GENERAL
 
As Jockey J Adams was indisposed after riding at the Gold Coast meeting, he was replaced as per the Stewards Summary.
 
Race 1: APPROVEIT HOME LOANS BM70 Handicap 1000 metres
 
VOULAIT- Connections advised it was the intention for the gelding to be ridden off the pace if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
ROYAL PHOENIX- Laid in during the middle stages. Disappointed for a run near the 250m.
 
MICK THE HAT- Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SPENDING MY TIME- Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
 
EASY COME- Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide during the early and middle stages.
 
INVINCIBLE FAITH- Began awkwardly and then failed to muster early speed.
 
SUCCESSOR- Near the 500m tightened for room and lost ground when ROYAL PHOENIX laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
ARROW EXPRESS- Raced 3 wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 2: LYNDON KEANE MEDIA Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MISS BULITZ- Declared a Late Scratching at 9:55am on Veterinary advice.
 
TOP RULER- Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 900m. Forced inwards by another runner leaving the 200m.
 
JELLISHOT- Held up rounding the home turn.
 
OSTERMEIER- Slow to begin. Laid in abruptly in the home straight after being struck with the whip.
 
MOJO BABY- Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIVE MUSIC- Slow to begin. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
BLOODBLISTER- Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 900m.
 
MALAKAI- Tightened for room at the start. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.
 
HARRY'S ME BOY- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: ACHIEVEIT FINANCIAL PLANNING BM62 Handicap 1625 metres
 
 
CAMARILLO- After being caught very wide in the early stages was restrained to a position 3 wide with cover near the 800m. Laid in under pressure from the 400m.
 
BECANDLENI- Bumped the running rail and became unbalanced near the 1200m. Improved onto heels near the 550m and was eased. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Following the event it was reported that the mare had sustained a laceration to the near hind leg. The trainer’s representative for Mr Kelly was advised that the stable would be required to obtain a Veterinary Clearance for the mare prior to it next racing.
 
ELIZANO- Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
NEVER LOSE FAITH- Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BOLD DELAGO- Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
CONGELATOR- App. T Townsend was fined $300 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
 
Race 4: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING Class 2 Plate 1850 metres
 
KINGS ROW- Began awkwardly. Jockey L Tilley was fined $500 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TOUCAN SAM (NZ)- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey G Cartwright was fined $400 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
LEICABLE- Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
WHO SAID SO- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: TRICARE WILLOW GLEN BM60 Handicap 1300 metres
 
SPLIT NOT A SHOCK- Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1000m was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Bumped by another runner near the 400m.
 
KOHIKO- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MISS ALLE BE- Steadied when prevented from shifting wider by another runner near the 400m.
 
SKYE AND ME-Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Held up an unable to improve from the 350m until 200m and again over the final 50m.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS- Disappointed for a run near the 150m and a short distance later the rider momentarily dropped his near side rein.
 
QUEEN LEAR- Had difficulty obtaining clean running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Race 6: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BM60 Handicap 1300 metres
 
 
MANHATTAN SPECTOR (NZ)- Steadied to avoid heels near the 200m.
 
MAHSTAR- Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BOOM RANGA- Laid in from the 500m. Following the disappointing of the gelding, Ms M Sharpe, the trainer’s representative for trainer R Heathcoate, advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
WINTER RAIN- Raced wide from the 700m.
 
RYANO- Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: FOCUS HR Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
 
MY BOY DRAGON- Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn ands as a result was checked from heels near the 300m. Trainer T Banks, was advised that gelding would be required to remain on course until following the running of the last race for a post-race swab sample to be collected from the horse.
 
TIGERPOWER- Laid out under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out.
 
ATOMIC FEATHER- Held up rounding the home turn.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
MASSIE WHISPER- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
REMEMBER BELLA- Bumped on the hindquarter on jumping away and became unbalanced. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
GULLFAXI- Forced wider on the track by another runner in the home straight.
 
MISS MANILOW- Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL- As App. M Kennedy took ill following the previous event, G Cartwright was the replacement rider on the gelding when no other Apprentice rider was available. App. Kennedy was advised she will require a medical clearance prior to next riding.
 
JUST LIKE RULER- Improved onto heels rounding the home turn and lost ground.
 
ROUNDUP- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Shifting in abruptly near the 150m.
 
STORMZONE- Began awkwardly.
 
UNCLE JIM- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 9: SANDER PARTNERS ACCOUNTANTS AND ADVISORS Maiden Handicap 1850 metres
 
DREAM CANDY- Declared at late scratching at 8:00am. Trainer M Boland was fined $200 for failing the scratch by the prescribed time. 
 
 
INCENTIVISE- Disappointed for a run leaving the 600m and lost ground. Approaching the 400m, was bumped on the hindquarters, became unbalanced and was then steadied to avoid heels and as a consequence lost considerable ground. A post race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
CANNY CAT- Attempted to improve into doubtful run near the 600m and as a consequence was held up and unable to improve until near the 400m. Stewards advised Jockey Apthorpe to ensure there is sufficient racing room when attempting narrow runs in future circumstances.
 
SHOTGUN BOBBY- After being caught wide in the early and middle stages, was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 950m.
 
STEEL CHANCE- Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
BLUE CORNER- Began awkwardly losing ground.
 
SENSE OF EXPENSE- Tailed off during the event. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Roache was advised the gelding would now have its nomination refused at TAB venues until it establishes form at country venues.
 
SPIRITUAL- Jockey G Goomany was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TINA SPARKLE- Steadied to avoid heels near the 600m.
