GENERAL
 
As Jockey B Nothdurft and N Callow were no longer attending todays meeting rider changes were made as per the Steward’s summary.
 
Race 1: HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY WOODY 2.0 Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
The start was delayed when COOL ESPRESSO required re saddling at the barriers.
 
I'M HITCHIN' BRO – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
ROSTRUM – Tightened for room for a significant distance shortly after the start and as a result was checked and lost ground.
 
GUESS WHO – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost round. Near the 300m steadied when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
PETA CALADA – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
 
BELLICIOUS – Began awkwardly losing ground. Raced greenly whilst racing wide throughout.
 
GALA RAIN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
MAIL TRAIN MAID – Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MARYLEE – Trainer G Dempsey was issued a $100 fine under AR65 for failing to produce the thoroughbred identification card. Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
 
SNAP THE LUCK – Due to transport difficulties Jockey R Fradd was replaced by
Jockey G Cartwright.
 
COOL ESPRESSO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 2: AMPOL TOOWOOMBA Fillies and Mares Class 3 Plate 1300 metres
 
The start was delayed when RUBY RUSH was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer G Barbierato was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
ELEGANT GRACE – Jockey A Mallyon could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the mare which he advised raced flat today. Jockey A Mallyon further advised that he suggested to connections that the mare may benefit from being freshened up before next starting. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
WINTER RAIN – After being caught wide in the early stages raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained to a position with cover near the 1100m.
 
SUZY NEEDS LOVIN' – Hung out for the majority of the event before being eased down in the home straight. Trainers representative N Hemmings was advised the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing.
 
Race 3: BLACK & WHITE CABS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Plate 1300 metre
 
SAFADO – Declared a late scratching @ 11:30am by order of Stewards after it was discovered that POTENT VIEW (which was not engaged at today’s meeting) had been inadvertently  transported to the track rather than SAFADO. Subsequently Trainer K Lees pleaded guilty to a charge under AR227(a) in that his negligence led to a breach of AR99(b) in that he failed to appropriately ensure the correct horse was presented to race at today’s meeting. Mr Lees was issued a $500 fine.
 
HARRYANDTHETIGER – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Apprentice S Tomlinsion was unable to offer a tangible explanation in relation to the below market expectation of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer L Ross undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to today’s meeting if any abnormality becomes present that may have affected the gelding’s performance in today’s event.
 
Race 4: KAREN GOUGH - DONATE TO DO IT FOR CANCER Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
BONJOUR MATE – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
I AM SUPERIOR – Jockey L Cassidy was issued a reprimand under AR132(5) for using his whip in an excessive manner that being 15 occasions.
 
CHERNO ALPHA – Disappointed for a run approaching the 100m.
 
Race 5: VIEW HOTEL BRISBANE BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1850 metres
 
LOUIE LA'JOY – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
THE MINIVAN – Slow to begin. On retuning to scale Jockey M McGillivray reported that in his opinion the gelding raced flat in today’s event and may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
CALL ME LEGEND – Slow to begin. Apprentice S Tomlinson was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL –Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. On retuning to scale jockey J Murphy advised that in his opinion the mare failed to run out the 1850m of today’s event.
 
MT MORT SHARK (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MAGIC WISHES – Jumped with its head in the air.
 
Race 6: CARPET ONE QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
SPIRIT ONE – Change of tactics; to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Subsequently settled in a rearward position.
 
EELLOH – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages.
 
HE'S THE NEWS – Began awkwardly.
 
MAYA BAY – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages.
 
DAD'S LAD – Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHERRY SODA – Jockey M McGillivray reported the filly failed to stretch out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
Race 7: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
HARD STRIDE – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
 
KING KLAUS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
PIRACY – Began awkwardly losing ground. Jockey G Cartwright could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the gelding which she reported never travelled strongly at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to show signs of soreness across the hind quarters. Co Trainer M Sears undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to today’s meeting if any abnormality becomes present that may have affected the gelding’s performance in today’s event. Ms Sears also indicated the stable would have a blood sample taken from the gelding for analysis, the results of which they would forward to Stewards.
 
PAPA JO – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
SPIRIT'S CHOICE – Bumped on jumping.
 
ICONIC STAR – Began awkwardly bumping another runner.
 
TESARC – Jumped in the air at the start. Near the 900m momentarily raced in restricted room.
 
SPINNING SPIRIT – Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 600m.
 
Race 8: SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
HEZHOME – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LIBERTY HEAD – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
MOLLY'S ROCKING – Bumped heavily on jumping resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
REALLY DISCREET – On retuning to scale Jockey J Byrne reported that the mare was reluctant to stretch out when placed under pressure in the home straight which he attributed to the firm racing surface.
 
JAKAMA – Bumped heavily on jumping.
