GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights at tonight’s meeting; Race 3- Jockey A Allen +1/2kgRace 5- Jockey G Steele +1/2kgRace 7- Jockey A Thompson +1/2kg Race 1: PRIME THOROUGHBREDS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m OUR LIL SISTAR- Trainer B Gorman was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the mare. ORACOLO- Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure down the running. ORSETTO- Obliged to ease off heels near the 800m. Shifted ground under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. WINDJANA- Began awkwardly. Laid out for the majority. Raced wide for the majority. LAI SEE- Began awkwardly. Shifted out around heels near the 400m. SONIC ARROW- Shifted in near the 800m when not fully clear of ORSETTO. Jockey L Tarrant was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Race 2: OAKEY PHARMACY WINTER SPRINTERS SERIES- HEAT- BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000m INCOMPARABLE- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:09pm when found to be lame in the near-side hind leg. Trainer T Dougal was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race. APPALACHIAN- Slow into stride and crowded on jumping. Restrained near the 800m in an effort to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail. Momentarily held up before shifting out around heels near the 400m. INDERNILE- Slow into stride. NEVER SAY NAY- Shifted out to improve and bumped near the 1000m. AL PAL’S GAL- Began awkwardly. Bumped approaching the 400m. App T Fenlon was reprimanded under the provisions of AR128(1) for failing to arrive on course by the prescribed time. UNCLE RUSS- Began awkwardly. SWAN ISLAND- Following the running of the event Jockey L Tarrant advised Stewards that his mount felt off in its action over the concluding stages. Trainer B Gorman advised that it would be the intention of connections to now retire the mare. Nonetheless, as the mare had been removed from the course prior to a veterinary examination taking place Mr Gorman was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Additionally, Jockey Tarrant was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR114(2). Race 3: DJL BUILDING GROUP CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1300m SUBSTITUTION- Jockey L McCoy was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that, near the 200m, she did permit her mount to shift out under pressure when insufficiently clear of ARTIE’S DESTINY causing that runner to be severely tightened, checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey McCoys license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 11days to commence 11th June up to and including 21st June 2023. In determining penalty Stewards determined the carelessness to be in the low range whilst the severity of interference to be in the high-end of midrange. Jockey McCoys good record in relation to the rule was also noted. Jockey McCoy was advised of her right to an appeal. Performed below market expectations. Jockey L McCoy advised that, in her opinion, the hard early pace was likely a telling factor in the finish however, her mount still proved disappointing. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. COOL ENCOUNTER- Held up rounding the home turn. SLY CORNER- Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey A Thompson advised his mount felt off in its actions over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. MISS CINNAMONCIDER- Raced keenly down the back straight. Crowded near the 200m. PERFECT LEGACY- Shifted in and away from heels near the 900m. BUMP’N’RUN- Bumped and taken in near the 200m. START STRUTTING- Began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 700m. ARTIE’S DESTINY- Held up for clear running and crowded on entering the home straight. Severely tightened and obliged to check near the 200m before shifting in and bumping. COAXIAL- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:40pm. Trainer P Webster was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Race 4: BEN LIESCH, RAY WHITE TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1625m HYLAND BAY- Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. GRINZINGER KNIGHT- Raced keenly in the back straight when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. Laid out approaching the 400m crowding PACKAGE. Jockey N Evans was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. THE CARPENTER- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. PACKAGE- Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Crowded approaching the 400m. TOMBOY’S SPIRIT- Over-raced in the back straight. Taken wider by another runner passing the 500m. BLAVATSKY- Raced keenly in the early stages. Over-raced on heels in the early stages of the back straight before shifting out to improve. VILLADEN- Raced keenly down the back straight. Shifted out to improve near the 500m before laying in approaching the 400m and crowding PACKAGE. App C Waddell was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Race 5: LIEBKE TYRES MAIDEN PLATE 870m MORE MAX- Slow into stride. TIME FOR JACK- Raced wide for the majority. IRONSTONE GAL- Crowded and bumped near the 750m before shifting out and bumping again. METHIL- Near the 750m was obliged to check and shift in and bumped before again being bumped and becoming unbalanced. TIME TO LAUNCH- Laid in under pressure down the running. KITRI- App S Champkin pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that, near the 750m, she did permit her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of METHIL causing that runner to be checked and shift in, bumping with EMPERIOR TEIO which was crowded and bumped with IRONSTONE GAL which in turn shifted out further crowding EMPERIOR TEIO which shifted out and bumped with METHIL causing that runner to become unbalanced and loose further ground. App Champkins license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 18th June up to and including 25th June 2023. In determining penalty Stewards placed the carelessness and severity of interference in the upper end of low range, whilst also considering App Champkins guilty plea, forthright evidence and noted this was App Champkins first suspension under the rule. App Champkin was advised of her right of appeal. DEEMED A DRAGON- Laid in marginally near the 500m. EMPERIOR TEIO- Crowded and bumped several times near the 750m. Race 6: MAZZA’S DIRTY THIRTY QTIS 3yo BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100m DEB’S ELLIE- Bumped soon after the start. Laid in near the 350m momentarily crowding PALAZZO SPIRIT- App T Fenlon was advised to exercise greater care in ensuring her mounts don’t unintentionally shift ground in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure down the running. PALAZZO SPIRIT- Momentarily crowded near the 350m. Performed disappointingly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which reveal a slow post-race recovery. Trainer R Bowen will be advised a warning will be placed on the geldings competitiveness. WHERE’S TEEKAY NOW- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. GOLDELUCK- Slow into stride. Obliged to check leaving the 800m. FLANK SPEED- Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the home straight. HUE- Bumped soon after the start. App A Donald pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), in that, leaving the 800m she did permit her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GOLDELUCK causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. App Donalds license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence 18th June up to and including 26th June 2023. In determining penalty Stewards determined the degree of carelessness and severity of interference to be in the low range, Stewards also considered App Donalds guilty plea and her good record in relation to the rule. Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 400m. HURI BLACK- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Race 7: REMEMBERING LUCKY CLOUD’S STRADBROKE WIN CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1850m JERONIMOS- Began awkwardly and bumped. ADALISSA- Shifted in and away from heels on jumping. MANTINELLO- Began awkwardly before being tightened and losing ground. HE’S VIRAL- Began awkwardly and shifted in before being corrected. EVERYNOW’N’THEN- Was declared a late scratching at 8:00pm on veterinary advice after identified to be displaying signs of colic. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 8:00pm; 0cents in the dollar for the win11cents in the dollar for the place on the winner12cents in the dollar for 2nd place Trainer V Heading was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race. KNEZE—Began awkwardly before being crowded and losing ground. Raced keenly int eh early and middle stages. Laid out passing the 1500m. CONSULAR- Bumped on jumping and shifted out. Raced keenly down the backs straight.
