GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances:
Race 6 – IRISH SALLY (G Geran) plus 1/2kg
Race 7 – STEP LIVELY – (M Powell) plus 1kg
 
Race 1: BROWN & HURLEY BM62 Handicap 1210 metres
 
ISAREADY – Raced wide throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination of ISAREADY revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer S Kirkwood was advised that as this is the 1st time the gelding has bled, it would incur a three (3) month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again (AR79(4)
 
JUST ENGAGED – On arrival at the barriers JUST ENGAGED underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination after the gelding had struck the rail on leaving the mounting yard, passed to take its place in the field. Fractious in the barrier, reared as the start was affected dislodging the rider. Correct weight was delayed to ascertain if JUST ENGAGED had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the patrol footage stewards were satisfied that other than for its own actions JUST ENGAGED had been afforded a fair start and declared the gelding a runner. Trainer M Currie was advised the gelding will be required to undergo two (2) barrier certificates to stewards satisfaction prior to racing again AR20(e).
 
 
DON'T DISS AROUND – Approaching the 400m improved onto heels and had to be checked. Held up for clear running until near the 300m.
 
BRINGONTHEBUBBLES – Over-raced for a short distance near the 800m. Jockey L Tilley returned to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight and fined $300 under AR190(3)
 
DRAGON PINS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: QUEENSLAND COTTON BM70 Handicap 1050 metres
 
HOLIDAY DREAMS –  Bumped by BY BY MUSIC near the 1000m.
 
WANDER –  Slow to begin.
 
KING OF THE DESERT – Raced wide throughout. Bumped by VAST KAMA on a number of occasions near the 400m.
 
VAST KAMA –  Shifted out near the 400m when attempting to improve and made contact with KING OF THE DESSERT on a number of occasions.
 
MAGIC ON ICE – Jumped awkwardly, lost ground.
 
NOWYUNOMI (NZ) – Lost both front plates during the race.
 
BY BY MUSIC – Shifted in after passing the 1000m and made contact with HOLIDAY DREAMS and became unbalanced. Raced wide without cover.
 
SINGLE MEMO – When questioned as to the disappointing performance of SINGLE MEMO, jockey A Allen could offer no tangible explanation other than that when placed under pressure entering the home straight failed to respond to his riding. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 3: HYPO HAULAGE Class 2 Plate 1300 metres
 
OUR MAGNUS – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
UNCLE BUD –  Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BRING ME FLOWERS –  Over-raced outside the leaders in the early stages. Jockey J Molloy when asked to comment stated that the horse raced too keenly in the early and middle stages and refused to settle. He felt that this had a detrimental effect on the mares’ performance. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
RADIANT QUEEN – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE QTIS Three-Years-Old
Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
QUOTHQUAN – After passing the 500m steadied to avoid heels. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SUPER ZAMBONI –  Protest lodged by jockey D Smith against POINT BREAK, which dead heated for first alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, it was established that both POINT BREAK and SUPER ZAMBONI shifted ground over the concluding stages causing minor contact between both horses, however stewards were not satisfied that this had a material effect on either runner and therefore dismissed the objection.
 
TRAIN ROCK –  Began awkwardly, lost ground. Steadied to avoid heels after passing the 500m and checked when racing greenly near the 400m.
 
BET LUCY – Slow to begin.
 
DAUNTING LADY – Slow to begin.
 
RED SHIRAZ - Near the 500m checked and lost ground when tightened for room by VELVET REVOLUTION which hung in despite the efforts of its rider after having been brushed by RECANATI.
 
VELVET REVOLUTION –  Raced greenly throughout shifted out near the 800m. Hung in near the 500m causing interference to RED SHIRAZ. Trainer G Allard to be advised a warning is placed on the filly’s racing manners.
 
ACIREMA –  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
POINT BREAK –  Raced wide throughout without cover and laid in throughout and in particular in the home straight when under pressure. Protest lodged by trainer K Jones against jockey D Smith rider of SUPER ZAMBORI, which dead heated for first, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, it was established that both POINT BREAK and SUPER ZAMBONI shifted ground over the concluding stages causing minor contact between both horses, however stewards were not satisfied that this had a material effect on either runner and therefore dismissed the objection.
 
RECANATI –  Shifted in near the 800m brushing with VELVET REVOLUTION.
 
ROSE OF RAHEEN – Near the 800m reluctant to hold its position between runners when obliged to race in restricted room between RECANATI which shifted in and VELVET REVOLUTION which shifted out.
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE PITTSWORTH QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden
Handicap 1000 metres
 
OUTTA BEAUTY -  Slow to begin. Shifted in and away from COMBAT MISSION approaching the 800m causing HOPETOUN SUNRISE to steady.
 
HOPETOUN SUNRISE –  Approaching the 800m was obliged to steady when racing in restricted room to the inside of OUTTA BEAUTY which shifted in and away from COMBAT MISSION despite the efforts of its rider.
 
FROZEN MISS –  Slow to begin.
 
NOTHING SERIOUS –  Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
WE GIRLS –  Steadied from heels after passing the 800m.
 
 
 
Race 6: RDO EQUIPMENT 0 - 62 Handicap 1640 metres
 
DROP THE PILOT – Declared a late scratching at 5.41 p.m. following a request by trainer P Nolan (Jnr) due to the track downgrade.
 
JERONIMOS (NZ) -  Laid in under pressure in the home straight. App J Molloy was fined $200 for use of the whip 9 times prior to the 100m which is 4 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
TRUE PATRIOT -  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey J Stanley stated the gelding over-raced after obtaining the lead in the early stages and believes this had a detrimental effect on its performance. A post-race Veterinary inspection of the gelding revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
IRISH SALLY –  Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
FOXY ROSE –  Raced wide during the early stages.
 
KIBBIT RAHEEB –  Crowded for room at the start and lost ground.
 
 
Race 7: BROOKSTEAD FARMING Maiden Plate 1640 metres
 
A DEVIL'S CHANCE  - As jockey J Morris was injured at another venue, replaced by J Stanley.
 
WHYTEEPEE –  Tightened for room at the start then raced wide throughout. Obliged to steady near the 300m when racing in restricted room.
 
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) –  Raced wide in the early stages then shifted wider to improve leaving the 800m.
 
DIAMONDSANDPEARLS –  Slow to begin.
