QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2020 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SOFT 5 RAIL – +2.5 METERES ENTIRE PENETROMETER – 5.04 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L Hicks Stewards – J Childs, P Jenkins & B McErlean Clerk of Scales – D Rossiter Judge – S Fahey & B Poelstra Veterinarian – Dr C WainSwab Attendants – D McDonald & R Burchmann Starter – T WoodhamApprentice Advocate – B Saunders Stewards Secretary – B McErlean GENERAL Following the running of race 5 trainer P Kings was observed decanting toothpaste into a syringe by Stewards in the horse stall area. A subsequent search of Mr King’s race day bag identified the presence of a further sealed, unused syringe and a sealed, unused needle. Upon questioning trainer P Kings advised that he had intended to use the syringe containing the toothpaste for personal use for a medical condition. Mr Kings further advised that he was unaware of the presence of the additional syringe and needle and further denied that any race day treatment had occurred to his sole runner at tonight’s meeting namely ANACHEEVA LAD. A pre-race veterinary examination of ANACHEEVA LAD did not reveal any obvious signs of administration of recent treatment. Whilst stewards were satisfied that there appeared to be no immediate signs of race day treatment and were satisfied there was no further evidence of prohibited substances being located in the possession of Mr Kings he was nevertheless issued with a charge pursuant to AR251(1)(a) for having in his possession a needle and 2 syringes on course. Trainer P Kings was fined $300. Swab samples were taken from the gelding for analysis. Race 1: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1300 metres VASSA BLUE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MAXIMUM HUSTLE – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with FORGTTEN FEELING (Jockey G Goomany). Raced keen in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in approaching and leaving the 900m. HERECUM DA DRUMS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 400m until rounding the home turn and then again in the early stages of the home straight. OYASHIO DRIFT – Near the 700m was bumped by FORGOTTEN FEELING (Jockey G Goomany) which shifted in marginally. Approaching 550m was buffered between DUNNERS and FORGOTTEN FEELING for a number of strides.Approaching the 200m was bumped by FORGOTTEN FEELING. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an abnormal breathing noise. Trainer J Capewell was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance with satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing or trialling again. FORGOTTEN FEELING – Raced three wide throughout. LADY SELKIE – At the 1100m steadied, from the heels of DUNNERS (Jockey J Morris). Apprentice E MacPherson was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 2: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1300 metres The start was delayed when upon arriving at the barriers Jockey J Morris requested a veterinary examination on INCHING CLOSER. Subsequently the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. THE IRONS – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters shortly after jumping. Raced wide throughout. TRAIL OF GLORY – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost considerable ground. Held up for clear running entering the home straight when JAYDEE INDY (Jockey N Evans) commenced to weaken and a short distance late again was inconvenienced when the tiring JAYDEE INDY shifted in. JAYDEE INDY – Tightened between runners on jumping. Stewards questioned Jockey N Evans in regards to the tactics adopted as the gelding settled further forward than anticipated. Jockey N Evans stated that after being tightened between runners shortly after the start he elected to press his mount forward to a position outside the leader, where comfortable near the 1100m. Jockey N Evans further added that when he applied pressure near the 500m the gelding failed to respond and proved disappointing. INCHING CLOSER – Slow to begin. Jockey J Morris was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. HIGHER LOVE – Shifted out shortly after the start. Was steadied from the heels of JAYDEE INDY (Jockey N Evans) when crossed near the 1100m. Jockey N Evans was advised to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances. Race 3: MARCUR INFERENCE Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres MISS NASTY was declared a late scratching at 3:47pm by order of the stewards as the mare was injured whilst being transported to the track. Trainer L Wanless was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again. BRAZEN DYNAMO – Over raced during the early and middle stages. URALBA – Began awkwardly bumping another runner on jumping. Shifted out when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. HIDDEN SECRET – Raced wide without cover until a point near the 600m. JIM'S PRINCESS – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer M Boland was advised the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. BLOOMING LILY – Bumped on jumping. Near the 100m when commencing to weaken was momentarily placed in restricted room by another runner and was eased. IN HAVANA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: TTC MEMBERS' APPRECIATION DAY Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Hand 1050 metres EXCEED ROCK - Began awkwardly. Jockey J Adams was reminded of his obligations in relation to raising his whip arm above shoulder height. DERUMOR – Slow to begin. SPECIAL CASE – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Race 5: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS Maiden Handicap 12metres ALL JEED UP – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Raced keenly in the early stages. DELAYED LAUNCH – Began awkwardly resulting in Apprentice N Fazackerley becoming unbalanced. Approaching the 700m was steadied when improved onto the heels of ROMACE FACTOR (Jockey G Goomany). ROMANCE FACTOR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. NORSE MYTHOLOGY – Raced keenly in the early stages. COMET'S ARCH – Approaching the 700m was bumped and shifted wider by SNIP OF GIN (App. M Savva) which shifted out. At the 200m had to alter course when awkwardly placed at the heels of DELAYED LAUNCH (App. N Fazackerley) which shifted in. Apprentice N Fazackerley was issued a reprimand under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. MISTA LONGHORN – After being slow to begin was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost further ground. Failed to muster any early speed. SNIP OF GIN – Began awkwardly bumping another runner. Near the 1000m when racing keenly was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner. Apprentice M Savva reported that the mare had a tendency to hang out throughout. Race 6: PRYDE'S EASIFEED QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres BUDDHA – Bumped on jumping. CRACK OF DOOM – Laid in under pressure from the 400m. Jockey J Morris was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. YANGSEA – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Raced greenly throughout the event. GOLDEN GROOVE – Near the 400m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of CRACK OF DOOM (Jockey J Morris) which shifted in. Jockey J Morris was issued a reprimand under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. ILLICIATE AFFAIRS – Trainer T Sears was fined $200 under AR206(2) for failing to enact the gear change of blinkers for the filly by the prescribed time. Jumped out and made contact with BUDDAH. SHE'S SO VAIN – Blundered on jumping and shifted out making contact with CRACK OF DOOM (Jockey J Morris). Near the 800m steadied away from the heels of BUDDAH (Jockey S Bogenhuber) which shifted in. Jockey S Bogenhuber was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Following the event Jockey S Bogenhuber (BUDDAH) reported that she suffered an injury to her left arm during the event which placed her in some discomfort. Race 7: PLATINUM ROOFING Maiden Plate 1870 metres ANACHEEVA LAD – Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly. After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1300m. POTAWATOMI – After being ridden aggressively in the early stages had a tendency to over race whilst being restrained for some distance passing the 1600m. Near the 700m momentarily raced in restricted room and was eased. RAGI MAC – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey J Adams was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. DUSTINS – Over raced during the event and passing the 1200m was shifted wider by its rider and as a consequence raced three wide without cover until a point near the 600m. PUCKISH – Slow to begin. Was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
