QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 7th MAY 2022 WEATHER – Overcast/Rain TRACK RATING – Race 1 Soft 5; Races 2 & 3 Soft 6 RAIL – Out 1m the entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – D KerwickClerk of Scales – D RossiterJudge – S Fahey & S WhiteVeterinarian – Dr E MaxwellSwab Attendants – D MacDonaldStarters – T Woodham GENERAL Following the running of Race 3 the meeting was abandoned due to the state of the track. Race 1: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000m UNCLUE FRANK- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped on jumping. Laid in soon after the start, despite the efforts of its rider, hampering OUR SPIDER. SOVERIGN LEGEND- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. KEEPMOVING FORWARD- Bumped on jumping. AMERICAN RED- Bumped on jumping. TURBOART- Bumped on jumping. OUR SPIDER- Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start having to be eased. SPIN THAT WHEEL- bumped on jumping. LEARNING CURVE- Inclined to race keenly in the early stages. WHISTLE HOFF- Raced wide for the majority. Race 2: KENNARDS HIRE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m Prior to the running of Race 2 the racing surface was downgraded to a Soft 6 following consistent rainfall. HIGH I CUE- Due to a clerical and administrative error the gear the gelding was to race in may have been displayed incorrectly, the gelding was however to race in winkers. This was advertised by way of on course announcement and social media address. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. MATILDA GENE- Stewards accepted the reasons for the late declaration of rider on the mare by Co-Trainer N Hahn. Nonetheless Mr Hahn was reminded of his obligations in relation to rider declarations. Bumped on jumping and again soon after. Raced wide for the majority. SCRIPT WRITER- Buffeted on jumping and bumped again soon after. Shifted in passing the 900m momentarily hampering POINT THE WAGON. App Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise greater care and ensure he is fully clear before shifting ground in future. ZOUZOUZALO- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. MARCADA- Began awkwardly. Inclined to race ungenerously passing the 800m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. BY BY MUSIC- Raced keenly approaching the 900m. Commenced to tire from the 200m. App M Savva advised that, in her opinion, her mount did not handle the prevailing racing conditions and as a result was found wanting over the concluding stages adding that she believed the gelding to have resented the kickback once crossed in the home straight as well. POINT THE WAGON- Obliged to ease passing the 900m when a runner to the outside shifted in, became unbalanced once eased and lost ground. KNOWITALL JACK- Inclined to lay in between the 600-400m. Race 3: HAPPY 50th DAMIAN QTIS 3yo CLASS 3 HANDDICAP 1100m NORD LYON- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure down the running and bumped another runner passing the 250m. FORCEFUL MATILDA- Stewards acceded to a request for App J Williams to claim only 2kg of his 3kg allowance. This was advertised by way of on course announcement and social media address. Trainer M Currie was reprimanded under the provisions of AR227(a) for failing to comply with the rider overweight directive. Inclined to race keenly in the early stages. STOP THE ROT- Stood flat footed and began awkwardly. Trainer J Hanna was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. Raced ungenerously approaching the 800m then continued to over-race for some distance whilst in a wide position. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. AS GOOD AS READY- Began awkwardly. SINGLE DIZIRE- Shifted in passing the 1000m momentarily hampering YANGSEA. App A Jones was advised to exercise greater care and ensure she if fully clear when shifting ground. Obliged to ease and bumped the inside running rail leaving the 900m when a runner to the outside shifted in. Performed below market expectations. App Jones advised that, in her opinion, her mount resented the prevailing racing conditions and did not appreciate the kick back in running and was found wanting in the home straight. YANGSEA- Obliged to ease momentarily when crossed by another runner passing the 1000m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. ROWDASH- Shifted in leaving the 900m momentarily hampering SINGLE DIZIRE. App I Rabjones was advised to exercise greater care and ensure she is fully clear when shifting ground. Inclined to lay in for the majority. Bumped by another runner passing the 250m. BEAN DANCING- Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. SHERWOOD PRINCE- Raced wide for the majority. Following the running of Race 3 Stewards, along with a delegation of riders and Toowoomba Turf Club officials inspected a section of the racing surface immediately after the course proper crossing. On inspection, significant surface water was identified on a section of the racing surface immediately after the crossing from the inside running rail to approximately three (3) horses off. Given the unsuitability of that section of the track for racing and the distances of the remaining events the remainder of the meeting was abandoned.
