QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT (5) RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – 5.12 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B. Teo GENERAL Stewards concluded an inquiry into an incident that occurred at Toowoomba on Saturday 25th September 2021. As a result of this inquiry, licensed stable hand Alana Aspinall pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under AR228(b). The specifics of the charge being that whilst in a function at Clifford Park Racecourse on Saturday 25th September 2021, Ms Aspinall directed offensive and obscene language towards a member of the public. Ms Aspinall was subsequently fined $200. Race 1: MJH FINANCE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200 metres FOR MY ANNIE – Began awkwardly. DREAMTIMER – Disappointed for a run rounding the home turn and again at a point approaching the 200m. LINTHORPE LAD – Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground. JAYDEE INDY – After being crossed by FOR MY ANNIE at a point leaving the 1000m had to be steadied for a short distance. Apprentice A. Jones (FOR MY ANNIE) was advised to exercise more care. EXCEED ROCK – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside. MADDIARA – At a point leaving the 900m, was placed in restricted room and was forced to restrain when FOR MY ANNIE shifted in marginally. Apprentice A. Jones (FOR MY ANNIE) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a). Race 2: SOMERFIELD CONSTRUCTIONS Maiden Plate 1200 metres The start was delayed when HOME OWNER dislodged its rider while preceding to the barriers and as a result had to be captured by the clerk of the course. HOME OWNER was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 5:37pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in HOME OWNER be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 0 cents in the dollar for the win - #73 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #71 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #14 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #5 Trainer S. Barker was advised the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to race. BOOM BY BY – Tightened for room on jumping. NICE ONE WILSON – Tightened for room on jumping. PATH AHEAD – Blundered on jumping. SIR LOUIE – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BLACK MONACO – Inclined to lay in throughout. REALLY REALLY GOOD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out from the 500m until a point approaching the 300m. SASSENAY – As the mare had not raced in over twelve months it underwent and pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Placed in restricted room leaving the 700m when ONE IN ALL shifted in marginally. Jockey S. Lacy (ONE IN ALL) was advised to exercise more care. HYPERION ANGEL – Raced greenly throughout. Jockey C. Meehan was fined $200 under AR211(1) for returning to scale overweight. Race 3: SEDL AGENCIES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres The start was delayed to allow REGAL WISK to be resaddled. BECCAUSE THE NIGHT – Began awkwardly. Hung out from the 900m, tailing off and taking no further competitive part in the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer P. Nolan was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing. PICCANNINI – Bumped with another runner on jumping. DELANEY’S GIRL – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels and was forced to restrain leaving the 550m. Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the 200m. DIAMOND LASS – Began awkwardly bumping another runner. KISS THE LASS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from heels at the 900m when BECAUSE THE NIGHT hung out despite the best efforts of its rider. Improved onto heels at the 800m. Shifted out to obtain clear running leaving the 250m forcing PICCANNINI wider. Race 4: LAND TRANSPORT Class 3 Handicap 1850 metres ULTIMATE POWER – Began awkwardly. Apprentice A. Jones was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip prior to the 100m. ZAMOSA (NZ) – Jockey G. Geran was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. HARRY’S STYLE – Shifted out at the 1300m and raced wide without cover for the remainder. STAR CENTRE – Trainer K. Kemp advised it was intentions to have the gelding placed further forward if possible. Settled mid field. Raced keenly leaving the 1400m. IN YOUR ELEMENT – When questioned regarding the above market expectation performance, Trainer C. Geran advised that the mare failed to handle the heavy track last start and in his opinion was more suited to todays track conditions. He further added that he expected the mare to perform well in todays event. Stewards noted Mr Geran’s explanation. MORNING FARE – Slow into stride. Raced in restricted room and lost ground leaving the 1500m. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Race 5: VISION EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres DAD’S LAD – Steadied from heels at the 700m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. KOBANG – Bumped on jumping. MOUNT PADRAO – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages. LEARNING CURVE – Tightened for room at the start. SPIRIT OF LUCK – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. LADY LANCASTER – Began awkwardly. Race 6: BPI TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1625 metres PERFECT PAGE – Bumped heavily on jumping and lost ground. Forced wider at the 1400m and as a result raced three wide without cover for the remainder. HAIL TO THE CHIEF – Began awkwardly making heavy contact with PERFECT PAGE. DROP THE PILOT – Raced with its head in the whist being restrained near the 1300m. Shift out leaving the 1400m forcing another runner wider. Jockey N. Day was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. SWING SHIFT – Slow to begin. Race 7: HIGHFIELDS BUILDER Maiden Handicap 1625 metres ST MORITZ – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Apprentice A. Jones could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance with satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing or trialling again. CUTABRI – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside. When questioned regarding the above market expectation performance, trainer K. Jones advised that gelding was disappointed in running at its last start at Ipswich. He further added that the horse has further improved in its work and that he was not surprised by tonight’s performance. EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels and was checked approaching the 250m.
