GENERAL
 
As apprentice A. Donald was indisposed, Rider A. Thompson had transport difficulties and Rider N. Evans and Apprentice J. Molloy were not riding at tonight’s meeting for acceptable reasons, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Apprentice Donald was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
The following horses were declared a late scratching when subsequently no riders were available:
Race 1 – MANDALONG FLAG, DRAGON PINS
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 5 – BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY – L. Tilley +0.5kg (56kg)
 
Race 1: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1100M)
 
POINT BREAK – Bumped shortly after jumping. Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 800m. Inside the 200m, bumped with CHAMPINSKY. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Over the concluding stages, accidentally struck across the head with Apprentice Lang’s whip, when racing tight with CHAMPINSKY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-foreleg consistent with being galloped on.
 
HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
I AM FEARLESS – Contacted shortly after jumping.
 
WINDJANA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MANDALONG FLAG – As Apprentice A. Donald was indisposed and there was no other rider available, MANDALONG FLAG was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3:57pm.
 
CHAMPINSKY – Leaving the 300m, disappointed for a run before being obliged to be shifted around the heels of HOOT ‘N’ HOLLER to obtain clear running. Inside the 200m, bumped with POINT BREAK.
 
DRAGON PINS – As Rider N. Tomizawa had transport difficulties due to delays at another race-meeting, and there was no other rider available, DRAGON PINS was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 4:23pm.
 
 
Race 2: PRYDE'S EASIFEED CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
RELICTA – Began awkwardly.
 
IT'S A MISTAKE – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
GALEKA – From the wide barrier, shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced wide from the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider M. McGillivray was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
THE ORPHAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Shortly after the start was crowded between runners.
 
FROZEN MISS – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP    (1300m)
 
CHASING JACKLEY – Bumped by TO LOVE SOMEBODY rounding the home turn when that runner attempted to shift. Approaching the 100m, carried wider when START STRUTTING was obliged to restrain when EPICURIOUS shifted out when insufficiently clear of that runner.
 
PERFECT ENCOUNTER – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
TO LOVE SOMEBODY – When attempting to obtain clear running rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped CHASING JACKLEY. Cast near-fore plate in running.
 
START STRUTTING – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Disappointed for a run in the early part of the home straight when attempting a run to the outside of CHASING JACKLEY. Approaching the 100m, obliged to restrain when EPICURIOUS attempted a narrow run behind the heels of MENSA MAESTRO and subsequently lost ground and went to the line untested.
 
MENSA MAESTRO – Approaching the 150m, commenced to shift out under pressure, placing EPICURIOUS on that runner’s heels, and in turn tightening START STRUTTING onto CHASING JACKLEY. Rider N. Tomizawa was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding and advised to stop riding and straighten his mount. Rider N. Tomizawa was further reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip in an action that raises his arm above shoulder height. Approaching
 
EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m, when becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of MENSA MAESTRO, attempted a narrow run to the inside of that runner, bumping START STRUTTING, who was subsequently obliged to restrain and carried into the line of CHASING JACKLEY. Rider M. Wishart was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. In assessing the incident, Stewards were mindful of the initial shift from Rider N. Tomizawa’s mount, and the consequences of the incident.
 
DARING BELLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
 
Race 4: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP (1625m)
 
STEINBRENNER (NZ) – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Began awkwardly.  Approaching the 900m, accidentally brushed the running rail.
 
RAGING POLE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
COSMIC GOSSIP – Momentarily tightened for room rounding the home turn when STEINBRENNER laid in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL – Began awkwardly. Marginally carried in over the final 200m when RAGING POLE laid in.
 
ABRACADAZZLE – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the mare to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Settled on-pace.
 
 
Race 5: SEDL AGENCIES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300m)
 
 
GOLD DAZZLER – Performed below market expectations. Rider N. Tomizawa reported that his mount was inclined to hang out for majority of the event, nonetheless, proved disappointing. Co-trainer M. Sears stated she was not overly disappointed with the performance, and that in her opinion, the gelding found the line reasonably well. She further added the gelding may have raced flat in its second race-start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. The stable undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the condition of the gelding. Stewards will follow up with the stable in coming days.
 
VITTHAL – As Apprentice J. Molloy was unable to attend the meeting, Stewards permitted Rider. M. McGillivray as there were no other apprentices available. Eased down in the straight. Performed below market expectations. Rider M. McGillivray reported that in his opinion, the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action and may have pulled up shin-sore. Co-trainer M. Sears expressed disappointment with the performance, however, did state in the stable’s opinion, the gelding may have been over-represented in the market. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The stable undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the condition of the gelding.
 
WESTOAK – Slow to begin.
 
BEE EXACT – Began awkwardly and bumped with AVOID THE MISTRES.
 
AVOID THE MISSTRES – Began awkwardly and bumped with BEE EXACT. Raced greenly in the early stages and taken wider by GOLD DAZZLER shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY – From the wide barrier, shifted behind runners in the early stages.

ZOU ZOU ZOEIA – Near the 1100m, momentarily steadied when WESTOAK shifted in. Apprentice D. McGillivray the rider of WESTOAK was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. In the early parts of the home straight, awkwardly placed on heels of WESTOAK before being obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
 
Race 6: TAB BETS FRIENDS MAIDEN HANDICAP (870m)
 
KAPPY – Shifted in shortly after the start and became awkwardly placed at heels of ZENA ROSE.
 
SEVERINE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after hitting its head in the tie-up stalls and was cleared to start. Raced greenly throughout.
 
VERGE – Raced greenly throughout. Laid in rounding the home turn before being momentarily held up on straightening.
 
MOROCCAN MOON – Rider K. Zechner reported that his saddle slipped back in the event, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
DAUNTING STORM – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
 
 
Race 7: KENNARDS HIRE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1890m)
 
ADELATION – Eased down in the home straight. As the gelding had been removed off the course prior to the prescribed time, when it was the intention of the Stewards to conduct a post-race veterinary examination, Stewards advised Trainer A. Parks that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. Trainer A. Parks was fined $200 under AR165(3) for removing the gelding prior to the prescribed time.
 
AWESOME MOON (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped with SUNNY DAY. Shifted out and bumped CASSIE’S GIRL rounding the home turn.
 
CASSIE'S GIRL – Stood flat footed at the start. Trainer L. Paton was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. Rounding the home turn, momentarily taken wider and bumped with AWESOME MOON which shifted wider.
 
SUNNY DAY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with AWESOME MOON.
 
WHEN DOVES FLY – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and leaving the 1600m mark, improved onto heels and was subsequently obliged to shift wider.
