QAS officers subsequently cleared App McCann to fulfil her engagements. Race 1: HRX TRANSPORT CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m TOKYO BANDIT- Began awkwardly. Slow into stride. Crowded near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn and was disappointed for a run on entering the home straight before again being held up for clear running until a point near the 200m. TAKE A PICTURE- Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and at a point near the 300m. DEPTH CHARGE- Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being permitted to stride forward and settle outside the leader near the 700m. MIKKI EIGHT- Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting wider leaving the 300m. PUREZZA- Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m. Commenced to lay in abruptly soon after straightening and laid in under pressure down the running. App O Webb was advised to make greater efforts sooner when her mounts commence to shift ground in similar circumstances. THE REAL SAINT- When racing keenly approaching the 600m was permitted to shift in before clipping the heels of another runner and blundering. App S Callow was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to exercise far greater control of her mounts in similar circumstances. YOURALLTHAT- Began awkwardly. After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was restrained in approaching the 1000m in an effort to obtain clover closer to the inside running rail, consequently settling further back in the field than may have been expected. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed lacerations to both hind legs consistent with being galloped on in running, which required veterinary attention. Trainer J Amory advised connections would now consider the mares racing future with mind to retirement. Nonetheless, Ms Amory was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required should the mare race again. ROAR HIDE- Shifted I when not fully clear of WHISTLIN’ RULER passing the 1100m. Jockey M Savva was advised to exercise greater care and ensure she is fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. ELECTRIC- Shifted in marginally approaching the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Shifted in abruptly soon after entering the home straight and bumped heavily with SPOOKY SPIRIT. App S McCann was reprimanded as a result of this incident. SPOOKY SPIRIT- Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 300m. Bumped heavily passing the 250m. VONZITHER- Bumped soon after the start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 6:35pm: 0cents in the dollar for the win1cents in the dollar for the place on the winner0cents in the dollar for 2nd place2cents in the dollar for 3rd place Trainer D Leggatt was advised the gelding would be required to trial under race-day conditions prior to again being permitted to star in a race. Race 4: DTS HAULAGE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1300m CAPITAN DE SEDA- Under pressure from the 700m. HUSSON'S REVENGE- Held up rounding the home turn and disappointed for a run leaving the 300m. Performed below market expectations. App O Webb advised that after putting in an awkward stride on entering the home straight her mount did not let down and she elected not to place the gelding under any unnecessary pressure over the concluding stages. Trainer C Geran advised that, in his opinion, he did not feel the gelding ran out a strong 1300m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. DEMON DELIVERA- Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance Trainer C Geran advised that the geldings most recent start had been very uncharacteristic being extremely slow to begin and the start prior to that he noted the gelding had suffered bilateral epistaxis for the first time. Mr Geran stated further that he saw tonights performance as a return to earlier form when the gelding had shown promise with his stable. Stewards noted the explanation. JUBILANT- Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 5: NQ BULK STORAGE & LOGISTICS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 2150m HARBELLE- Obliged to restrain off heels passing the 2100m. BADER- Laid in under pressure down the running. IRISH SALLY- Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. ALIRAAJ (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly passing the 1600m. ROYAL GEORGE- Began awkwardly. Shifted wider from the 1600m and permitted to stride forward from the 1300m settling in a three (3) position outside the leaders near the 1000m and raced ide from that point. When queried as to why efforts were not made to assume a position with cover near the 1000m App M Caslte advised that she had anticipated ALIRAAJ (J Taylor) would likely allow her to stride forward and cross however, when that did not occur she became caught wide and rather than restraining excessively she elected to remain in that wide position. With the benefit of hindsight, App Castle noted she may have been better off attempting to obtain a position trailing ALIRAAJ rather than attempting to cross that runner. ZOU ZOUAMORE- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages proving difficult to restrain. MANTINELLO- Jockey M Savva pleaded guilty to a charge under the provision of AR131(a) for careless riding in that she did permit her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of HARBELLE causing that runner to be restrained and lose its rightful running. Jockey Savva’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of days to commence 19March up to and including 26 March 2024. In determining penalty Stewards considered the incident which was deemed to be in the low range, Jockey Savva’s guilty plea and her forthright evidence and relevant precedents. Jockey Savva was advised of her right to an appeal. WINSTON BLUE- Laid in under pressure down the running. Race 6: CANNON TRAILERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 870m ALL ABOUT HIM- Bumped passing the 700m.
