GENERAL

As App J Molloy and jockey C Eaton were not riding at tonight’s meeting rider changers were permitted as per Stewards race-day summary.

Stewards accepted the reasons tendered for the late declaration of rider by Trainer V Heading and M Currie on their respective runners.

Trainers M Currie and M Sears were each fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR165(1) for the late oncourse arrival of their respective runners.

Trainer M Nolan was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of LR36(6) in that he failed to scratch the dual acceptor MISS GIDEON from one of the races by the prescribed time of 5pm on the day of acceptance.

Race 1: ENVISION DISABILITY SERVICES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1300m

PURGATORY- Slow to begin. ANOTHER SHEILA- Raced wide in the early stages.

MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN- Became awkwardly placed on the heels on BEACH CLUB which shifted out whilst racing keenly, having to be momentarily eased. Shifted wider rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure down the running.

Race 2: RAMS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m

WAIT A MINUTE- Improved onto the heels of a tiring runner near the 300m clipped heels, blundered and caused App M Kennedy to become unbalanced.

OUTBACK HEIGHTS- Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Commenced to tire abruptly on entering the home turn inconveniencing WAIT A MINUTE. Compounded in the home straight. Multiple post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities other than a laceration to the off-hind leg consistent with being galloped on in running. Trainers representative Ms K Mropp was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the mare again being permitted to start in a race. 15/08/2022 Trainer M Kropp advised subsequent veterinary and endoscopic examination found the mare to be suffering from left recurrent laryngeal neuropathy. Trainer Kropp advised connections would now consider the mare racing future.

Race 3: SUGDEN CRANE HIRE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1625m

CUTABRI- Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure down the running.

MADAM CHA CHA- Crowded soon after the start. Performed disappointingly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. MT MORK SHARK: App E MacPherson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that when leaving the 600m she did permit her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of EBERYNOW’N’THEN (K Zechner) causing that runner to check and lose its rightful running. App MacPhersons license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 11 days to commence 21st August up to and including 31st August 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the mid-range, App MacPhersons guilty plea and her forthright evidence as well as her record in relation to the rule. App MacPherson was advised of her right to an internal review.

HEART OF A LION- Bumped the running on entering onto the track for its preliminary. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare Trainers representative Mr B Currie advised that, in his opinion, the mare was more suited to the distance of todays event as well as being appreciative of the lighter weight and the addition of the blinkers. Stewards noted the explanation and observed that the mares better form had been over similar distances to todays event.
