QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 10th September 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – Out 5m the entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – J Childs, A Johnston Clerk of Scales – A CucksonJudge – S Fahey & B PoelstraVeterinarian – Dr A HopgoodSwab Attendants – D MacDonaldStarters – B Mallory & D Hodgson Race 1: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING MAIDEN PLATE 2150m AMERICAN PIONEER- Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey G Geran was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SUDDEN SUSPECT (W D’Avila) causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Gerans license to ride in race was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence 18th September up to and including 26th September 2022. In considering the matter Stewards noted AMERICAN PIONEER’s racing manners leading into the incident however determined that once the gelding had ceased to over-race and commenced to shift in Jockey Geran did fail to exercise sufficient effort in preventing his mount from shifting in onto the running of SUDDEN SUSPECT. Stewards determined the incident to be in the low range of carelessness and severity and took into account Jockey Gerans good record in relation to the rule. Jockey Geran was advised of his right to an internal review. SUDDEN SUSPECT- Checked and lost ground passing the winning post on the first occasion when a runner to the outside shifted in when insufficiently clear. CHOSEN DISTANCE- Jockey N Evans pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he did permit his mount to shift in near the 1700m when insufficiently clear of CRAYPOT (S Lacy) causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Evans license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence 11th September up to and including 20th September 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered the carelessness and severity of the interference, which were deemed to be in the low range, as well as Jockey Evans record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea. Jockey Evans was advised of his right to an internal review. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost a near hind plate in running. CRAYPOT- Checked and lost ground near the 1700m when a runner to the outside shifted in when insufficiently clear. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost an off-fore plate in running. CRAIGLEA CLIO- Began very awkwardly and was slow into stride. Bumped the inside running rail near the 1800m. Raced wide down the back straight. GRINZINGER HULK- Raced keenly passing the 1400m. Laid out for the majority and took the home turn wide proving difficult to ride out down the running. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer A Park was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result. Race 2: KENNARDS HIRE CLASS 2 PLATE 1300m HUNTING GOLD- Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Settled further back than expected. App C Collis advised that his instructions had been to be positive early but not to place his mount under undue pressure as his mount was resuming from a spell, adding that after beginning only fairly elected not to pressure his mount and settled in a midfield position with cover. Stable representative Mr B Currie corroborated the instructions and advised the Stable had been pleased by the run. Stewards noted the explanations. DREAM DECISION- Bumped passing the 1200m. Bumped and shifted out at the 900m. ZOU ZOUAMORE- Bumped passing the 1200m. Hung out and bumped at the 900m. Laid out for the majority and hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer K Kemp was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. HAIL TO THE CHIEF- Laid out leaving the 900m. HIDDEN HILLS- Inclined to race keenly for the majority of the back straight. Held up for clear running from the 500m until a point near the 400m when shifting back in. Laid in under pressure down the running. KING BART- Under pressure from the 600m to maintain contact with the field. MASSIE WHISPER- Raced wide for the majority. Finished tailed off. Trainer C Rogers was advised the mares nominations at Provincial TAB venues would now be refused until its country form had improved. Race 3: TAB RACE CALLERS CUP BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1850m OUR SPIDER- Slow to begin. RED WAVE- Began awkwardly and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after having to be eased. Raced wide from the 1400m. Shifted in marginally passing the 800m. TAPPY’S ONE- Momentarily crowded passing the 800m. CHOCOLATIER- Raced wide until the 1400m. Shifted in tightening and bumping with IN YOUR ELEMENT near the 100m. Jockey Geran was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Jockey Geran was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 9 occasions, 4 more than permitted, prior to the 100m. Jockey Geran advised that his mount had been uncharacteristically settled in its preliminary and had raced somewhat flat during the event. Trainer C Geran advised on the 12/9/22 that the gelding had pulled up well subsequent to the event but had been disappointing in its performance. Trainer Geran further advised of an intention to have bloods taken for analysis from the gelding and undertook to advise Stewards of those results. CANNY CAT- Commenced to lose ground from the 700m and momentarily crowded near the 600m. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer N Hahn advised the gelding would now likely be sent for an immediate spell and undertook to advised should anything become apparent regarding the geldings conditions in the coming days. IN YOUR ELEMENT- Tightened and bumped near the 100m. DREAMTIMER- When queried regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer K Kemp advised that he believed the gelding to be better suited to trips over such distances and that it had been pleasing in its work leading into the event. