QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Toowoomba Turf Club TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2023 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – J Childs, T Preston, W Glass, S TooleyClerk of Scales – A Cuckson & C BowdenJudge – M Fahey & B PoelstraVeterinarian – Dr C Bowden-BettsSwab Attendants – J PedofskyStarter – D Hodgson & C Higgins GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweight at tonights meeting; Race 6- Jockey L Tilley +1/2kg As Jockey K Zechner was not riding at tonights meeting rider replacements were permitted as per Stewards race day summary. Race 1: GLENNIE EQUESTRIAN TEAM BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1300m Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the footage of the start to ensure all runners were afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage it was ascertained that BEARHUG, having reared after the start was effected and being consequently slow to begin, was afforded a fair start. Correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judges semaphored numbers. BOLD HOI HO (NZ)- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Bumped passing the winning post. OUR TOP SHELF- Shifted out under pressure near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an upward fixation of the patella (locked stifle) of the off-hind, no significant abnormalities were identified upon further examinations. WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA- Laid in under pressure down the running. DAZZLING FLASH- Improved onto heels near the 900m and raced keenly for a short distance thereafter. Laid in under pressure down the running. EPICURIOUS- Slow into stride after being bumped on jumping. VISUAL ELEMENT- Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Bumped passing the winning post. MARCADA- Raced keenly when crossed by another runner approaching the 1000m. TOMBOY'S SPIRIT- Slow into stride. Raced keenly down the back straight. BEARHUG- Reared on jumping and lost ground. Trainer K Kemp was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Jockey M Savva was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m. Race 2: LIONS TOUCH FOOTBALL CLUB GOLDEN JUBILEE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100m SUBSTITUTION- Bumped on jumping. Crowded approaching the winning post and was obliged to ease over the concluding stages. KING OF THE DESERT- Shifted out marginally under pressure over the concluding stages. ORACOLO- Slow to begin. Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of mild muscle soreness. Jockey L Tilley advised that, in his opinion, the gelding didn’t handle the short backup from its most recent start. Trainer P Webster concurred with Jockey Tilley’s assessment and advised it would be the stables intention to ensure adequate recovery time between the geldings runs going forward. PREPOTENT- Slow into stride. Laid out leaving the 400m. KWAMI- Raced keenly near the 900m. Laid in leaving the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running, shifted in and crowded SUBSTITUTION near the winning post. Stewards noted App T Fenlon made some efforts to correct her mount over the concluding stages however App Fenlon was advised to exercise greater effort and to stop and straighten her mounts sooner in similar circumstances. ALFA LILY- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly leaving the 1000m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Raced keenly for some distance thereafter. Race 3: MM ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m TEXAS HEDGE- Momentarily crowded and eased near the 900m.Momentarily crowded leaving the 800m. Shifted out and bumped rounding the home turn. WHISKY DREAM- Shifted in and away from heels approaching the 800m. Raced keenly on heels in the middle stages and shifted in marginally near the 700m. Laid in under pressure down the running. FREAKSHAKE- Shifted in and momentarily hampered WHISKEY DREAM approaching the 800m. Jockey M Murphy was advised to exercise greater care and ensure he is fully clear when shifting ground. RUSSIAN MINT- Fractious in the barrier dislodging Jockey L Tilley prior to the start. Trainer L Hatch was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners as a result. Over-raced near the 800m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover and raced keenly for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. MADAM ROCK- Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority. MAKE HASTE- Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted in leaving the 800m momentarily crowding TEXAS HEDGE before being quickly corrected by its rider. Jockey K Yoshida was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. LOST MY NIGHTIE- Momentarily steadied when marginally crowded near the 700m. DUCHESS BREE- Momentarily crowded near the 700m. SIZZLELOVER- Slow to begin and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Improved onto heels and blundered near the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 4: MY FINANCIAL TRAINER RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000m MR WANDJI- Taken marginally wider by another runner which shifted wider to avoid heels approaching the 800m, raced wide for the majority as a result. Momentarily eased and shifted away from heels approaching the 200m. BEAU WITNESS- Slow to begin. Laid out onto heels and restrained near the 550m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight until a point approaching the 200m when shifted wider when not fully clear of MR WANDJI. Jockey M Murphy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. ACIREMA- Shifted in when not fully clear of TOKYO SINS approaching the 800m. Jockey M Hellyer was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. TOKYO SINS- Obliged to ease and shift out around heels approaching the 800m. Laid in marginally near the 550m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Race 5: TAB BETS FRIENDS BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 870m STELLAR POWER- Laid in near the 600m and again near the 400m. Shifted in and away from heels rounding the home turn. App E Lang advised her mount had been inclined to lay in for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. I PROMISE YOU- Raced wide for the majority. VOULAIT- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily crowded neart the 600m. SWISS BABE- Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in near the 600m and again rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority. Race 6: TTC MEMBER - TRACEY GORDON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 870m CHIRRUP- Bumped on jumping. GAVILAN- Crowded on jumping. MISS DE BLAAS- Crowded on jumping before becoming awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied. PRINCESS BEAN- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Trailed the field throughout and finished tailed off. Trainer S Sixtus was advised the fillies nominations at Provincial venues would now be refused until its Country form had improved. TOXIC- Began very awkwardly and hung-out throughout and was unable to be tested in the home straight as a result. App S Champkin dropped her whip near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer P Nolan stated he intended to attempt further gear changes to improve the fillies tractability, nonetheless Mr Nolan was advised the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
