QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB SATURDAY 18 JUNE 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – G Gould, A Johnston, D LaneClerk of Scales – A CucksonJudge – B Polestra, P HopplerVeterinarian – Dr G CavanaghSwab Attendants – K KilpatrickStarter – B Mallory GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights: Race 2- Jockey l Tilley +0.5kgRace 6- Jockey N Fazackerley +1kg Jockey S Apthorpe +0.5kg Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainers J Gleeson and A Briskey for the late declaration of riders on their respective runners. Race 1: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL TOOWOOMBA Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres SASANQUAS- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after casting a near-fore plate on exiting the mounting yard and was found to be lame and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:42pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deduction applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:42pm: 0cents on the dollar for the win1cents in the dollar for the place on the winner2cents in the dollar for 2nd place1cents in the dollar for 3rd place Trainer J Harris was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. FREEFICA- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B Baker advised connections would now consider the mares immediate racing future. SKILORD- Shifted in bumping with anther runner on jumping. ADALISSA- Buffeted on jumping before being crowded and before blundering and losing ground after becoming awkward on heels. DREAM DECISION- Obliged to restrain and shift in contacting the inside running rail passing the 600m after being inconvenienced by another runner. VINTAGE- Shifted in passing the 800m when not fully clear of FREEDOM AVENUE causing that runner to be steadied and shift in. App I Rabjones was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when sifting ground. Obliged to restrain and shift out away from heels when a runner to the inside shifted out when insufficiently clear passing the 150m. Raced wide for the majority. MORATA- Raced wide for the majority. Shifted out under riding passing the 150m when insufficiently clear of VINTAGE causing that runner to be restrained and shift out bumping with FREEDOM AVENUE which became awkwardly placed on heels and checked as a result. Jockey S Bogenhuber pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) with her license to ride in races being subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 19th June 2022 up to and including 28th June 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Bogenhubers guilty plea and excellent record in relation to the rule to be mitigating factors. FREEDOM AVENUE – Obliged to stead off heels and shift in passing the 800m. Shifted in under riding approaching the 600m resulting in DREAM DECISION having to be checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice A Patis pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge under the provisions of AR131(a). Apprentice Patis’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence 27th June 2022 up to and including 5th July 2022. Apprentice Patis was advised of her right to an internal review. Bumped by another runner which shifted out whilst being restrained off heels and became awkwardly placed on heels having to be checked as a result. ALL JEED UP- As Jockey S McCullum was indisposed Stewards permitted Jockey K Zechner to be substituted as rider of thegelding.Raced wide for the majority. HISGRACE- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Declaration of correct weight was delayed when App A Patis, rider of 4th place getter FREEDOM AVENUE, lodged an objection against 3rd place getter VINTAGE (App Rabjones) alighting alleged interference near the 150m. After taking evidence from the rider involved and connections of the two runners Stewards determined that passing the 150m VINTAGE had been obliged to restrain and shift out and away from the heels of MORATA, which had shifted out under riding, and made contact with FREEDOM AVENUE causing that runner to become awkwardly placed on heels and being obliged to check. As the interference could not be attributed to any conscious or careless action by App Rabjones or any action by VINTAGE but rather was caused by the outward shift of MORATA (5th place getter), Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers. Race 2: RANVET - TRUSTED PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres PURE PURGATORY- Slow to begin. BY BY MUSIC- After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was ridden along in the early stages in an effort to obtain a forward position closer to the inside running, eventually settling in a one-off position outside the leader leaving the 600m. MENSA MAESTRO- Performed below market expectations. Trainer K Kemp advised that, in his opinion the gelding is at its best when racing at other tracks and may not appreciate the undulating surface of tonight’s circuit. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K Kemp undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition in the coming days. TYCOON DANCER- Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: MOORE LEWIS & PARTNERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1625 metres BEARHUG – Proved difficult to load. Trainer K Kemp was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. BRACKEN- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained and injury to the near-fore suspensory. Trainer T Lambourn was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. MARCADA- Slow to begin. Over-race in the early stages and continued to do so down the back straight when the pace slackened. CONISMO – Began awkwardly. Inclined to over-race down the back straight as the pace slackened. LEXINGTON LAD- Dwelt in the barrier and began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 1300m and commenced a gradual forward move obtaining the lead and a position along