Race 1: PITTSWORTH HOTEL MOTEL BM65 HCP – 1300M
MY COUSIN BOSSY - Bumped on jumping.
ABSOLUTE GLORY – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Bogenhuber reported that her mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages and was confident that the mare was going to run on, however she added that she felt her mounts run came to an end at the 200m and only ran on fairly from that point. She added that the mare may not have handled the drop back in distance.
SEMAPHORE GIRL – Slow to begin.
PRINCESS KAYO (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn. Upon review of the patrol footage, it was ascertained that rider J Bayliss breached rule AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted under the rule. In determining to issue no penalty, Stewards were mindful of rider J Bayliss’ explanation in regard to the visibility and prevailing track conditions.
HOLD ALL TICKETS – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
SHEINDLIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
Race 2: GETOUTSTAKES.COM.AU C3 HCP – 1000M
READY BABE – Began awkwardly. Tactics queried. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and in particular if there was an opportunity near the 400m to improve to the outside of the heels of EASY COME to obtain an uninterrupted run to the finish, rider G Cartwright stated that she considered coming to the outside of EASY COME near the 400m, but at that point, EASY COME commenced to race ungenerously. She further added she was mindful of being taken too wide and therefore elected to attempt a run to the inside of EASY COME. She added that whilst she was momentarily held up rounding the home turn, she was satisfied with READY BABE’s finishing effort. Stewards noted the explanation.
EASY COME – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in throughout.
NORSE MYTHOLOGY – Began awkwardly.
BID IN A HURRY (NZ) – Stewards permitted Adam Spinks to ride the filly half a kilogram over its declared weight of 54kgs.
BEACH CLUB – Shortly after the start had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels JONDY ROCKET.
SHE'S CROWNED – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
Following the running of this race a delegation of senior riders expressed concerns regarding visibility during the running of the race due to kickback, misty rain and the glare from the floodlights. Stewards, after discussions with several senior riders, subsequently postponed the remainder of the meeting at 5:51pm.
Apprentice M Savva (NORSE MYTHOLOGY) was reminded of her obligations to follow the official starters directions at all times.
