QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER 2022 WEATHER – Overcast/Rain TRACK RATING – Race 1 & 2 Soft 6; Soft 5 remainder RAIL – Out 3m the entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – J Childs, D Kerwick, A JohnstonClerk of Scales – S FaheyJudge – M Fahey & B PoelstraVeterinarian – Dr A HopgoodSwab Attendants – A ChallenStarters – C Higgins & D Hodgson GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights: Race 7- Jockey L Tilley +0.5kg Race 1: MNP SECURITY MAIDEN PLATE 1640m CHOSEN DISTANCE- Trainer M Kropp was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR106(1) for having the gelding presented with unstitched bandages. Shifted in approaching the 400m hampering REIGN HAYLIN SHINE. Jockey N Evans was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. HEAR HEAR- Dwelt in the barrier. Shifted out marginally passing the 900m. When shifting out to improve passing the 350m was taken wider than intended by another runner and bumped. Laid in under pressure down the running bumping with ST MORITS near the 250m before shifting in abruptly passing the 50m and crowding GENERAL ELLIOT. Trainer Gordon Hay was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Jockey L Tilley was also advised to exercise a greater effort in straightening his mount in similar circumstances. REIGN HAYLIN SHINE- Began awkwardly. Obliged to ease off heels approaching the 400m. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and had difficulty obtaining clear running thereafter. Jockey J Murphy was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b). CAPTAIN’S LOUNGE- Raced keenly down the back straight. Bumped passing the 350m. Jockey W “DAvilla was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b). GENERAL ELLIOT- Shifted out away from heels approaching the 400m taking HEAR HEAR wider on the track. Crowded passing the 50m. WHYTEEPEE- Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 900m. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Lacy advised that her mount had never travelled comfortably in running and had been inclined o lay out for the majority before laying in down the running. Trainer T Pascoe advised that, in his opinion, the gelding is better suited to racing in a more forward position and may have been unduly favoured in the market. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. ST MORTIZ- Raced keenly passing the 1400m. Bumped passing the 250m. Performed disappointingly. App J Mollow advised that his mount had travelled well until straightening and failed to let down as expected, adding the 1600m may be beyond the geldings ideal distance. Stable representative K Zahmel advised that the gelding was at the end of its preparation and would now be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the concluding stages to ensure the crowding of GENERAL ELLIOT had not d any tangible effect on the results of the race. After viewing the footage Stewards ordered correct weight be declared on the Judges semaphored numbers. Race 2: SHARPE WORKPLACE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1640m IDLING BY- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in marginally passing the 900m and again near the 800m crowding ROSE PIN, before being quickly corrected by its rider. PHYLAVE- Dwelt in the barrier and bumped on jumping. Raced keenly from the 1500-1300m. BEARHUG- Began awkwardly. Over-raced from the 1500-1300m. Shifted out to improve passing the 400m crowding ANACHEEVA LAD. Jockey L Tilley was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. DREAM CANDY- Began awkwardly. POINT THE WAGON- Became awkwardly placed on heels when racing keenly before shifting out passing the 1300m. ROSE PIN- Momentarily crowded passing the 900m and again near the 800m. ANACHEEVA LAD- Raced wide for the majority with no cover. Crowded and bumped losing ground passing the 400m. MILAGRO- Raced wide with cover for the majority. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5 Race 3: BEST WILSON BUCKLEY FAMILY LAW BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m SHOTGUN SOCKS- Trainer M Currie was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR68(1) for failing to scratch the gelding, which was a late scratching at 9:10am, by the prescribed time. NEW YORK GAL- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 7:50am. Trainer M Currie was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. PETA CALADA- Stewards accepted the reasons tendered for the late scratching of the gelding at 7:53am GOOD GRAB- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in passing the 750m momentarily crowding runners to his inside. Jockey J Murphy was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure on entering the home straight. ULTIMATE POWER- Bumped on jumping. STARS ‘N’ RICHES- Bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 400m. YAMUMZA- Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping and lost ground. RUNAMIGO- Bumped passing the 900m after shifting in and away form another runner. Shifted in and away from another runner when crowded passing the 750m. Laid out rounding the home turn and was inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running. COUNTESS TESSA- Bumped passing the 900m and eased. Bumped passing the 400m. Obliged to shift out and around heels to improve passing the 150m. Trainer B Healey advised that as the mare has performed disappointingly at both her starts on this circuit he would look to start her elsewhere going forward. Jockey L Tilley was reminded of his obligations in relation to AR131(b) PICANNININI- Crowded passing the 750m and momentarily eased. