ROMAN DAGGER- Bumped passing the 700m. Bumped on entering the home straight. Stewards queried Jockey S Lacy’s riding of the gelding upon entering the home straight specifically when Jockey Lacy directed her mount to the outside of MISS BONTASTIC, in doing so bumping with BIRDIE BELLE when obtaining clear running, when a run appeared to be present to the inside of that runner.  Jockey Lacy advised that, with the benefit of hindsight, she may have been better off staying to the inside of MISS BONTASTIC, however at the time given that runners predisposition to lay in rounding the home turn she elected to pre-empt a repeat of that behaviour and directed her mount to the outside of MISS BONTASTIC however, as that runner did not lay in on straightening she did have some difficulty obtaining clear running. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 2: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING QTIS 3yo BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m

YAMUMZA- Became somewhat fractious in the mounting yard and as App I Rabjones was dismounting she became crushed between her mount and the mounting yard barrier. App Rabjones was attended to by QAS officers and declared unfit to fulfil her remaining engagements. Due to the proximity to the scheduled start time of the event it was deemed unreasonable to delay the start any further to secure a replacement rider and as such the gelding was declared a late scratching at 5:23pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5:23pm:

8cents in the dollar for the win
9cents in the dollar for the place don the winner

App M Savva advised that on returning to the mounting yard her mount had draw its tongue back to an extent whereby it was almost over the bit and may have contributed to its poor performance.

HAMILTON HILL- Shifted in passing the 800m when insufficiently clear of I PROMISE YOU (App A Jones), which had been inclined to lay in and was taken in further onto the running of BEEOKAY (C Taylor) causing that runner to be steadied and shift in. Stewards determined that whilst Jockey Wishart had been careless the interference in the incident was minor and exacerbated by the racing manners of I PROMISE YOU which had been inclined to lay in prior to the incident and race keenly thereafter. Nonetheless, Jockey M Wishart was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident and advised to ensure she is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
