Race 1: HAYNES - THINK PEOPLE THINK HAYNES BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1300m)
 
BY THE LAW – Began awkwardly and contacted OUR TOP SHELF. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1200m, bumped with WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA. Near the 550m, bumped and carried wider when UNION SPIRIT attempted to shift out.
 
OUR TOP SHELF – Trainer C. White was fined $100 under AR106 for failing to present the gelding with bandages, part of its approved gear. Contacted on jumping. Approaching the 1000m, bumped and carried in onto UNION SPIRIT when HUMAN TOUCH attempted to obtain a position with cover.
 
PREPOTENT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

UNION SPIRIT – Bumped and became unbalanced approaching the 1000m when OUR TOP SHELF was carried inwards by HUMAN TOUCH. Near the 550m, when attempting to improve, became awkwardly placed on heels before attempting to shift out and contacted BY THE LAW and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA – Near the 1200m, shifted out abruptly and bumped BY THE LAW
 
HUMAN TOUCH – Near the 1000m, when attempting to obtain a position with cover, shifted in and bumped OUR TOP SHELF, which in turn was carried in onto UNION SPIRIT. Apprentice S. Champkin was advised to exercise greater care. Raced wide and without cover thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr advised the gelding would now be given a freshen-up.
 
ARTFUL GIRL – Blundered on jumping before being shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held-up for clear running rounding the home-turn, before being disappointed for a run behind the tiring HUMAN TOUCH.
 
DRAGON PINS – Over-raced throughout the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 2: SEMLOH SUPPORT SERVICES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP (1625m)
 
SOUTH PARADE (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 400m, obliged to steady when tightened for room when DROP THE PILOT shifted in.
 
FIRE KING – Rounding the home-turn, bumped with HARBELLE.
 
VAN GOGH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having raced at Gatton on Sunday 12 November 2023 and passed fit to start.
 
NO GOING BACK – When commencing to race keenly in the middle stages, became awkwardly placed on heels for some distance. Held-up for clear running from the 500m until rounding the home-turn.
 
HARBELLE – Began awkwardly and bumped DROP THE PILOT. Approaching the 1300m, when attempting to obtain cover, became awkwardly placed on the heels of VAN GOGH. Leaving the 500m, obliged to steady off heels when attempting to improve to obtain clear running.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer O. Cairns was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
DROP THE PILOT – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 400m, when attempting to improve, shifted in crowding SOUTH PARADE (NZ). Apprentice S. Champkin was advised to exercise greater care.
 
Race 3: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1625m)
 
THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Approaching the 100m, obliged to alter course when MOTION SENSOR was steadied. Performed below market expectations. Jockey G. Geran stated the gelding was not suited racing second-up over 1600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hindleg. Co-trainer K. Geran was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
VISUAL ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Apprentice S. McCann was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish line.
 
DEVINE FALLS – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 7:45am due to an elevated temperature. Trainer G. Sitek was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
BEARHUG – Stewards acceded to a late request for earmuffs to be added to the gelding’s gear. Trainer K. Kemp was fined $200 under AR206(1). Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1400m, restrained to obtain a position with cover.
 
WHO'S IN WINNY – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Began very awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover from the 500m.
 
MOTION SENSOR – Approaching the 100m, obliged to steady when DUCHESS BREE shifted out abruptly.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Held-up for clear running entering the home straight. Approaching the 100m, shifted out abruptly when attempting to improve, inconveniencing MOTION SENSOR who was obliged to steady. Apprentice S. Champkin was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. When questioned regarding her riding, particularly in the middle stages, Apprentice S. Champkin stated she had been instructed to restrain the mare in an attempt to obtain a position at the rear of the field. She further added that she was advised the mare only had a short sprint, and to subsequently ride the mare quieter in an effort to take advantage of this over the concluding stages, and in her opinion, the mare finished off the event well. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 4: AUTO CABLES AND ACCESSORIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1100m)
 
KWAMI – Hampered between runners on jumping. Approaching the 400m, shifted in when insufficiently clear of EYE WANTED who became crowded for room and obliged to steady. Apprentice S. Champkin was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NO BETTER TIME – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
NOTHING SILLY – Began awkwardly before being hampered between runners. Approaching the 800m, tightened for room when becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of THE ORPHAN (NZ) which was attempting to obtain a position with cover.
 
RUSSIAN DIVA – Bumped on jumping before shifting out abruptly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed general muscle soreness.
 
TOKYO SINS – Approaching the 400m, shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear of EYE WANTED who became crowded for room and obliged to steady. Apprentice O. Webb was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE ORPHAN (NZ) – Approaching the 800m, shifted in when attempting to obtain a position with cover, placing NOTHING SILLY awkwardly on heels. Jockey A. Thompson was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
EYE WANTED – Began very awkwardly and bumped RUSSIAN DIVA. Approaching the 400m, obliged to steady and lost ground when awkwardly placed between TOKYO SINS and KWAMI, both of which shifted ground.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
Race 5: SPIRIT OF ASHLEIGH MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100m)
 
VENTUROUS – Hampered between runners on jumping.
 
FREAKSHAKE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RUSSIAN MINT – Began awkwardly. Over-raced throughout the early and middle stages, proving difficult to restrain. Approaching the 900m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of UNLEASH, which shifted in when attempting to obtain a position closer to the running rail.
 
CRY ME A RIVER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Tailed the field throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight. Trainer M. Currie could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, other than that in his opinion, the mare would be better suited over further distances. He further added the stable had expected a more forward showing.
 
UNLEASH – Approaching the 900m, shifted in to obtain a position closer to the running rail inconveniencing RUSSIAN MINT, who was obliged to restrain when over-racing. Jockey G. Geran was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to the near-hindleg consistent with being galloped on.
 
SILVANNA’S SONG – Began awkwardly.
 
SUPER FAIR – Began awkwardly.
 
OZARCH – Approaching the 200m, disappointed for a marginal run and obliged to be shifted inwards to obtain clear running.
 
SWEET WIND – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
