Apprentices A Jones and T Wheeler were both reminded of their obligations regarding straightening their mounts sooner than they had on this occasion. FOXY ROSE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Slow to begin. CHERNO ALPHA – Bounded on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages and passing the 1500m when attempting to obtain cover, commenced to hang out placing its rider at a disadvantage. Continued to race wide and overrace until obtaining cover near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 2: LJ HOOKER BM62 HCP – 1110M MOSCINI – Approaching the 800m commenced to race keenly and had to be steadied off heels. THE TYLER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in the past twelve months and was cleared to start. Approaching the 800m commenced to race keenly and had to be steadied off heels. Near the 100m had to be eased off the heels of MOSCINI who laid out. SOUTH STREET BOSS – Bumped with OVIDIUS. OVIDIUS – Bumped on jumping with SOUTH STREET BOSS. FIVE SPINS – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice J Cornish stated that her mount travelled well throughout however failed to respond when placed under pressure. Trainer J Crompton stated that she may experiment with gear and would undertake to report back if anything comes amiss with the mare in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DEUBANK – Trainer B Robinson was advised that a warning would be placed on the competitiveness of the gelding. Race 3: IOR MDN PLT – 1050M BULL DIMPLE RUM – Raced greenly approaching the 600m shifting in and bumping the running rail. LONE HAND – Jumped awkwardly. Steadied to obtain cover near the 800m. Laid in throughout the majority of the event. ME BEGLEY – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice T Wheeler was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. HALLSIDE WILDTHING – Shifted in on jumping bumping with EASY JOY. JONDY GRACIE – Slow to begin. EASY JOY – Bumped on jumping. Race 4: NEWLANDS GROUP MDN PLT – 1050M BUCK NORRIS – Slow to begin. Leaving the 800m commenced to overrace and shifted in. Shortly after rounding the home turn was bumped several times by SWIFT MISS FOX who was attempting to improve into a narrow run. Apprentice T Wheeler was reminded of ensuring there is enough room when attempting to improve into narrow runs. CAPTURED IN TIME – Severely checked on jumping when tightened for room. INSTANT KARMA – Severely checked on jumping when MAX’S SOURCE shifted in abruptly. Hung in through the early stages. MAX’S SOURCE – Shifted in abruptly on jumping despite the efforts of its rider. Raced wide throughout.TISANI EMPEROR – Shifted in abruptly on jumping and blundered shortly after. TURBOART – Bounded on jumping and severely checked shortly after when tightened for room. SINGLE CHARGE – Overraced in the middle stages. SWIFT MISS FOX – Jumped awkwardly and was checked shortly after when severely tightened for room. Shortly after rounding the home turn bumped heavily with BUCK NORRIS several times when attempting to improve into a narrow run and as a result was forced to race in restricted room until near the 150m. Laid out over the concluding stages. Race 5: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES / PENGELLY TRUCK & TRAILER BM62 HCP – 2030M THE MINIVAN – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off heels. GRATSIE – Jumped awkwardly. WINSTON BLUE – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.56pm. Trainer N Hocking was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start. BRACKEN – When attempting to find cover near the 1600m commenced to hang in despite the efforts of its rider. SPACE IS DEEP (NZ) – Near the 1600m had to be steadied for several strides when the pace slackened. IN YOUR ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Near the 1600m had to be steadied when BRACKEN hung in despite the efforts of its rider and as a result commenced to overrace for some distance thereafter. SWING SHFT – Near the 1600m had to be steadied for several strides when the pace slackened. Race 6: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL ICT BM68 HCP – 1300M OCTAVIAN – Momentarily held up approaching the 400m. MADDIARA – Raced wide throughout. SEMAPHORE GIRL – Approaching the 800m was taken wider had to be steadied momentarily when OCTAVIAN shifted out off the heels of LINCOLN GREEN (NZ) to attempt to improve into clear running and as a result SEMAPHORE GIRL raced wide from this point on. Rider J Oliver was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. NO INUENDO – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey K Yoshida stated that he wasn’t disappointed with the performance as the gelding was first up since May and would require more distance than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ABB ROY – A swab sample was taken from the mare who firmed noticeably in the market. Race 7: WESTERN TRUCK GROUP QTIS 3YO BM60 HCP – 1210M ZUMA CALIFORNIA – Laid in under pressure in the straight. BEAN DANCING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CRAIGLEA ICON – Bumped on jumping. NO CHOICES – Bumped on jumping. Trainers representative N Hemmings was advised that the nominations of NO CHOICES would be refused at TAB venues until the filly shows consistent form at the NON-TAB venues. Race 8: NEIL MANSELL GROUP MDN PLT – 1300M ANOTHER TOSSER – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. PACKAGE – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer J Halpin stated that PACKAGE didn’t appreciate the late addition of gear at its start at Springsure which led to the significant beaten margin. He added that at its previous start at Mitchell, the gelding was slowly away and didn’t appreciate the kickback. Mr Halpin further stated that although he was expecting an improved performance as the gelding was back onto a grass track tonight and had engaged an apprentice to lower the weight, he was still surprised with the result. Stewards noted the comment. ZABCAN – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination after rider S Lacy reported to Stewards that ZABCAN was making a abnormal sound upon pulling up. The post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers’ representative reported to Stewards that the stable may experiment with gear at its next start. BY MY SIDE – Blundered badly shortly after the start. Trainer B Ahrens reported to Stewards that he would have the mare looked over by his veterinarian and report the findings back to Stewards. MISS BEAT – Contacted the enclosure gates en route to the gates and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Reared on jumping and shifted out abruptly taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer M Kropp was advised that MISS BEAT would require to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. BRIGHT FLAMES – Near the 200m had to be eased off heels to improve into clear running. Race 9: PRYDE'S EASIFEED MDN PLT - 1300M LEADBURN LION – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m had to be eased off the heels of GRACIOUS KNIGHT who shifted in. Apprentice M Savva was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. PLAN CEE – Shifted out on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice N Fazackerley stated that his mount felt awkward in its action when rounding the home turn and as a result, he elected not to place his mount under anymore pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore. Trainer S Kirkwood was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to PLAN CEE racing or trialling again. BLAVATSKY – Bumped over the concluding stages by IMADGIC. JENESSA – Leaving the 400m bumped with THE FAIRYTALE when attempting to improve into clear running and as a result was held up momentarily. IMADGIC – Raced greenly over the concluding stages bumping with BLAVATSKY. Apprentice A Jones, in the presence of Apprentice advocate Mr B Saunders, plead guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that she failed to ride her mount out to the finish which in the opinion of the Stewards, cost her mount second place and her license to ride in races was suspended for 13 days to commence on midnight 29th November and to expire midnight 12th December. SPECIALDEE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after dislodging C Eaton en route to the barriers and passed fit to start. Jockey C Eaton was examined by QAS officers and cleared to fulfill her engagement. Hampered on jumping and raced wide throughout.