the inside running rail near the 600m. VENOMOUS- Commenced to over-race on entering the back straight when the pace slackened before shifting out and bumping with THE KNIGHT and raced wide from that point on. THE KNIGHT- Bumped by VENOMOUS passing the 1250m. Shifted in to obtain clear running passing the 150m. SHINAR- Raced wide for the majority. IDLING BY- Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: JOE WAGNER GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 870 metres MR BROSE – Raced wide for the majority. Inclined to lay in down running. Shifted in approaching the winning post having to be corrected. GLOBAL VENTURE- Laid in passing the 500m becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels before being corrected by its rider. SADDLE BOY – Momentarily steadied passing the 400m after TURBOART shifted out abruptly. Shifted in under riding near the 150m placing IMPLACABLE in restricted room for a short distance. Apprentice D McGillivray was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).TURBOART – Shifted out abruptly passing the 400m resulting in SADDLE BOY having to be momentarily steadied. Apprentice J Molloy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) IMPLACABLE- Placed in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 200m. RAKU’S SECRET – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 870 metres EVE’S MISS – Was declared a late scratching at the barriers at 7:08pm after refusing to load. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on EVE’S MISS be refunded in full and that all successful wagers prior to the time of scratching be subject to the following deductions: 1 cent in the dollar for the win2 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner5 cents in the dollar 2nd place2 cents in the dollar 3rd place Trainer J Morrow was advised the filly would require two consecutive barrier certificates prior to again being permitted to start in a race. FOR MY ANNIE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. MAN IN MOTION – Bumped on jumping. ILLICATE AFFAIRS – Shifted in near the 700m resulting in ASK AUDREY having to be restrained. Apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a). ASK AUDREY – Restrained near the 700m when a runner to the outside shifted in. REMEMBER MARY- Eased off heels passing the 700m. THE TENOR – Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Race 6: 1EQUINE - FOR THE EQUINE ATHLETE Maiden Handicap 1300 metres The start of this event was delayed when the course proper lighting from the 1000-300m failed whilst the field was behind the barriers. The field was then returned to the race-day tie-ups whilst the on-course electrician attended to the outage. Once rectified the riding cohort and Stewards convened and the decision was made to continue with the meeting. Due to this delay the start times for the remaining events were amended as follows: Race 6- 8:20pmRace 7- 8:50pmRace 8- 9:32pm ST MORTIZ- Bumped on jumping. Inclined to race keenly down the back straight. ADAM’S APPLE- Bumped on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Obliged to ease off heels near the 700m. UNCLE BUD- Bumped on jumping. Obliged to steady and shift out away from heels approaching the 700m. PEARLS ‘N’ PIMMS- Bumped on jumping before being momentarily crowded soon after. Obliged to ease off heels approaching the 700m. Performed disappointingly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer N Hahn advised that after returning to the mounting yard after the lighting failure the filly had become agitated in the race day tie-ups which may have contributed to her disappointing performance. SHEZANUISANCE- Bumped on jumping. Severely hampered approaching the 700m having to shift out and away from the heels of another runner. SHIKAKKA- Bumped on jumping. CRY NO MORE- Bumped approaching the 1200m. Severely hampered approaching the 700m having to shift out and away from the heels of another runner. UCHIDA- Bumped approaching the 1200m. Steadied and shifted out away from heels approaching the 700m. I’M RUSHIN- Raced keenly on heels from the 800-700m. KWAMI – Shifted in leaving the 800m when insufficiently clear of SKOOZI’S FLYER causing that runner to be checked and loose its rightful running. Jockey K Zechner was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) with his license to ride in races subsequently being suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 27th June 2022 up to and including 6th July. Jockey Zechner was advised of his right to an internal review. Finished tailed off. Post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C White was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings competitiveness. SKOOZI’S FLYER- Checked and shifted out to avoid heels leaving the 800m when a runner to the outside shifted in when insufficiently clear. Raced wide for the majority. Race 7: HAPPY 31ST BIRTHDAY ROHAN MCVEIGH QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres POSSOVER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly nearing the 700m. Difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. NAUGHTY WORDS- Bumped on jumping. ROMAN DAGGER- Bumped passing the 700m. Disappointed for a run passing the 50m before shifting out to obtain clear running. KIHI- Raced keenly approaching the 800m. Laid out passing the 700m bumping with POSSOVER. Race 8: KENNARDS HIRE Maiden Plate 1100 metres ANTHROPICA- Began very awkwardly and lost ground. HARMONYS SECRET- bumped soon after the start. DABILDOYA- Bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly approaching the 800m. Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post. BOOM BY BY Raced keenly passing the 700m. JAQEN H’GHAR- Shifted in passing the 800m when not fully clear of TOMBOY’S SPIRIT causing that runner to be restrained. Jockey K Zechner was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. TOMBOYS SPIRIT- Obliged to restrain and commenced to over-race once crossed by another runner which was not fully clear passing the 800m.
