Caserta in relation to his failure to fulfil his riding engagements in races 1,3 and 4. Replacements as per steward’s summary. Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer M. Boland in relation to the late scratching of WHITSUNDAY LAD out of race seven. Race 1: THANK YOU CLIFFORD PARK VENUE TEAM Maiden Handicap 1640 metres HE'S ALL READY – At the request of its rider, underwent a veterinary examination at the start and was found to be lame in the hind legs. Declared a late scratching at 5:09pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in HE’S ALL READY by refunded with the following deductions to apply: 36 cents in the dollar for the win - #524 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #528 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #628 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #8 Trainer D. Groves was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. FOUND THE MARK – At the request of the trainer’s representative, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Bumped another runner to the outside leaving the 1300m. Shifted out over the concluding stages placing another runner to the outside in restricted room. Jockey M. Palmer was advised to exercise more care. GO MILLO – Reared in the float on route to the course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. CHOOKSTER – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Placed in restricted room for a short distance over the concluding stage and as a result lost ground. Jockey G. Cartwright was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m. NOBLE ARTIST – Held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 400m. WINDUPGIRL – Raced wide without cover throughout. Bumped by another runner to the inside leaving the 1300m. Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. RAGI MAC – Slow to begin. Shifted in over the concluding stages placing another runner to the inside in restricted room. Apprentice E. MacPherson was advised to exercise more care. Race 2: FURNEYS STOCK FEEDS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1110 metres CRAFTY COP – Began awkwardly. Weakened in the home straight finishing a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading was advised the gelding would be barred from racing at Metropolitan and TAB venues until such time as the horse’s form improves. He was further advised that the gelding would require a trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to next racing.PATCHES – Raced three wide without cover throughout. FAIR FELLA – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover throughout. ZAITEKI – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.DRAGON MISS – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1000m and as a result lost ground. Trainer J. Thomas was fined $200 under AR.165(3) for removing DRAGON MISS from the course prior to the 30 minutes required post-race. Race 3: THANK YOU CLIFFORD PARK BAR TEAM BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 metres SNAP ON – Reared at the start and lost ground. Trainer J. Thomas was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. DIVI – Tightened for room and jumping and lost ground.LOVESON – Steadied when disappointed for a run near the 100m. SPARTAN JET – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. CRISTOVAO – Began awkwardly. BOBBIE JO – Began awkwardly. DREAMALINA – Shifted out approaching the 100m placing another runner to the outside in restricted room. Jockey V. Venkaya was advised to exercise more care. Race 4: SOUTHERN STARS AIR CONDITIONING & ELECTRICAL Class 3 Plate 1210 metres PENASQUITO – Bumped by another runner on jumping. BLUEANT – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside. RERUN – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Blundered shortly after the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running from a point approaching the 500m until leaving the 300m. CREATIVE MOSS – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside. HEART ATTACK – Jockey N. Evans was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m. Race 5: THANK YOU CLIFFORD PARK CATERING TEAM BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1640 metres Whilst the field was at the start, all track lighting, including safety lighting, malfunctioned. Consequently, Stewards ordered that all runners be returned to their allocated tie up stalls. As stewards and club officials could not ascertain the cause of the malfunction, and after a delegation of riders expressed concerns regarding the issue, stewards acted in the best interests of safety and welfare and elected to abandon the remainder of the meeting.
