QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA TUESDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2021 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER- 4:91 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T. Preston Stewards – J. Childs, D. MacDonald Clerk of Scales – D. Rossiter Judge – S. Faehy, B. Poelstra Veterinarian – Dr G. Laws Starter – B. Mallory Race 1: FINDEX CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300M FINGERTIPS- At the 250m, shifted to the outside to obtain clear running. BOLAND WARRIOR- Slow to begin. LA RAPIDE-Slow to begin. WHISTLING ARROW- Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 2: ENTERPRISE LEGAL RARINGS BAND 0-52 HANDICAP 1100M NEWS DIRECTOR- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out at the 900m point placing another runner in restricted room for a short distance. CHICA ROSE- Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide during the early to middle stages. KOTA FLYER- After being caught wide in the early stages, was restrained by its rider to obtain a position with cover at the 800m. BLOODBLISTER- Shifted out at the 900m placing another runner in restricted room for a short distance. BEATING DRUM- Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and as a result steadied from the heels of GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS. At the 900m, raced in restricted room for a short distance when BLOODBLISTER shifted out and NEWS DIRECTOR shifted in. GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS- Upon returning to scale, Jockey C. Eaton advised that the mare felt awkward in its action over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had bled from one nostril. Trainer D. Knight was advised the mare would be required to preform a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing. Mr Knight advised stewards that it was intention to now retire the horse. PETITE ELLE- Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, raced with its head in the air while being restrained. Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room for a short distance. On returning to scale Jockey R. Jamieson advised that the horse felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities. Race 3: FINDEX ACCOUNTING AND TAX MAIDEN PLATE 1000M KINGSFORD TIGER- Bumped heavily shortly after the start. MAX’S SOURCE- Shifted in shortly leaving the 950m placing another runner in restricted room. WHISTLING RULER- Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Was placed in restricted room and forced to restrain leaving the 950m when MAX’S SOURCE shifted in. Jockey R. Jamieson (MAX’S SOURCE) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a). ONE’S ENUFF- Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start. At the 900m placed in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of MAX’S SOURCE which shifted in marginally. Jockey R. Jamieson (MAX’S SOURCE) was advised to exercise more care. Hung out from the 600m point. Trainer J. Capewell was advised by Stewards that a warning would be placed on the horse. QUEENS GUARD- Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 1.45pm acting on vets advice. Trainer D. Tunnah was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again. RED DRESS- Began awkwardly. Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. ACAPERA- Began awkwardly. Race 4: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA MAIDEN PLATE 2150M EVERYNOW’N’THEN- As this horse raced at the Toowoomba meeting on Saturday the 30th of October 2021, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. No racing incidents. Race 5: PACIFIC SEEDS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1625M The start of the event was delayed when SHAME JOB was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. OUR SPIDER- Stewards advised Apprentice Jockey MacPherson, the rider of the winner, that an opportunity existed when leaving the 1500m to ease her mount so that she would be able to take up a position one off the fence behind BUSH SHINDIG instead of racing three wide throughout. After viewing the film Apprentice MacPherson agreed with Stewards that would have been a better option. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees Reprimands Race 3- R.
