Race 1:HAPPY 21ST HAYLEY ZELLER BENCHMARK 68 Handicap1300 metres TRAIL OF GLORY – Slow to begin. MARMARIS – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 900m and as a result raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder. MISHANI BLOSSOM – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. DEVILLAIN – Apprentice A Thompson could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. AND OVER AGAIN – Slow to begin. BOOM ROCKER – Disappointed for a run rounding the home turn. Race 2: NGU REAL ESTATE TOOWOOMBA Class 2 Handicap1000 metres MINTED – Held up rounding the home turn. WAIT A MINUTE – Had a tendency to lay in for the majority of the event. Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m. FRIVOLOSOPHY (NZ) – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. MR BROSE – Raced 3 wide with cover. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was issued a reprimand under AR132(5) for using his whip excessively during the event, that being on 15 occasions. GHABBIE – Laid out in the early stages. NUBOIUX – Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 3: 3 STROUD HOMES TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 58 Handicap1650 metres MANHATTAN SPECTOR (NZ) – Slow to begin. After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to the leading position near the 1100m. GOT THE LOT – Bumped on jumping. PERFECT PAGE – Jockey J Murphy was issued a $600 fine under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. MISS MARGS – Slow to begin. Race 4: A & R REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING Class 3Handicap 1880 metres ELIZANO – Over raced in the early and middle stages. VANBARI – Over raced in the early and middle stages. EGO DANCER – Jockey L Tarrant was issued a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. SWING SHIFT – Severely hampered at the start and lost ground. Steadied to avoid heels passing the winning post on the 1st occasion. Raced wide without cover from the 900m. A Post race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened in the home straight revealed no significant abnormalities. Race 5: FOCUS ON KITCHENS Maiden Plate 1880 metres BELUSHI – Slow to begin. Shifted out to improve passing the 900m and was then forced wider on the track by another runner approaching the 700m and as a consequence raced 4 wide for the remainder. Apprentice K Wilson- Taylor could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which compounded in the home straight revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards will contact trainer C Anderson in the days following tonight’s meeting in relation to the geldings post-race recovery. MADAME GRACE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the near hind leg. BLUE CORNER – Slow to begin. A'YUN – Change of tactics; to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly in the early stages. SAMHAIN – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Checked to avoid heels near the 200m. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey R Goldsbury the rider of BLUE CORNER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 200m she directed her mount outwards when insufficiently clear of SAMHAIN which was checked to avoid the heels of BLUE CORNER. Jockey R Goldsbury’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 15/05/2021 and to conclude midnight 26/05/2021. Race 6: AXIOM INSURANCE BROKERS Maiden Handicap 1300 metres LAURIE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Held up approaching the home turn. DIRECT DRIVE – After being caught wide in the early stages was ridden forward aggressively to obtain the leading position approaching the 900m. ELITE ELIZABETH – Slow into stride. PATH AHEAD – Raced greenly throughout. Race 7: 7 MILES FOR MARCIA Maiden Handicap 1300 metres FOREVER BEN – Raced keenly in the early stages. BOLD ANGEL – Slow to begin. MOTION SENSOR – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 700m. RUNARD REDNUT – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. ORANGE POP (NZ) – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m improved onto heels and was checked when the pace of the race steadied. Compounded in the home straight. Trainer V Heading was advised the mare would not be permitted to race at TAB meetings until such time as it establishes form at Non-TAB venues.
