QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD 4- RACE 1 AND 2. GOOD 3 FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PROGRAM. RAIL – +3 ENTIRE COURSE PENETROMETER – 4.80 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T Preston Stewards – C Warren, J Childs, D MacDonald, W Glass.Clerk of Scales – S FaehyJudge – M Faehy, B PolelstraVeterinarian – Dr G CavanaghSwab Attendants – J PetrofskyStarter – B MalloryAssistant Starter- C Higgins GENERAL As Jockey W D’Avila was injured at the Warwick JC Meeting on the 11/11/2022 he will not be riding at today’s meeting. All rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary. After the running of Race 2 at today’s program the Track rating was upgraded to a Good 3. As Jockey M Powell and App M Kennedy became unable to fulfil their engagements rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary Race 1: Samios Plumbing Supplies 75 Year Anniversary Maiden Handicap 870 metres Cheers Mate- Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m shifted in resulting in JOHNNY DEEP being taken inward and as a result GINNY WAH was tightened for room. At a subsequent inquiry Appr Jockey I Rabjones was charged with careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) and pleaded guilty in that she did not make sufficient effort in straightening her mount and shifted in resulting in JOHNNY DEEP to the inside being taken inward and GINNY WAH being tightened for room and checked. In determining penalty Stewards considered all evidence available to them, Ms Rabjones forthright evidence, her record, and degree of interference. Stewards suspended Appr Jockey I Rabjones licence to ride in races for a period of eight (8) days commencing on the 20/11/2022 up to and including the 27/11/2022. Ms Rabjones was advised of her Right to Review. Post-Race Vet examination was undertaken and revealed poor post-race recovery with abnormal lung sounds. Vet Certificate and Scope Results required prior to the Gelding racing again. Stewards spoke with Trainer M Nolan in relation to the late arrival on course of CHEER MATE, Stewards accepted Mr Nolan’s explanation. Egalite- Raced greenly for the majority of the event. When approaching the 50m point the rider lost his whip. Ginny Wah- Slow to begin. Tightened for room at approximately the 600m point by a runner to the outside and lost ground. Johnny Deep- Slow to begin, tightened for room on jumping and lost ground taken in by another runner when approaching the 600m point, resulting in the runner to the inside GINNY WAH being tightened for room. My Moses- Laid in under pressure from the 200m point. Peppimenarti- A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken whichrevealed no abnormalities. Race 2:Harvey Norman Commercial Toowoomba Class 1 Plate 1300 metres Roaring Thunder- Slow to begin. Laid in when passing the 400m before being corrected by its rider. Shifted wide shortly after entering the home straight to obtain clear running. Zeitakuna- Began awkwardly and bumped CASSOWARY as the start was affected. At the 900m made contact with the inside rail and raced keenly from that point having to be eased off heels near the 850m. Cassowary- Bumped by another runner on jumping. Lady Danoro- Raced three-wide with cover for the majority. Laid in for a short distance in the home straight. Stewards will contact Trainer L Baskett and enquire into the late arrival on course of LADY DANORO. Pennyworth- Raced three- wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in running. Blue Smartie - Raced three-wide with cover for the majority of the event. Race 3: 3 IOR BM65 Handicap 1625 metres High I Cue- Momentarily held up for a run from the 400m point. Octavian- Post Race Veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg, Vet clearance required prior to next start. Ruby's Lad- Slow to begin. Inconvenienced by another runner to the inside when approaching the 1400m and had to be restrained. Spirit's Charm- Raced keenly from the 1400m for a short distance. Failed to handle the home turn after hanging out. Shifted ground when under pressure down the running then shifted out over the concluding stages. Had to ease off heels over the concluding stages. By The Law- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly from the 1300m and raced wide for the majority. Had to steady off heels over the concluding stages. Package- Slow to begin. Approaching the 1400m the gelding shifted out whilst over-racing resulting in RUBYS LAD being inconvenienced and the rider having to take hold. Stewards pursuant to AR131(a) reprimanded Appr Jockey T Townsend in relation to the incident. Shifted wide in the back straight to avoid the heels of another runner and raced wide from