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 4: SELECTED SEEDS STATHI KATSIDIS BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 1100m ELEGIST- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Laid in rounding the home turn crowding KAPPY CINO. App Collis was reminded of his obligations to ensure he rides his mounts out to the finish of the race. COLD HARD FACT- Slow into stride. KAPPY CINO- Momentarily eased off heels near the 1000m. Momentarily crowded on entering the home straight. V J DAY- Bumped the inside running rail near the 500m. SNOWFIRE- Shifted ground under pressure down the running. Race 5: PLATINUM ROOFING CLASS 1 PATE 1050m MY BIG BROTHER- Slow into stride. Laid in passing the 550m and bumped. Laid in and away from another runner passing the 450m crowding SHAME JOB. Jockey B Newport was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. SHAME JOB- Bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 550m. Crowded and obliged to steady off heels passing the 450m. SISTINE AVENUE- Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied off heels near the 900m. SPIRIT OF LUCK- Bumped on jumping. Laid in rounding the home turn. Momentarily eased off heels on entering the home straight. Shifted in under pressure down the running. MAHBABY- Bumped on jumping. Laid out on entering the home straight hampering SPIRIT OF LUCK. Jockey G Geran was advertised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. MILANO BOOM- Momentarily steadied off heels near the 900m. Shifted in near the 450m crowding runners to its inside. Jockey K Zechner was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Bumped near the 200m. Bumped on the hindquarters approaching the 100m becoming unbalanced and shifted out. NEW YORK GAL- Shifted out under pressure passing the 200m. IN HAVANA- Laid in under pressure down the running. EIL ‘N’ ALL- Bumped near the 200m. Laid in and away from another runner approaching the 100m and bumped the hindquarters of MILANO BOOM before becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner and having to be eased. Raced wide for the majority. BINNALONG BELLE- Raced wide for the majority. Race 6: MOCO FOOD SERVICES CLASS 1 PLATE 1050m MISS MOSCATO- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. PENNYWORTH- Began awkwardly. SOLSKJAER- Began awkwardly. SHOTGUN SOCKS- Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out passing the 400m and bumped passing the 350m. NEVROM LION- Shifted in and away from another runner passing the 900m despite the efforts of its rider and crowded DARCIE GIRL. Jockey J Murphy pleaded guilty to a chare of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LONGSHOT LIZZIE (App J Molloy), which was obliged to restrain and lose its rightful running. Jockey Murphys license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 18th September up to and including 25th September 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the low range as well as Jockey Murphys good record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea. Jockey Murphy was advised of his right to an internal review. DARCIE GIRL- Crowded and eased passing the 900m. LONGSHOT LIZZIE- Shifted out marginally passing the 900m. Obliged to restrain and lost ground passing the 800m when a runner to the outside shifted in when insufficiently clear. MR STACK- Bumped passing the 350m. Commenced to tire from the 300m. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 7: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTION MAIDEN HANDICAP 1050m Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the official patrol footage so as to ascertain whether the bridle of LASTING PROMISE had shifted prior to the start being effected or during the event. After viewing the footage and taking evidence from Rider App J Molloy Stewards determined the bridle shifted over the off-side ear in running, near the 700m, placing the gelding at a disadvantage from that point. As such, correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers. COBURG- Shifted out on jumping and bumped. Bumped passing the 600m. FLYING JOY- Slow to begin. SUPER LEAGUE- Dwelt in the barrier before being crowded on jumping. GIDGET- Began awkwardly. CLIFF LOVER- Shifted in marginally passing the 800m. Buffeted between runners passing the 600m. Bumped passing the 350m. Raced wide for the majority. I AM JIMMY- Buffeted between runners passing the 600m. Bumped passing the 350m. LASTING PROMISE- Bridle shifted near the 700m placing the gelding at a disadvantage from that point. Bumped passing the 600m. Hung out and raced wide for the majority. Unable to be ridden out effectively down the running. Race 8: BLACK & WHITE CABS QTIS 3yo CLASS 1 PLATE 1625m CRAIGLEA ETNA- Dislodged Jockey B Newport in the preliminary and galloped riderless for some distance. As such was declared a late scratching at 9:00pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the filly were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 9:00pm: 11cents in the dollar for the win on the winner9cents in the dollar for the place on the winner Trainer K Johnston was advised the filly would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. CAPTAINS LOUNGE- Fractious in the barrier and dislodged Jockey S Lacy. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9:05pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 9:05pm: 9cents in the dollar for the win on the winner9cents in the dollar for the place on the winner Trainer M Nolan was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race as well as that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. No reportable incident occurred during the running of the race.
