QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB TOOWOOMBA – Saturday 11th FEBRUARY 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – Out 3metres the entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C Warren Stewards – J Childs, D MacDonald & W GlassClerk of Scales – A CucksonJudge – S Fahey & B PoelstraVeterinarian – Dr S DuiganSwab Attendants – R BurchmannStarters – C Higgins SUPPLEMENTARY 4th February, Toowoomba- Stewards resumed an inquiry into Trainer Michael Nolan’s stabling of horses at an address other than his registered stabling addresses. Mr Nolan pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR101(1) in that he did fail to notify and/or seek permission from Stewards to stable horses in his charge at a location other than his registered stabling addresses. Mr Nolan was fined the sum of $200 and advised of his right to an internal review. GENERAL As App S Champkin and Jockey A Thompson were not riding due to injury replacements were made as per Stewards race-day summary. Following an incident in Race 6 which resulted in App I Rabjones being transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital for further treatment and observation, start times for races 7 & 8 were amended as follows: Race 7- 9:17pmRace 8- 9:48pm Race 1: CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m JERONIMOS- Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and again in the early stages of the home straight before shifting out and bumping with ELMITA approaching the 200m. Jockey J Kissick pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out to the finish of the race. Jockey Kissicks license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 1 (one) calendar month to commence, upon the completion of another suspension, on the 22nd February up to and including the 22nd March 2023. In determining penalty Stewards determined that Jockey Kissicks actions had cost the gelding first place when considering the ½ head margin and the complete absence of any vigour over the final 40m of the event. Stewards also considered Jockey Kissicks Guilty plea and his forthright evidence, noting that he had mistaken the location of the winning post, as well as his record in relation to the rule.
