QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Toowoomba Jockey Club Toowoomba, Tuesday, 7 November 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – F HartfordStewards – C Warren & J Childs.Clerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – S Fahey & B PoelstraVeterinarian – Dr C Bowden-BettsSwab – L BrobeszkoStarter – D Hodgson & B Mallory GENERAL Trainers P. Webster and B. Gorman were both reprimanded under rule LR44 failing to provide a letter of authority to Stewards. Race 1: NATIONAL TILES TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE 1000m. GRAND DEPOSITION Began awkwardly, became awkwardly placed on heels soon after and blundered. VULTURE STREET Raced greenly in the home straight. BORN TO BE ALIVE Raced wide for the majority of the race. CAXTON CURVE Laid in under pressure near the 100m. L'IL BLINX Began awkwardly bumping MINT STREET. Improved onto heels near the 900m having to be eased. Jockey C Whiteley stated his mount raced greenly for the majority. MINT STREET Bumped on jumping. LITTLEMISSCANCAN Raced ungenerously near the 600m when being eased after improving onto heels. PACCHIANO Began awkwardly. Finished tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 2: CARPET CALL TOOWOOMBA RATINGS BAND 0 - 52 HANDICAP 1050m. BETTER THAN ROSES Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly on jumping. DREAMER'S GIFT Jumped awkwardly and bumped and was slow into stride as a result. EYE WANTED Slow to begin. Raced wide for majority of the race. HERO'S TRINKET Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. PRIDEOFUSALL Bumped on jumping. Raced wide majority of the race. TINDER Raced wide for majority of race. Laid in under pressure near the 100m. Race 3: JAMES STREET BATHROOMS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m. ALLORA ENZO (NZ) Improved onto heels approaching the 400m having to be steadied. HALF HINCH Shifted out abruptly on jumping and bumped ZEITAKUNA. When approaching the 400m mare raced up on heels and had to be steadied back. ZEITAKUNA Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping. HEART OF MARBLE As the Nasal Strip was unable to be fitted Stewards permitted the gelding to race without that piece of gear. Patrons were made aware by way of oncourse public address. MADAGASCAR MISS (NZ) Stewards permitted Apprentice S. McCann to claim only claim 2.5kg out of her 3kg allowance. Apprentice McCann was reprimand under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) as a result. FASTNET JACK Finished tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 4: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING RATINGS BAND 0 - 52 HANDICAP 1300m. The start was delayed significantly when MISSILES ARMED and ULTIMATE POWER was fractious in the barrier, both requiring a veterinary examination. ARTIE'S DREAMTIME Bumped on jumping. DANTE ALIGHIERI Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. ANTHROPICA Began awkwardly and bumped ARTIE’S DREAMTIME. Laid in under pressure leaving the 200m momentarily hampering MANDALONG FLAG. Jockey G Geran was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. MANDALONG FLAG Momentarily hampered near the 200m. AWAIT THE STORM Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m. SQUEEZE DIS Slow to begin. MISSILES ARMED Fractious in barriers, reared and became momentarily cast. Underwent an immediate veterinary examination and was deemed unfit to race and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3:02pm ULTIMATE POWER Fractious in barriers, reared and became momentarily cast. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on both runners were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applied to all successful wagers placed prior to 3:02pm: 44 cents in the dollar for the win34 cents in the dollar for the place Trainer John Ferguson was advised that MISSILES ARMED would require a veterinary clearance and a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to start in a race. Trainer Kieran Kirwin was advised that ULTIMATE POWER would require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to start in a race and that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. Race 5: HAYNES - THINK PEOPLE THINK HAYNES CLASS 1 PLATE 1625m. CAPTAIN HOOK (NZ)Raced keenly in the early stages and down the back straight. HECTOR SAGOA (NZ) Race wide in the early stages. MY MOSES Raced wide in the early stages.Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have slow post-race recovery. EPIC LOVE (NZ) Slow into stride.
