GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: D-BLINDS Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres
 
SHAME JOB – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice M Wishart was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
PADDLEPOP – Slow to begin.
 
SIR PICCOLO – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Passing the 300m was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of SHAME JOB. Apprentice W Peel was reminded of her obligations in regard to use of the whip when out of contention.
 
ZEELUCK – Laid in when placed under pressure in the early stages.
 
LITTLE ALBERT – After being fractious on arrival to the barriers, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to start. Rider S Bogenhuber reported that the gelding failed to respond to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings
 
AWESOME POWER – Shifted out shortly after jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS – Began awkwardly and shortly after was hampered by AWESOME POWER, which shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.  
 
SPIRITUAL ROSE – After being slow to begin, was slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: ST MARY'S OLD BOYS Class 1 Handicap 1000 metre
 
ZOOMFIELD – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with BLOODBLISTER. Shortly after blundered and lost ground. Near the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THE GROUSE (G Goomany), which shifted in when not clear. Rider G Goomany was severely reprimanded (AR131)(a). Raced greenly in the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost its off-fore plate in running.
 
INTIMATE TYCOON – Passing the 850m had to be checked when crowded by SINGLE SKIP, which was taken in by GANESH TALAI (App. M Kennedy). Apprentice M Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice M Kennedy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 27February 2021 and expire midnight 8 March 2021.
 
SPECIAL CASE – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
SHAME JOB - App. M Wishart was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
BLOODBLISTER – Bumped on jumping with ZOOMFIELD. Shortly after raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained. Rider R Payne was reminded of her obligations with regards to the use of the whip whilst out of contention. 
 
JONDY ROCKET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
NUBOIUX – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with BLOODBLISTER. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide and without cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE GROUSE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: TOOWOOMBA CRICKET Class 3 Plate 1650 metres
 
TREASURE OF GOLD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that the horse would incur a 3 month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. (BLED BOTH NOSTRILS 1ST TIME) M Nolan was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).  
 
EAST ESPLANADE – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Trainer B Puckeridge was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.
 
RERUN – Raced wide and without cover throughout. When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to obtain a position with cover passing the 1400m, apprentice K Wilson-Taylor explained that he endeavoured to obtain a position with cover near that point however, STYLISH KIM shifted out and established a position in the one-out line. He further added that shortly after, PATRIOTIC ROSE improved its position to his inside and as a result he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
 
SMILING TOUCH – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post had to be steadied when TREASURE OF GOLD (W Peel), which when under riding, shifted in. Rider W Peel was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Race 4: BOB BUTLER QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1300 metres
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards to inquire into the reasons for Apprentice M Wishart returning to scale underweight. ACCARDO was subsequently disqualified from the event under the provisions of AR. 209(2)(a) when Apprentice M Wishart weighed in in excess of half a kilogram underweight. At a subsequent inquiry, Apprentice M Wishart pleaded guilty of a charge under AR. 209(1) in that she returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram underweight and was fined a sum of $500.
 
BACIO VINCENTE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOOM RANGA – Passing the 900m brushed the running rail.
 
JABALI GOLD – Slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI CONMAN – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground as a result. Trainer L Ross was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.
 
REAL EMPRESS – Near the 1000m, when the pace slackened, had to be steadied off the heels of ZOUESAY.
 
ELYSIAN QUEEN – Held up rounding the home turn. Rider L Tilley advised that the filly raced greenly in the home straight.
 
Race 5: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
WINTER RAIN – Slow to begin.
 
STONELEIGH JACKSON – Raced wide and without cover in the early and middle stages.

RAGI MAC – Stewards permitted App. W Peel to replace App. Wishart as she was unable to claim her full allowance. App. M Wishart was reprimanded under (AR143)(14)(a). Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to bemaking an abnormal breathing noise. Trainer G Osborne was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance with satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
Race 6: D-BLINDS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 11metres
 
BETTER THAN BEST – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DAD'S LAD – Bumped on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEMON DUCHESS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GENERAL MO – Trainer G Lane was fined $100 for failing to produce the thoroughbred identity card for the gelding. Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping DAD’s LAD.  
 
Race 7: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL Maiden Plate 1880 metres
 
DEJAKKAL – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Near the 200m bumped with MAGIC WISHES which laid in under pressure.
 
SENSE OF EXPENSE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a short back up and was passed suitable to start. Commenced to weaken from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination of SENSE OF EXPENSE identified the gelding to be short striding in front. Trainer L Roche was notified that a Veterinary Clearance will be required prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
STEEL CHANCE – Bumped with MAGIC WISHES shortly after jumping.
 
MAGIC WISHES – Bumped shortly after jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Near the 200m bumped with DEJAKKAL. App. M Wishart was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
MATILDA GENE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