that point. East Esplanade- Bumped the inside rail on two occasions at the 1000m and again approaching the 900m point. Race 4:NEWLANDS GROUP Maiden Handicap 1200 metres Witness Attack- Laid in shortly after the start bumping with LA VITTORIA on two occasions then raced keenly from the 900m point for some distance. Sweet Wind- Slow to begin. La Vittoria- Bumped on two occasions with WITNESS ATTACK soon after the start. On returning to scale Jockey J Murphy advised Stewards that his mount failed to improve or respond to his riding in running despite his best efforts. Stewards noted his comments. Latin Lyric- Began awkwardly. Shifted in after entering the home straight then laid in under pressure from the 100m point over the final stages Gus The Bus- Hung out in the home straight. Race 5:TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES Class 5 Handicap1200 metres Abdicating- Laid out at the 900m for a short distance. Avoca - Shortly after the start laid in and bumped NAVAL STRIKE. Naval Strike- Bumped by another runner shortly after beginning. Sizzling Babe- Began awkwardly. Leaving the 900m improved onto heels and had to be eased. Race 6:WESTERN TRUCK GROUP QTIS Three-Years-Old MaidenHandicap 1100 metres Airit- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. End Assembly- Tightened for room on jumping by another runner to the inside and then bumped BY BY BEAN heavily which then became unbalanced. Jockey N Keal was reprimanded by Stewards pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding when shortly after the start he dictated SLINKY’s STAR inward after shifting in when insufficiently clear shortly after the start. Jockey N Keal was reprimanded under the provisions of AR115(1) in that he did misconduct himself by being present in the ‘winners lounge’ with connections of the gelding/filly/mare immediately following the event. Kalumburu- Shortly after beginning bumped another runner to the inside then took the home turn awkwardly crowding MASTER GEE on entering the home straight. Appr J Molloy was advised to exercise more care. Mordecai- Laid in at the 800m point. Post -race when passing the 1400m area while attempting to pull her mount up. Appr Jockey T Townsend was dislodged. Ms Townsend was examined by QAS and was uninjured in the incident. By By Bean- Was dislodged shortly after the start after being bumped heavily by END ASSEMBLY on the inside and then again by the runner to the outside KALUMBURU. Appr Jockey M Kennedy was stood down by Stewards after being examined by QAS. Ms Kennedy was advised that she would need to undergo a COG test and obtain a medical clearance prior to her riding again. Master Gee- At the 450m point made contact with the inside running rail, became unbalanced and shifted out. Approaching the 300m point was crowded for room by another runner. Forebears- Began awkwardly and bumped END ASSEMBLY at the start. Laid in approaching the 600m point then became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels and had to be eased. Slinky's Star- Began awkwardly and jumped out. Over raced for the majority of the event. At approximately the 450m point had to shift out to avoid heels. Race 7: McNAB 0 - 58 Handicap 1850 metres Ironside- Began awkwardly and bumped by FOXY ROSE at the start. Condover Hall – Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Due to a seemingly disappointing performance a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding was undertaken. This examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Mawn was questioned by Stewards, and he advised that the stable was expecting a much better performance than the gelding showed in today’s run and was very disappointed. He could offer no explanation for the poor performance and advised that he would consider the horse’s future in coming days and would contact Stewards should any post-race health issues with the horse be forthcoming. Stewards noted Mr Mawn’s comments. He's Viral- Crowded for room momentarily at the 1700m and then raced keenly until the 1600m then shifted wide from that point. Mojo Baby- Raced keenly from the 1500m point. Foxy Rose- Began awkwardly and bumped another runner at the start. Was momentarily held up for a clear running in the home straight. Race 8:NEWLANDS 0 - 58 Handicap 1850 metres Flying Joy- Laid in approaching the 1700m crowding another runner to his inside. Jockey N Evans was advised to exercise more care. Buddy's Tale- The start of the event was delayed to allow for the gelding to be resaddled. Slow to begin. Subtly Spring- Crowded for room at the 1700m point by FLYING JOY which laid in. Sunsoutgunsout- Slow to begin. Raced towards the tail of the field for the majority. Tripper- Slow to begin.
