of racing keenly during the middle stages the mare was shifted wider by its rider at the 800m and as a consequence raced wide for the remainder. Following the event jockey S Bogenbuber reported that in her opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. In light of today’s performance Trainer K Kemp advised that the gelding would be sent for a spell. SISTER KATHLEEN - Slow to begin. BEACH CLUB – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 4: HORSCH @ VANDERFIELD Class 1 Handicap 1625 metres RECALL EVENTS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. STAR CENTRE - Had some difficulty securing clear running passing the 150m. SAYS WHO - Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. SWEET RIVIERE - Had some difficulties securing clear running for a short distance passing the 200m. Bumped by another runner near the 100m and was then steadied when placed in restricted room over the concluding stages. JABALIC - Began awkwardly. SERRIANO - Over raced for a short distance near the 1300m. Raced 3 wide with cover from the 900m. TOTTEN - Over raced and proved difficult to retrain during the early and middle stages. BOLTIN’ DESIRE – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leading passing the 1200m. Race 5: KUHN @ VANDERFIELD BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1850 metres SARASUN – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was issued a $500 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 8 occasions. BEL BEAU - Over raced and proved difficult to restrain in the early and middle stages. SPIRIT OF EDYN - Near the 900m was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Race 6: FURNEYS STOCK FEEDS Maiden Plate 1300 metres SET BEAT- Upon arrival at the barriers Apprentice E MacPherson requested a veterinary examination of the gelding. Subsequently the mare was declared a late scratching @7:42pm on veterinary advice after being found to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer S Walding was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SET BEAT be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful bets placed prior to 7:42pm – 1st 0c the win, 1c the place 2nd 2c the place3rd 2c the place ENJOY THE SHOW- Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 900m. Raced greenly during the event. LET'S BOOM - Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. MYKISS FROMA ROSE - Commenced to buck shortly after the start and continued to do so for some distance, taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer M Boland advised that the mare would now be immediately retired from racing. Nevertheless, Trainer M Boland was advised by stewards that as this was the 4th occasion that the mare had bucked during an event its nomination would now be refused from racing. Race 7: SANDER PARTNERS ACCOUNTANTS AND ADVISORS Maiden Plate 1050 metres Start was slightly delayed when a gear adjustment was required on ROULETTE. HISGRACE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROULETTE - Slow to begin. STORMTROOPER – Laid in under pressure approaching the 100m and was steadied and then over the concluding stages laid out for a short distance and as a result went to the line without being fully tested. BEATING DRUM – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. POSEY COUNTY – Raced 3 wide throughout. Jockey M Gray was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. SHELLEY'S SPIRIT – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. ZARAGIGI – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. LEADBURN NICCI – Severely tightened at the start and lost ground. Near the 900m momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room. Approaching the 100m was forced inwards by another runner and as a result was forced to alter course to the outside to secure clear running. Race 8: WIN LOCAL NEWS Maiden Plate 1050 metres EPIC REIGN - Trainer R Lipp was issued a $100 fine under AR67 for the late declaration of a rider.Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. VERY SOON – As Jockey H Phillips was indisposed after riding at the Nanango meeting she was replaced as the rider of the mare by Jockey J Geppert. Began awkwardly making heavy contact with another runner. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority. REGAL EYES - After being loaded in the barriers became fractious. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching @8:56pm on veterinary advice. Trainer N Hocking was advised the mare would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on REGAL EYES be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful bets placed prior to 7:42pm – 1st 0c the win, 1c the place 2nd 1c the place3rd 4c the place ORSON – Stewards questioned trainer T Sears with respect to the gelding racing further forward in todays event. Mr Sears advised that as this was the first start the gelding had had in his stable he was unable to explain the horses previous racing pattern. Mr Sears added that the gelding had jumped out twice in preparation for tonight’s event and on both occasions had settled in a forward position and for that reason had expected it to settle in a forward in tonight’s event however was somewhat surprised to see the gelding leading. Stewards noted the explanation. BEAN DARE DUN DAT - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. LINTHORPE LAD – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced greenly throughout. CHERAX DESTRUCTOR – Raced in restricted room when a runner to its outside raced greenly for some distance. OUR ROCKIN' – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
