GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following over-weights at tonights meeting:
 
Race 1- Jockey J Adams +1kg
 
 
Race 1: EASTCOAST CONCRETE CONTRACTORS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m
 
JOY MCCOY (NZ)- Buffeted on jumping.
 
MR WANDJI- Bumped on jumping. Laid in passing the 400m and under pressure down the running.
 
BADGERS NUTS (NZ)- Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly passing the 900m. Shifted in and around heels passing the 150m before bumping leaving the 100m.
 
DARLHISMA- Bumped on jumping.
 
IT'SMEMARIO- Obliged to shift out around heels leaving the 100m. Jockey G Geran advised that having to settle further back in the field than intended from the wide barrier and having to travel wide rounding the home turn were telling factors in the finish.
 
SCAPINI- Raced keenly down the back straight. Over-raced on heels leaving the 900m. Bumped leaving the 100m.
 
ZOU ZOUAMORE- Shifted ground under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MONACO DELUXE- Under pressure from the 500m. Bumped the inside running rail approaching the 100m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey N Nishio and Trainer N Larkin both stated that the gelding would derive a significant fitness benefit from the run and is better suited to races over further distances.
 
LYNCHED- Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
CONTESSA NILE- Bumped don jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 2: THE V.J. BUTLER MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300m
 
MICRO- Began veery awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly for the majority. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 300m.
 
SOUTH PARADE (NZ)- Raced keenly leaving the 1000m. Bumped passing the 200m.
 
LAURIE- When shifting out around heels to improve passing the 200m App S McCann dropped her near-side rein before quickly regathering. For some distance thereafter App McCann permitted her mount to shift out before correcting. Though no interference had occurred as a result of this inaction Stewards nonetheless reminded App McCann of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
MAYA BAY- Buffeted on jumping. Laid out approaching the 400m. App T Fenlon was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR131(b) in that she did fail to ride her mount out to the finish of the race. In determining penalty Stewards considered the narrow margin between MAYA BAY and 5th placegetter LAURIE, App Fenlon’s record in relation to the rule and her status as an Apprentice.
 
COYNES ROAD- Began awkwardly.
 
EMILEE'S EMPIRE- Began awkwardly and bumped. After beginning only fairly raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail.
 
GUTS 'N' GLORY- When queried regarding the performance Trainer K Geran advised that the gelding is best suited to events over further distances however, being first up over the shorter trip and having worked well leading into the event the stable weren’t surprised by the forward showing.
 
VONZITHER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly leaving the 1200m when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. Shifted out to improve passing the 200m and bumped.
 
WINTER RAIN- Laid in under pressure down the running having to be shifted out away from heels near the 200m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MOTELL- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 3: 3-06.22  AUSTMIX AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 870m
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey L Tilley (DEVIL’S RITE) to view the official photo for first place. After viewing the official photo Jockey Tilley was satisfied a margin was present and correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
SUPER THIEF (NZ)- Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 600m. Laid in onto heels approaching the 100m before being corrected. Raced wide for the majority.
 
COPPER SUNSET- Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DEVIL'S RITE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
COBURG- Held up approaching the 100m before shifting in to obtain clear runner leaving the 100m. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost a near-hind plate in running.
 
KWINERN- Crowded on jumping.
 
LOGAN'S BLADE- Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 600m.
 
STORY OF STELLA- Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DEVILICIOUS- Slow to begin. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which identified some mild upper-respiratory sounds but failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
MAIORI- Slow into stride. When asked to comment on the performance Trainer J Healy advised that since arriving at his stable the mare had been working well based on a recent trial he had expected a forward showing.
 
 
Race 4: BUTLERS CONCRETE CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1625m
 
EXPECTANT- Took the 1500m crossing awkwardly. Momentarily crowded leaving the 400m.
 
BURGUNDER- Raced keenly down the back straight. Over-raced leaving the 900m. Momentarily crowded and bumped leaving the 400m.
 
SEA TREASURES (NZ)- Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 1500m and bumped. Attempted to shift out around heels to improve leaving the 400m and bumped. Bumped passing the 200m before shifting in and bumping again.
 
MORE THAN SUBTLE- Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward passing the 1200m and obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
ALERT AND READY- Took the 1500m crossing awkwardly and shifted out. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels leaving the 900m and shifted wider. Laid in leaving the 400m momentarily crowding runners to the inside. Bumped passing the 200m.
 
BEARHUG- When asked to comment on the performance Trainer K Kemp advised the gelding had been working well and, in his opinion, had reached a strong level of race-fitness, adding further that after beginning uncharacteristically well from the inside barrier the gelding had been able to settle further forward than usual, which had been to its benefit.
 