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Lacy advised that her mount had raced flat and never travelled comfortably throughout the event. Trainer M Nolan advised that, in his opinion, the gelding prefers to race more forward that it did tonight and resents being crowded between horses, adding further that the 59.5kg impost may also have been a telling factor. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. DAZZLING FLASH- Raced wide for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Jockey G Cartwright advised that after beginning reasonably well from the wide barrier and pressuring her mount forward in the early stages it became apparent she would be caught wide she elected to restrain her mount leaving the 700m in an effort to obtain some cover however, after doing so her mount never again took up the bit. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review the official photo for 3rd place. After reviewing the photo correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers. Race 4: WILLMOT ACCOUNTING BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 1300m JACKPOT JAY- Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly down the back straight. Bumped approaching the 200m. EPICURIOUS- Dwelt in the barrier. Bumped passing the 600m. OCTAVIAN- Shifted in on jumping. Bumped soon after entering the home straight. FIGHTING COMMANDO- Shifted out on jumping. Laid in passing the 500m. Laid in under pressure down the running. OVERSEAS- Crowded on jumping. JETSKI- Bumped the inside running rail passing the 1000m. Improved onto heels having to be eased near the 750m. Shifted out and bumped passing the 600m and again soon after entering the home straight. RED MONKEY- Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: JESS JONES REAL ESTATE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m SHEINDLIN- Began awkwardly and bumped. IMITARI- Shifted out on jumping. Momentarily held up on heels entering the home straight. PETRALIA- Bumped on jumping. Crowded and bumped with SISYPHEAN leaving the 1200m and again near the 1000m. NOT TOO HARD- Bumped on jumping. ROYAL RIFT- Eased momentarily leaving the 1200m. DELANEY’S GIRL- Crowded leaving the 1200m. SISYPHEAN- Laid in and away from another runner and bumped with PETRALIA leaving the 1200m and again near the 1000m. RAVAGED REWARD- Inclined to race keenly for the majority. KYOGLE KID- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. MOJO BABY- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Race 6: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m ANTHROPICA- Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority. UCHIDA- Bumped soon after the start. ARTIE’S DREAMTIME- Bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly down the back straight when steadied to obtain cover. Laid out passing the 900m and again passing the 500m. EYE SHOOT TO WIN- Laid out passing the 900m. GUTS’N’GLORY- Crowded and disappointed for a run rounding the home turn. Raced wide with no cover for the majority. ROSE OF TAORMINA- Went amiss in its action and was steadied passing the 150m. App W Peel advised that her mount had travelled well throughout but failed to let down and after putting in an awkward stride failed to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer T Potter advised on 5th September that the mare had pulled up well and, in his opinion, would derive benefit from the run. Race 7: JETT & SKYE TEMPLETON QTIS 3yo MAIDEN PLATE 1000m DON’T TALK ABOUT IT- Slow into stride. IRISH SALLY- Bumped on jumping. SO ODELIA- Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly. Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Tilley advised that his mount had never travelled comfortably and raced greenly. WITHOUTADO- Began awkwardly then shifted out away from heels. Raced greenly in the early stages. Performed below market expectations. Jockey G Cartwright advised that, in her opinion, the filly didn’t appreciate the prevailing racing conditions those being the light rain and racing under lights in its first start. Trainer M Sears concurred with Jockey Cartwrights assessment. MISS GIDEON- Raced ungenerously passing the 800m. Shifted out marginally passing soon after entering the home straight momentarily hampering SPUR ME, which had been inclined to lay in under pressure. Jockey D’Avila was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. SPUR ME- Laid in marginally soon after entering the home straight and was momentarily hampered by another runner which shifted out. Race 8: THE KELLSTORM CLASS 3 PLATE 1875m EVERYNOW’N’THEN- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to be lame in the off-fore. As such the mare was subsequently declared a late scratching at 8:20pm. All monies in vested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with no deductions applicable as oncourse betting had not commenced on the event. Trainer V Heading was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. CLAP CHAP- Soon after the start became awkwardly placed on heels and shifted in and bumped. DELAYED LAUNCH- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. MT MORK SHARK- Slow into stride. Took the 1600m turn awkwardly and blundered when racing over the course proper crossing. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. REPETITEUR- Began awkwardly and obliged to steady off heels. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J Gleeson was advised a warning would be placed on the mares competitiveness. GOT THE LOT- Laid in under pressure down the running. App E MacPherson was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip 6 times, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
