Callow was not riding for acceptable reasons, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the race Day summary sheet. B Ainsworth was advised she will require a medical clearance prior to her next race ride. Race 1: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 870M COURAGEOUS ONE – Slow to begin. THE SNUGGLER – Passing the 300m improved onto heels of HIPPEASTRUM, shifted out abruptly and hampered LES GIRLS. THIS IS ONE – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn. LES GIRLS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Hampered passing the 300m. MATILLY – Shifted in and bumped the running rail near the 500m. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight TESSELEIGHT – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. VIENNESE LOVER – When asked to comment on the performance, rider S Apthorpe stated the filly never travelled comfortably and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Baker advised that in light of tonight’s disappointing performance he would now send VIENNESE LOVER for a spell. Race 2: THE NUPTIALS - CONGRATULATIONS ANGELA & DARREN Colts, Geldings & Entir 1300M Correct weight was delayed allowing L Dittman, rider of 4th placegetter BOHEMIAN BOOM, to view the start of the event. After viewing the patrol footage Stewards found the horse reared as the start was effected and as such was declared a starter. Trainer’s representative for R Heathcote was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. SUBSTITUTION – Apprentice L O’Donnell reported her saddle commenced to shift back from the 1000m placing her at some disadvantage for the remainder of the event. AVOCA – Slow to begin. BOHEMIAN BOOM – Reared at the start and lost ground. Inclined to lay in for a majority of the race. Approaching the 100m was held up for clear running before a short distance later shifting out to improve. OUTLAW JOSEY WALES – Raced wide throughout. START STRUTTING – Restrained from the wide barrier shortly after the start to obtain to a rearward position closer to the rails with cover. Near the 600m improved onto heels and shifted out. Race 3: SEDL AGENCIES Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300M WINDJANA – Rider reported the horse pulled up quickly after passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Hatch advised stewards he would now give consideration to sending the horse for a spell. CARRIER BUSTER – Began awkwardly. Had a tendency to lay in during the early and middle stages of the event. SUPER LEAGUE – Passing the 400m was held up until entering the home straight before then shifting to the inside of ALFA FILLY to secure clear running a short distance later. SUPER VOGUE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. AVENUE OF HEAVEN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MISERY MISS – Raced wide throughout. BEACH CLUB – Slow to begin. YOURALLTHAT – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Molloy stated this was the mare’s first start over 1300m and that YOURALLTHAT over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event. He added that in his opinion YOURALLTHAT would be better suited to races over shorter distances than that of tonight. BLUE VELVET – Jumped awkwardly and was then slow to muster speed. Race 4: RDO EQUIPMENT JOHN DEERE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1625M IRONSIDE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROMAN DAGGER – Hampered on jumping away. DISTANT SECRET – Near the 1400m had to be restrained from the heels of EAST ESPLANADE which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice A. Donald, rider of EAST ESPLANADE, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) in this incident. JOYBELLS – When weakening, was checked near the 300m after DISTANT SECRET shifted in and away from IRONSIDE despite the efforts of its rider. BELLICOSE, which was racing to the inside of JOYBELLS, was crowded for room as a consequence, and also had to be checked. A post-race veterinary examination of JOYBELLS revealed the filly to be sore across the back. Trainer A. Park was be advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for the filly prior to racing again. EAST ESPLANADE – Passing the 500m was hampered when JOYBELLS, which was weakening, laid in despite the efforts of the rider. BELLICOSE – Jumped awkwardly and as a result settled back further than anticipated. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 300m had to be checked when JOYBELLS, which was weakening, shifted in and away from DISTANT SECRET. Race 5: LUKE & BETINA TIE THE KNOT Maiden Plate 1625M A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Rider J Stanley reported the horse did not travel comfortably throughout the event and expressed disappointment in the overall effort. Trainer J Aitkenhead gave an undertaking to report back any condition which may come to light in the coming days which may explain the performance. BURN THE BOATS – When S Callow was indisposed and there was no apprentice rider available, Stewards permitted G Cartwright to ride the horse. Slow to begin. MY WHISTLEBLOWER – Held up for clear running from the 500m until near the 300m. Apprentice J. Molloy was fined $300 under the provisions of AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. THE UPRISING – Jockey N. Fazackerley returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight and was fined $300 under the provisions of AR 211(1). MONGOLIAN FLAME – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance rider M. Hellyer explained the mare was fractious prior to the race and over raced throughout, adding that he felt this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of MONGOLIAN FLAME. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer A. Park advised Stewards that she will continue with the current preparation for the mare. RUGGED WOMAN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. ZESTY BOY – Finished some distance from the main body of the field. Considering the disappointing performance, trainer G. Forge was advised that the gelding would incur a bar from racing at TAB meetings until it establishes more competitive form at country race meetings. Race 6: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES Maiden Handicap 1200M POINT GUARD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BELPHEGOR – Leaving the 900m when being restrained to obtain cover, got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance. ELUSIVE WISDOM – Slow into stride and lost ground. Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MAC MONTY – Began awkwardly. KALUMBURU – Clipped heels and blundered shortly after the start. CARGO – Jockey M. Hellyer reported that he was not happy with the action of the mare during the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer A. Park was requested to report back to Stewards if anything comes to light in the following days to explain the performance of the mare. ON THE MANTLE – Shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with KALUMBURU which blundered after contacting the heels of BELPHEGOR. Checked near the 400m. After taking evidence riders N Tomizawa (ON THE MANTLE), K Yoshida (POINT GUARD), M Hellyer (CARGO), and M Murphy (ELUSIVE WISDOM), it was established that POINT GUARD, which was racing tightly to the inside of both CARGO and ELUSIVE WISDOM, laid in at that point despite the efforts of rider K Yoshida, resulting in ON THE MANTLE being checked. REBEL LASS – As had not started for an extended time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. FRENCH MINER – Slow to begin. From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a rearward position with cover. Raced ungenerously making the home turn wide on the track. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: CARPET ONE Class 4 Handicap 1100M READY BABE – As had not started for an extended time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. BY BY MUSIC – Approaching the 900m steadied from the heels of JACK BE LUCKY which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey L. Tilley was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR 131(a) in this incident. WANDA ROX – Began awkwardly. SHOCK AND AWE – When restrained shortly after the start to obtain a position with cover, commenced to race ungenerously until a point near 800m. Race 8: AG RIGGING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 870M MARRIED IN VEGAS – Slow to begin and was then unable to muster speed in the early stages.