MY WHISTLEBLOWER- Bumped passing the 1500m. Raced keenly in the early stages, over-racing on heels near the 1300m. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels leaving the 900m. Bumped passing the 400m. Laid in and bumped approaching the 200m. Performed disappointingly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey L Tilley stated that, in his opinion, the gelding was not suited by the slow pace. Trainer L Hatch stated the stable were disappointed with the performance and advised on 26th November that the gelding had pulled up well but would be attended to by the Veterinary Surgeon on Monday 27th November and undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition.
 
 
Race 5: MARY BUTLER QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
 
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ)- Raced very greenly in the early stages and commenced to tail off despite the efforts of its rider. Commenced to respond to its riders urgings from the 600m and improve its position from that point. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
ACCELERATE RAPIDLY- Bumped on jumping.
 
LADY BOSSA NOVA- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out.
 
SHEZA CHIQUITITA- Raced wide for the majority.
 
WARRIOR CHIEF- Finished somewhat tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: GIDDY UP FOR GUESTY MAIDEN HANDICAP         1200m
 
SPHERECRAAFT- Raced greenly down the back straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAKIN' STATEMENTS- Bumped when crowded leaving the 900m.
 
PICADOR- Slow into stride. Raced keenly passing the 1000m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
I WANT THAT MAN- Laid in marginally leaving the 900m crowding runners to the inside. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LA BELLA DIVA- Shifted out and bumped on jumping.
 
PRIMARY WITNESS- Bumped on jumping.
 
SEIRYU- Bumped when being crowded leaving the 900m. Held up for clear running from the 350m until leaving the 300m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
ASHMOLEAN- After beginning well from the wide barrier was ridden positively in the early stages and settled further forward than ay have been expected.
 
IN THE PICTURE- Began very awkwardly.
 
AYNAT- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 7: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
DRANG A TANG- Bumped and shifted out leaving the 1100m. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the Thumps.
 
GIDGEE RIDGE- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
 
MY SPY- Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight and consequently went to the line without being fully tested. Jockey N Tomizawa advised that whilst his mount was held up, when a marginal run presented for several strides soon after entering the home straight the gelding was not travelling well enough to obtain purchase on that run before it became untenable. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
THE INFLICTOR- Began awkwardly. Shifted out and away from another runner leaving the 1100m. Shifted in when not fully clear of KEYBOARD approaching the 800m. App M Castle was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
KEYBOARD- After beginning well from the wide barrier was restrained in an effort to obtain cover and a position nearer the inside running rail. Crowded and obliged to ease approaching the 800m.
 
GERALDINE'S WISH- Inconvenienced and shifted wider passing the 900m.
 
HIT- Shifted out and bumped another runner becoming unbalanced as a result leaving the 1100m. When queried regarding her riding of the filly over the concluding stages Jockey T Brooker stated her mount was not responding to her urgings in the home straight and felt somewhat awkward in its action and with consideration of the bump earlier in the event she felt it may be going amiss and consequently did not pressure her mount over the final 150m. Jockey Brooker did however state her mount felt comfortable in its action subsequent to pulling up after the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with Trainer J Phelan regarding the fillies condition in the coming days.
 
SHOUTS ALL DAY- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
TWILIGHT SPARKLE- Shifted in when not fully clear of GERALDINES WISH passing the 900m. Jockey J Lloyd was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
BORN TO BE ALIVE- Raced keenly approaching the 800m when being restrained in an effort to obtain over, however was unable to do so and raced on the inside running rail without cover.
 
 
Race 8: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN HANDICAP 2000m
 
BEASTICON- Bumped soon after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced and obliged to shift in away from heels approaching the 400m.
 
ROYAL COURT (NZ)- Bumped soon after the start. Over-raced from the 1700m-1300m.
 
FIT AND PROPER- Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted in when not fully clear of BEASTICON approaching the 400m. Jockey A Thompson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Stewards determined that the marginal nature of the shift, due to Jockey Thompson quick remedial efforts, to be a mitigating factor in the incident.
 
BRAMBLE BAY- Raced keenly when crossed near the 1900m until a point near the 1300m. Was inclined to race keenly down the back straight.

LA VITTORIA- Momentarily crowded passing the 400m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ROYAL GEORGE- Slow to begin. Raced wide until the 1400m when commencing a forward move and obtaining the lead and a position nearer the inside running rail near the 900m. App M Castle pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that she did use her whip on 17 occasions, 3 more than permitted, throughout the event. App Castle’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence 3rd December up to and including 9th December 2023. App Castle was advised of her right to an appeal.
